For me it was average play from our LBs and below average play from our safeties. Really expected more from them. The Dline was outstanding but they need help

Seems like folks are really downing safety play. Sure, wasn’t too great on Thursday. But overall it’s been pretty adequate and consistent. JJ III has played pretty good in my eyes. He’s all over the field.

missed tackles bad angles just really not what I expected from those 2. MC is the worst of the group. He misses tackles going for the big hit.

From the other side.

Offense. Both teams played well on offense. Vikings offensive line was, well, offensive. But they did just enough.

Defense. I think both teams defense needs to work on a few things. Teams can't keep giving up 30+ points a game and expect to continue to win. It's no sustainable over a long period of time.

True that. Lots of injures/missing players on both teams defenses though. Barron, Talib, Peters(playing on a bad calf), Griffin, Rhodes(banged up in this game) etc

To answer the question:

Offense - Offensive line was absolutely terrific in pass pro but this game Goff really stood out. When you take away the 5 throw aways and the 1 pass Kearse got a thumb on to Kupp in the end zone, there was only 1 real bad pass by Goff, in 33 attempts, The wide pass to Kupp on the sideline early in the game on third down.

I heard someone say Goff's mid and deep passes were like extended handoffs because they were in perfect stride on every throw. Looks at all 5 TD passes. The 158.3 perfect QB rating was record breaking for 33 passes. He deserved that game ball he got.

Defense - The story is lack of edge rush, It's a real issue that will cost us a Super Bowl if we do not address it. And no, Ebukam or Franklin-Myers are not the solution there.

Not saying the sky is falling but the defense has really only showed up in the 2nd half against a still winless raider team and thoroughly beating down a hapless cardinal team. The rams invested a lot on that side of the ball and I don’t think they’re living up to their billing.
Last year the Rams losses were to teams that had a great defensive performance, the Vikes, Eagles and Falcons, and even though there wasn’t much defense in the SB it’s good to be able to have that as a weapon.

the d showed up big in the last quarter of the last two games. made stops when needed to ice the games. not showing up is giving up the lead at the end of the game.

sure we'd like them to keep the other team to zero every week but it's not gonna happen. rivers and cousins made plays under pressure, they're great qbs. but in the end the d got the better of them. that's showing up in the clutch.

they hung on all day but in the end they couldn't hold on to the pass rushers anymore and the rams dline ran amok.

What in the freak do we have to do to get the zebras to call a holding penalty against our opponent's offensive line. I know I ain't blind. This crap is beyond looking the other way by the refs... it's freaking highway robbery.

they do call holding on running plays. but i don't think i've seen one called on the pass rushers since the raiders game.

is it cynical to think the nfl has given an edict to the refs not to let donald and suh crush opposing qbs by turning a blind eye to the holding against them all game. i know holding occurs all the time but the blatant ones should at least be called.

1. If it wasn't clear before this game, Goff is a leader and an assassin. He is deadly accurate and I doubt many can deny that he is an elite top 8 QB at this time. (We can debate where he ranks 1-8).

2. The refs don't call holding enough against O-lineman when protecting against the Rams D-line.

3. Slow down Cooks and Woods and Cupp will kill you.

4. Ficken needs to improve. But he's better than the Chargers kicker.

5. If the Rams get better edge play who knows how incredible this defense can be.

6. If Sam Shields makes that pick instead of deflecting the ball to Diggs, the Rams might have blown out the Viqueens.

7. Instead of being a contender for the NFC, I wonder if the Viqueens will make the playoffs.

8. The Rams are really good.

after watching red zone today one thing is very clear, we are blessed to have jared goff as the rams qb. i've never seen so many receivers, whether wrs, rbs or tes, having to stretch for the ball or adjust to it and most times they're open. many times the passes were incomplete. this goff guy is kurt warner like accurate. i can't give a bigger compliment than that.

sam shields was so unlucky in the game. could have had 3 interceptions. he is so quick and makes up ground in a hurry. it won't be long before he will get interceptions in bunches. but he has to keep his eyes on his man and not in the backfield.

Granted they haven’t been shining stars per say, but I have to disagree here. TBH, PFF has good grades on JJ and MC. Joyner has been hit and miss.

Wow this thread sure took a hard right.
lol that's just how we roll here ;)

1. This is an epic offense, from top to bottom, from the coaches to the players, OL, WR's, QB, RB's, TE's, all doing their part. So, what stands out is the fact that it's hard to say what stands out on offense.

2. It's hard to understate the impact that Talib has on this D -- the difference between the D that shut out the Curds and the D that gave up 28 to the Viqueens is noticeable. This D depends so much on CB play, maybe a little too much. Our OLB/ILB corp is still a work in progress (though we still haven't seen our new toy Obo yet....).

For those worrying about our pass rush...

I am concerned too, but Robert Quinn wasnt getting home and he wasnt the answer either... until he was. It takes a while for young guys.
