What stood out to me is that Goff has his timing down perfect on the long throws.

Earlier he overthrew a couple players by a foot or two and I attributed that to a little too much adrenaline.

they do call holding on running plays. but i don't think i've seen one called on the pass rushers since the raiders game.

is it cynical to think the nfl has given an edict to the refs not to let donald and suh crush opposing qbs by turning a blind eye to the holding against them all game. i know holding occurs all the time but the blatant ones should at least be called.

.
The Rams have gotten a few O holding calls in their favor. I don't have a problem with how they are calling them (i.e. only calling the most blatant and obvious holds) as long as they are consistent calling it the same way for both teams (like the Vikings game, but not the 3rd quarter - I think it was - in the Chargers game). That only helps our OL and offense.

What stood out for me was the plan of attack. McVay found something the Vikings wanted to do to give them an edge (Barr) and he made him a liability. I haven't seen it that obvious since Mad Mike.....but McVay has no problems going back to something that worked......not Mad Mike.....once used....put it in a museum because no one will see it again...........

And on defense......they might not be there yet.....but the further into the game....the harder it is to contain that D-line. Attrition, attrition, attrition.......

Hekker getting rusty not punting 9 times a game

Officials helping to neutralize the Rams pass rush

Goff got game

McVay just hit page 2 of his play book

put your seat belts on, it's gonna be a hell of a ride

after watching red zone today one thing is very clear, we are blessed to have jared goff as the rams qb. i've never seen so many receivers, whether wrs, rbs or tes, having to stretch for the ball or adjust to it and most times they're open. many times the passes were incomplete. this goff guy is kurt warner like accurate. i can't give a bigger compliment than that.

sam shields was so unlucky in the game. could have had 3 interceptions. he is so quick and makes up ground in a hurry. it won't be long before he will get interceptions in bunches. but he has to keep his eyes on his man and not in the backfield.

.
Agree with you about Shields, in fact the D as a whole was close to making a number of game changing plays which just didn’t quite happen. Some of that was Cousins, some of it bad luck. I think the D will be ok when Peters is back to full speed and Shields has a bit more playing and practice time to be really integrated in the scheme.

Defense. I think both teams defense needs to work on a few things. Teams can't keep giving up 30+ points a game and expect to continue to win. It's no sustainable over a long period of time.
Exactly! People think the Rams are going to the super bowl with "this" defense. No way....but, that is how fans are when they see Goff do what he did.....even Kurt Warner couldn't sustain that (see Giants and Bucs 2001 games, e.g.). However, I expect the edge rusher situation to change (a bit) for the Rams, and Shields will get better, and #22 will get a lot better. But, I ams shocked at how Suh and Donald mostly dominate, but we are easily eaten alive in run defense.....teams will play like the Vikings and forego the run---thankfully. Well, we have the horses to scare teams, so we will have to expect double barrel barrage of passing against us.

I expect Rams to have a top 14 defense in yards (at best). Like in 2001 teams that historically run on 2nd and 1 will be throwing deep passes against the Rams (see Eagles Wk 1 vs Rams.....3 attempts on 4th down to convert, because they knew they had no chance otherwise---or was it the NFCC, lol?)....same thing goes for the Chiefs and Saints.....the NFL is changing...a lot of 40+ games are coming all season long.

I think it will be ok, too.....but against he best offenses who knows--Wentz might put up near 40 on us. I hope hte Falcons just miss the playoffs---though their Defense isas as bad as their O is good.

Even after the shootout, the Rams are 5th overall in scoring defense averaging less than 17ppg.

I’m not worried about this D. I’ll become concerned if Seattle turns our game into a shootout, but at this time I’m not concerned
