I believe it is. His mobility is not about speed its about feeling the rush and manipulating the pocket with small steps to avoid the rush and feeling comfortable under pressure.

It won't affect his game, he won't be running the read option after all. Goff was, by his own admission, 185 lbs as a freshman so he has put on 30lbs since.

Plus Goff took some big hits in college and didn't get a major injury.

Sure Wentz is oozing with potential but there are some unanswered questions with him. And he is not as accurate as Goff with passes.

Except the shoulder separation, on his throwing arm I believe at the end of his freshman year.

They are both still prospects and with this staff's cautious approach I don't expect much out of whomever the pick is until at least 2017.

Thing about Goff's shoulder is that it happened his Freshman season , and he got pounded for two years after that and it seemed to have held up just fine , I don't think Goff's shoulder is an issue

I'm still not real sure who I'm for , but I'll be glad when it's over so I can convince myself that who ever the Rams pick , is the guy I actually wanted all along

Bradford played behind one of the best OL's of all time...goff played behind a bad o line
Bradford never handled pressure well goff works the pocket amazingly and consistenly excelled under pressure.

Goffs footwork and mobility within the pocket is light years ahead of wentz and by my estimation way ahead of most of the qbs coming out in recent years.

Goff took a beating at Cal and never missed time due to injury Just because hes lean doesnt mean he will get hurt.

Bradfords problem was his head to me. He got into trouble by being conservative and holding the ball.
Goff naturally gets rid of the ball a LOT qquicker and shuffles in the pocket with good awareness.
Hand size is said to be pretty mute after you reach the 9" plateau.

I will be psyched with either one and when I have "doubts", its only in comparison to the "other guy". I think both deserve to go #1 overall and both have the ability to be consistent all pro
That said, I prefer Goff.
Wentz has a few more "doubts" IMO. Namely, not sure what separates him from Brock Jensen who won 3 NC while Wentz was on the bench, and had significantly higher TD production. Meanwhile, Jensen cant get a cup of coffee in the CFL and Wentz is potentially the #1 overall? I applaud Wentz for coming back and playing great in the 1st half of this year's NC game, but 1) he was injured and missed 8 games and 2) they were rolling thru the playoffs without him and likely would have rolled thru the NC game as well
As for Goff, his frame doesn't bother me as he can put on weight, but what DOES bother me is the amount of fumbles he's had

I am concerned only because of the spread offense transition to the NFL. There's a lot of evidence that it's hard for QBs to go from one to the other and is the main factor in me liking Wentz as much as Goff at this point. But I do like Goff's footwork and pocket mobility while still being able to throw accurately during it. So I can't say he's like Bradford plus Goff's durability in college despite being rough housed a lot.

I've heard that Goff has tried to put on good weight over the years but couldn't? But they found a reason medically that he couldn't... is there an article about that anywhere or when was this diagnosed? Just wondering if he's been working on that now if they know why he couldn't and would help his cause a lot if he was able to put on 5-10 pounds over the course of this offseason... especially before the draft.

See Carr, I bet any of us would be happy to have him a QB. I did not think Carr's playing at Fresno State would help him in the NFL, so far I am as wrong as can be.

Goff is mobile and has very good pocket presence which Sam had zero. Sam played college ball behind a monstrous Oline and never got pressured. Goff was pressured on nearly every play. He still played well despite that. That is a big big plus with him. Having great pocket awareness, being able to move in the pocket, and move the pocket, while still making plays downfield with the arm is a great ability that every team wants their QB to have in the NFL. Plus Goff took some big hits in college and didn't get a major injury.

...but seriously how can the op say Goff is not mobile ? Bradford was like a statue. Goff's ability to buy time and escape pressure with his feet is seriously a thing of beauty.

Agree with your post except for this....
Goff can move...especially in the pocket.
But durability = availability IMO.....and Wentz looks more durable....Goff looks frail....

He also has pigmy hands, I'm a bit surprised that doesn't get more attention. I'm 5'9" with 9 3/4" hands, Goff is sporting 9" stumps....I think it's going to be a problem, especially from a pressuring "D". Goff can indeed move in the pocket, but what he can't seem to do, is escape the pressure and gain a few yards when necessary. I don't know about you, but I've grown tired of standing lamp posts.

How? Check his stats. Now if you're referring to him dancing on the head of a pin (pocket) that's one thing....but these days, just how long does that last? Once he's forced out, then what?

Besides accuracy and roughly similar body type, Sam Bradford is no Jared Goff. Goff is a winner that makes others better in games. Sam has to have everything perfect for him to succeed, and it rarely is except in Preseason when he wears a red jersey...

I think you are trying too hard to find a flaw to worry about.

Those are pocket passers. That's what Goff is, and I've never seen a a QB who has more bodies in his face who can continue to step back, sidestep and step up and deliver an accurate pass to his second read, pressure all around.
In that way, he does use his feet to pick up more yards....

Sam Bradford was injured in college and then hurt almost every year in the pros so far, the guys is just fragile. There is players that get hurt and then there's guys like Bradford that just cant avoid injury. He is fragile or just very unlucky, I feel bad for the guy because he has talent , its a chance you take with player in the NFL. I say go with the bigger stronger guy from a small school, Goff just reminds me too much of Bradford and Blaine Gabbert( who also came out as a touted pro style passer).
