The best time of the season to brag is just before the start of the season. We all here understand Raiders fans. We understand!

Sorry. My biker gang trash fan base comment still takes the cake.

Must suck for them. Rams and a division rival moving into best stadium in the country in a world class city and they have an air conditioned dome in the middle of a desert tourist city waiting for them because their late great father figure dropped he ball on LA 10 times.

Also. Their team sucks.

Just thinking about our starting Dline

Donald - Suh - Brockers

We quite literally have a guy in each spot that if he only has one player blocking him they can just pick up that o line man and push that him into the pocket.

That's insane! That's only 3 players.

Rushing 4 players, 4 players is going to give protections head aches.

I see Littleton getting a lot of pressure through A gap blitzes.

Also think Ebukam will show very well this year.

If A) We get a pick in week 1 instead of waiting until week 10, and B) It is one of these old vets everyone is complaining about, that will be awesome!

May our defense be
Better than -45….

Posted by Adds99 on Sep 7, 2018 | 7:27 AM

That was my thought
45?!?!

Not often that teams score that much in week 1….

Posted by jjoey388 on Sep 7, 2018 | 8:12 AM
Raiders D even without 52 can surprise some folks this season if the DL additions in Gunthers scheme workout well. That combined with improved coverage downfield can be a surprise 1-2 for teams not used to taking Raiders D seriously.

Combine that with the rust from a lack of preseason play against real opponents, a team full of players that already got paid, team thats being hyped as a best contender for the SB and you’ve got a good opportunity for a low scoring upset.

Pound that rock and put Goff on his back. He must go down often and hard.

45-29 sounds about right, and again great work on these predictions
All I ask is that we keep it respectable until the 2nd half

Posted by Vegas Raider on Sep 7, 2018 | 7:35 AM

Yeah, I have to agree
Raiders win 45-29

Posted by Raidersforever on Sep 7, 2018 | 8:26 AM

If last night showed us anything it is that vets need some preseason reps.
I don’t see either offense lighting it up. One advantage the Raiders have is no one knows what tricks Gruden has up his sleeves.
We all know the Rams Offense. Gruden probably knows the Rams offense like it was his own.
It is the student against the master.
Get your popcorn ready.

Posted by Vegas Raider on Sep 7, 2018 | 7:34 AM

Last night's lesson...
…take the points. If Atlanta kicks the FG on their first drive – they only need a FG at the end to tie it up and go to overtime. Classic Madden strategy… take the points.

So I give up

Posted by The Shaman on Sep 7, 2018 | 7:37 AM

Well
You would have the same record as most people. For some reason almost everyone stupidly thought having Matt Ryan and Julio Jones that the Falcons would be able to score in the Red Zone!

Posted by jameswyatt on Sep 7, 2018 | 7:41 AM

I wasn't expecting a low scoring game, that's for sure

Posted by The Shaman on Sep 7, 2018 | 7:49 AM

looks like Ryan has lost a lot of arm strength
he looked pretty anemic

Posted by RaiderRich25 on Sep 7, 2018 | 7:59 AM

Worst for me
I was rooting for Philadelphia all game because I knew they would win and found out that when I imported my picks, I had overwritten it with Atlanta. FFS

Posted by Raidersforever on Sep 7, 2018 | 8:28 AM

Who knew matt ryans arm had lost so much
It couldn’t overcome the superbowl hangover.

Posted by Adds99 on Sep 7, 2018 | 8:41 AM
He looked sloppy several times that game. Hoping Goff is even more rusty!

Posted by cbizkit707 on Sep 7, 2018 | 10:09 AM

And Carr isn't

Posted by Adds99 on Sep 7, 2018 | 10:29 AM

Exactly
I still believe the whole first team offense needed more work during the preseason games. This could look like another preseason game.

Posted by RaiderBob5150 on Sep 7, 2018 | 10:48 AM

Media is ignoring the preseason revolt that occurred this year
Teams basically said FU and conducted a practice of those least likely to make the team in public vs any semblance of showing warming up the primary team.

Went from road tests of the team to a practice fans pay to watch and which local networks pay to televise.

If I was one of those local networks I wouldn’t be happy at that.

I think exhibition games in major league baseball "Citrus" and "Cactus" leagues are free for fans; or at least they used to be years ago

Posted by alzadoX on Sep 8, 2018 | 8:53 PM

did you not realize that pretending preseason games meant something other than roster and depth chart decisions in years past was a charade?
they used to play the starters more mostly for show. This year they just cut the charade and finally admitted what preseason is really about

realize also that 16 regular season games is a really really long time to play a rough sport like football and if your team makes it to the post season you play even more games. I doubt most fans even posting here made it through more than a 10 game high school schedule. Yes they are pros but the body has its limits

and teams realize the practice isn’t worth the beating for established starters

Posted by alzadoX on Sep 8, 2018 | 9:12 PM
Ideally, but I’m feeling the Raiders have a much better chance at a low scoring game than they do a high scoring game. If both QB’s play like ass and it becomes a slugfest I like Marshawn and the maulers in the middle of the OL to wear them down. Suh got pushed around last year and for as great a player as AD is he’s still on the lighter side far as DL’s go.

That score would be a huge improvement over the 2014 game

Posted by jdg3 on Sep 7, 2018 | 8:12 AM

Its so odd to me that game doesnt come up more.
And I dont understand why. First of all, it was the Hands Up Dont Shoot game, so it had some prevalence outside of football. Secondly, the score was FIFTY-TWO to ZERO. That’s unbelievable. And yet this game is rarely brought up.. by us or by anyone else. It’s almost like this game was just a blip on the map and everyone moved on like it didnt happen. Seriously, does anyone know why this game isn’t brought up?

Posted by LivingLegnd on Sep 7, 2018 | 9:52 AM

It didn't happen...
...until you brought it up again.

Serious – I remember that game like it was yesterday. First quarter, we’re already down 10, on about the 42 with a yard or so to go for a first down and rather than try a long FG or going for the first – Sparano punts. Two thoughts entered my mind…

1. Typical Sparano – no fucking clue in regards to strategy and…

2. The good news – at least the rest of the Nation and Mark Davis have now been duly notified of this man’s sideline incompetence.

Posted by Indy! on Sep 7, 2018 | 10:37 AM

Hot damn, pretty sure I was alive for that game but I had successfully wiped the memory banks clean.
thanks

Posted by Raidersforever on Sep 7, 2018 | 11:59 AM

Simple
There was no raiders rams rivalry with St Louis fans. Not in the same division or conference.

We all expected to lose the game and were focused on KC the week before and San fran the week after which were the wins we wanted badly and actually got.

Carr was a rookie and we expected and therefore accepted ugly performances while focusing on the positives.

It was a 3-13 season – there were many bad ugly games.

Posted by Adds99 on Sep 7, 2018 | 12:16 PM

actually Rodger Saffold brings it up, since that previous offseason the Raiders took a mega contract offer off the table
Mark Davis apparently nixed huge offer in free agency either because he believed it excessive or because of the reason given—that Saffold failed his physical due to a shoulder labrum issue

or both

Saffold ended up having shoulder surgery like the next year. Saffold is like the modern day Robert Gallery, a guy who was supposed to have the talent for LT but it didn’t work out probably in part because he had so many injuries he didn’t develop to full potential and his spotty availability meant that teams only wanted him inside rather than at a bookend, since it’s easier to replace an injured guard without messing up the cohesion of the OL whereas if a bookend tackle goes down it can really screw up the whole OL in a hurry

Goff did not play in preseason, DC4 played a little. I expect both Os to be rusty. Sumpin like 17-14 either way.

Posted by RaiderBob5150 on Sep 7, 2018 | 8:15 AM

Rams have a 1-2 window before Gurley's and Goff's contracts come up.

Posted by Raiderfn24 on Sep 7, 2018 | 8:21 AM

yeah they could be hurting then
Marcus Peters has his 5th year option next season ($9,069,000) and I doubt they are able to resign him.

LaMarcus Joyner and Suh are only one 1 year deals too.

Posted by jdg3 on Sep 7, 2018 | 8:49 AM

They already hammered out Gurley's contract
But yes, overall you are correct. Not to mention the picks they gave up to get Cooks, Talib, and Peters. I know they didn’t give up a ton of draft capital, but with all of the money they are spending they will be wishing they had those picks.

This year and next year is their window, but eventually they will have to pay the Pieper.

Posted by DenverR8der on Sep 7, 2018 | 10:50 AM

Didn't catch that. Just read that its a lil over 14mil/yr.
That’s not bad at all for a potential MVP.

Posted by Raiderfn24 on Sep 7, 2018 | 12:13 PM

I was really looking forward to this again until the Mack trade happened.
Since then, I felt like the season is over. It’s not. But I just felt that way. I’m slowing snapping out of that funk, but I’m still not feeling too optimistic about this particular game.

This offseason I thought the Raiders could win 10-11 games, then since the trade, I feel like this is a 5 win team. This is not true. Although Mack is a beast (in every sense of the word), he doesn’t give us 6 wins alone.

We’re still a good team damn it! And I expect nothing but a W this Monday night!!

Raiders win 27-21 (lol)

You should always think this, at least think they can win—and if you don’t, (your choice of drug (s)) until you do until you do before the game, haha. I mean, what’s the fuckin’ point if you can’t get to that point, have a little hope at least? Haha. In any event, you’ll never find yourself wearing a watermelon half on your head most likely.

Vegas here is the thing one Raiders fan to another.
It’s not that you post too much, you do btw, but it is the content.

My thought on our board is post if you have a fresh take or if need to get something off your chest.
(This is not just you there are plenty that can use more of this.)

If someone has the same view or take as you rec them, there is no reason to rehash what someone has already written.

I like many come here to read and learn about our team and it makes it difficult with the same culprits saying basically nothing on every thread.

Enjoy, read, learn and share. Raider On!

Posted by Chucky4Carr on Sep 7, 2018 | 4:13 PM

Thank you for that polite advice.
But what I wanted to know about is some bargain he and I made. I have no idea what bargain he is talking about.
Wu tang told him his signature was too long and I agreed. But we never discussed some kind of bargain.
I wake up about 4:30 in the morning to feed my baby and when I get here the articles are new so I comment on them.
I don’t know what the big deal is. I do have two stalkers though, one of them has been on my shit from the very first day. He has accused me of being another person that got banned. Then he accused me of being a Chief’s fan under cover.
At that point I had only made about 5 comments. I guess my being in Vegas rubs many Oakland fans the wrong way but here is the deal,,,,,,,
.
I don’t root for the Raiders because they are moving to Vegas
I moved to Vegas because I root for the Raiders.
.
So who is truly the bigger fan?

Posted by Vegas Raider on Sep 7, 2018 | 5:40 PM

I will have to admit
I am not confident that we will win this game. But if our D spots them 45, then we are in for a long season.

I expect our D to be much improved overall, even without Mack. I say more like 21-10, Rams.

Funny article though.

Posted by Jososi on Sep 7, 2018 | 8:35 AM

I don't like reverse it!
Raiders win in close competition finding a way to pull it out in the end.

Gruden plays keep away with the football limiting the Lambs opportunities to score while eating the clock with power run after power run. Then going deep off PA.

I think it'll be closer than the "experts" are predicting. All I keep reading is how bad our defense was last year with Mack.
And now that we lost him we’ll be even worse, even though we’ve improved at almost every position. Genius analysis. I think we can rattle Goff. He just lost his OC and QB coach. He has a young OL coach calling run plays and a young TE coach calling pass plays.

Rams 24-Raiders 21

Posted by Ghost Raider on Sep 7, 2018 | 9:06 AM

Didn’t know about the change Ghost. We finally got some rattlers too.

Posted by Raidersforever on Sep 7, 2018 | 9:18 AM

There was no change. I've always said that we weren't going to be massacred like MNF 09/08/2008.

Posted by Ghost Raider on Sep 7, 2018 | 9:23 AM

I meant in Rams personnel.

Posted by Raidersforever on Sep 7, 2018 | 9:33 AM

Gotcha! Yeah, everyone keeps talking about how great their offense is but I just don't see it.
I think they will take a while to gel considering none of their offensive starters played one snap in the preseason. I don’t even think they had any joint practices. They’ll be rusty.

Posted by Ghost Raider on Sep 7, 2018 | 9:37 AM

I don’t either...
Also, it’s really Goff’s sophomore year and with Super Bowl predictions comes great pressure (as our 6-10 team found out last year). He may be easier to rattle than we think.

Raiders 28 Los Angeles 24

Posted by rnpljnsn on Sep 7, 2018 | 9:17 AM

Wow
This is probably the worst score prediction I have ever seen in this series. There is no way a combined 74 points will be scored in this game.

Here is my thought process:

  1. Neither of these teams played more than a few series in preseason. Just the rust alone will likely result in lower scores.
  2. Gruden’s goal will be to keep his defense off the field as much as possible. Expect Beastmode and Muscle Hampster (best duo of running back nicknames in the league) to have a ton of carries.
  3. The Rams defense is too good to allow 29 points and… our defense is not that bad. 45 points is a tall order for the first game of the year.
My prediction is Rams 28 and Raiders 10

Posted by marshgr on Sep 7, 2018 | 9:20 AM

Rams first team didn't play all preseason. Also, why would Gruden want to keep his defense on the field all game?

Raiders use the Falcons formula of keeping Gurley THE PASS CATCHER in check.
Tackling. Also we finally for the 1st time in 3 years figure put how to play PREVENT vs BRANDIN COOKS. We also use the 2016 formula of winning the turnover battle w/ 2 early setting us up for a halftime lead & Carr & Gruden call an efficient, time-consuming gsme plan & hold on for a 23-20 victory. Raiders win 23-20 F.

Posted by TAW on Sep 7, 2018 | 9:23 AM

Thank You!!! Raider Nation Needs Comic Relief
Now maybe more than ever…and that’s saying a lot.

Nailed the starlet narrative:
"The Rams are, if you think about it, the perfect American success story. They came from the Midwest to the bright lights of Los Angeles and managed to pursue their lifelong dream of being the first extra killed in the NFL Playoffs. They got to their position by going down repeatedly in ways they regretted the next day."

Keep it up!

Posted by raidersforlyfe on Sep 7, 2018 | 9:26 AM

Oh ye of little faith...
Nice writeup, Tyler. You did well for your first day on the job. Keep up the good work.

Anywho, back to my OP. We aren’t losing. Yes, the Rams look like God Almighty on paper, but they do have a significant weakness no one is talking about. They were 28th in rush defense last year, giving up 122 YPG and 4.7YPC. Even with Suh, I’m not concerned. It’s not like Suh did anything for the middling Fins, either. Talib nor Peters want any of our smashmouth action, to boot. Gruden has adamantly preached about the run and I boldly predict we’ll be a top 3 rush outfit at season’s end. With all that said, we are going to run the fuck out of them. This will hopefully keep their nuclear offense off the field and our defense rested. Gruden also has a few tricks up his sleeve for one of his youngest proteges, believe that. This will not be a walk in the park by any means, but I feel we’re going to survive this slugfest, and set the tone for a good season.

Raiders 27, Lambs 24

I agree. Doug Martin even stated that is why him and Lynch took minimum snaps this preseason, because they are going be used and abused.

Posted by Ghost Raider on Sep 7, 2018 | 9:39 AM

Better have 6 down O-linemen
Miller and Penn are going to struggle for a while. October will be here before we know if they can handle their assignments on the edges. Until then, the Raiders better have a lot of help in blocking on the outside, because KO, Hudson and Jackson won’t be able to help out with Suh and Donald in front of them.

Posted by raidersforlyfe on Sep 7, 2018 | 9:55 AM

Who are the Rams edge defenders?

Posted by Ghost Raider on Sep 7, 2018 | 10:01 AM

Michael Brockers, who had 4 sacks last year & John Franklin-Myers who is a rookie

Posted by Ghost Raider on Sep 7, 2018 | 10:06 AM

neither of those things are true
they are players on the defense

but Amari Cooper is not your TE….if that makes sense

My bad, just went off your teams depth chart for DEs

Posted by Ghost Raider on Sep 7, 2018 | 1:10 PM

we play a 3-4
youre talking about the players with fists in the dirt in Brockers and JFM next to either Suh or Donald

the Will is Matt Longacre

the OLB is Samson Ebukam

Longacre isnt all that but watch out for Ebukam. 2nd year player that played limited snaps behind Connor Barwin Last year. had a great finish to the season. great game against Houston

Posted by ryanJ87 on Sep 7, 2018 | 1:16 PM

regardless
the majority of the pressure is going to come from the Nickle and of course….from Aaron Donald

Posted by ryanJ87 on Sep 7, 2018 | 1:23 PM

Sharpe, Kirkland and Vadal Alexander are all gone.
That was our whole rotation for the "Jumbo" package.

Posted by Vegas Raider on Sep 7, 2018 | 10:38 AM

You forget about Lee Smith?
TE in name only. He’s our 6th OL. We also are returning to a 2 back scheme, with another thug named Keith Smith to bring the pain. We have plenty of mean, warm bodies for max pro. Plus, these scheme should be much more sophisticated than Musgrave, so we don’t need to show 6 OL up front to keep Carr clean.

Posted by efuentes61 on Sep 7, 2018 | 10:53 AM

What's the over/under on Talib getting thrown out of the game?
If the refs were not biased against the Raiders that is…I’m thinking helmet rule and/or taunting.

Posted by RaiderTattoo on Sep 7, 2018 | 9:43 AM

They have a lot of volatile pieces. Peters, Suh, Talib. Could result in penalty yardage for us.

Lee Smiths job is to get into their heads and do a Mexican Hat Dance

Lynch will protect Peters again and get a 4 game suspension for hitting Jordy Nelson.

Posted by Vegas Raider on Sep 7, 2018 | 10:36 AM

How good is Gruden's psychology?
I would run sweeps and bubble screens right at Talib continuously to draw an irate response and a flag or two. Considering Chucky coached him for 2 years, he should know what makes him tick, and what ticks him off. Let’s hope. That would be beautiful to see.

Talk about roster age?
So, the Rams have a 30 yr old Guard (Saffold), a 33 yr old Center (Sullivan), a 36 yr old Tackle (Whitworth), and a 32 yr old CB (Talib)…….but our 33 yr old WR (Nelson) is too old?!

Stupid.

Then only way the Raiders can win this
is if they score more than 20 points and points will be very hard to come by against this defense. Amari usually gets shut down by the all-pro CBs he faces every 3rd or 4th game. Hopefully, Gruden will get him in the slot a lot in this game, because Cooper is the whole key to this game for the Raiders. He needs to surpass 150 yds receiving with at least 1 TD. If he does that it will open up the offense for our TE and the running/screen game and that could allow the Raiders to surpass 20 points and Carr to throw for at least 2 TDs.

Raiders 23 Rams 20

The Raider fans are still making noise? What's wrong with these guys? Has there been some sort of mass lobotomy program in Raiderville that we were not made aware of?

All this chest thumping and cocksure strutting gets old very quickly. Time to suit up, line up, and seriously break some Raider jaws!

What Raiders, Rams players and coaches are saying ahead of week one match-up
By Evan Groat

The kickoff to the Raiders 2018 season is just days away. The Raiders will have their hands full in week one when they welcome in the Los Angeles Rams to the coliseum. The Rams were very active in the offseason, making big additions to both the defense as well as offense.

Ndamukong Suh, Marcus Peters, and Aqib Talib are three new faces on the defensive side of the ball. Quarterback Jared Goff’s new weapon on offense is former New England Patriots wide receiver, Brandin Cooks. And all the new faces are making it tough for Gruden to use game tape to prepare for them.

The Rams were a playoff team in 2018, so with the additions they’ve made you can why Las Vegas sportsbooks have them as one of their favorites to win the Super Bowl.

The Raiders on the other hand are entering the season with much more uncertainty. You would be hard pressed to find another team in the league that has experienced the type of change the Raiders have. Let’s start with a new head coach, and entirely new coaching staff. Not to mention 29 new players on the 53 man roster, and oh yea no Khalil Mack.

The Rams really don’t have many weaknesses on either side of the ball. Offensively they can be explosive. They also can get it done on the ground with reigning MVP, Todd Gurley III or through the air. Paul Guenther will need to come up with a game plan that can somehow slow down the NFL’s highest scoring offense from 2017.

A key match up to keep an eye on is Rams wide receiver, Brandin Cooks and whomever gets the task of shutting him down. My guess would be Gareon Conley. The Raiders have faced Cooks in the previous two seasons and in both years, he has torched them.

You might recall the 2016 season opener, when Cooks was a member of the New Orleans Saints. Although the Raiders won a 35-34 thriller, Cooks had himself a day. Catching six balls on nine targets for 143 yards, including two touchdowns.

Last season, new team but same results for Cooks. Once again he posted six catches for 149 yards and a touchdown. His game breaking speed must be accounted for.

Gareon Conley was selected in the first round of the 2017 draft for a reason, and that is to be a shut down corner. I would imagine Guenther will give his young corner the opportunity prove his worth against Cooks.

Let’s take a look at what players and coaches from both teams are saying about the match up.

Head Coach Jon Gruden, when asked how he plans to sustain drives against a formidable Rams defense.

“We need to have 36 minutes of possession. Well, Wade Phillips is going to blitz, they’re going to play an eight-man front and make it almost impossible to run the ball. So, the best way to win this game is to do something when you have the ball. We’re going to have to score. When we get our chances to run it, we’re going to have to deal with some loaded boxes and some talented Ram defenders. I can’t wait to see how we do it.”

Wide Receiver Amari Cooper, on the challenge of facing cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib.

“Man, those guys are good players. Ball hawks, really smart players. So it’s definitely going to be a challenge for us and I’m excited about it.”

Offensive Coordinator Greg Olson, when asked about the Raiders interior OL going against the Rams interior DL.

“Great match up and our guys are looking forward to it, I’m sure the Rams are as well. I think anytime you get to compete against the best at your position in the league, I think it’s no different than our wide receivers going against a very talented secondary. I think they relish the challenge.”

Defensive Coordinator Paul Guenther, on facing Sean McVay’s high powered offense.

“I’ve got a lot of respect for Sean, what he does, the program he runs. They are very innovative on offense, obviously they are the number one offense in the NFL. It will be a great challenge for us Monday night.”

Kolton Miller, on playing in his first NFL game.

“Excited, very excited, a little nervous for the first regular season game but I feel good, feel ready, feel prepared. Ready to attack it.”

Rams Head Coach Sean McVay, on facing a Raiders defense that no longer features Khalil Mack.

“I think he’s a player that’s such a good football player that sometimes you’ve got to be more cognizant of others. But we have a lot of respect, they’ve gotten some young players that they’ve drafted and some veteran guys that have done a lot of good things in this league. We have a lot of respect for their front.”

Rams Head Coach Sean McVay, on facing close friend and mentor Jon Gruden.

“If you get a chance to coach against one of your mentors, and a guy that taught you almost kind of the foundation of what you know about this game, I think it would be a fun, humbling opportunity,”

No Mack, no need to double team
Dangerfield level of respect

Raiders' new additions are better
Lafell > Suh, Talib, Cooks, and Peters. Brandon Lafell career stats: 5,263 yards and 30 touchdowns. Brandin Cooks career stats: 3,940 yards and 17 touchdowns. It’s going to be comical seeing that drugged-out, washed-up, chain-snatching weenie Talib trying to keep up with Lafell LMFAO I can visualize it now. Talib is going to be huffing and puffing and he won’t blow Lafell’s house down.
-------------
You being serious?
Carr will be sacked many times..or he with throw at least 3 picks. After the game he will retire, buy some dresses n lipstick and change his name to denise to earase the nightmares of Donald and Sue strait making him their bitch..Rams 42 faders 17
--------------
Marcus Peters is not better than Trumaine Johnson
Aqib Talib replacing Kayvon Webster is not an upgrade. Aqib is long in the tooth.
The Rams offensive line is a wreck,,,,,,, a very old wreck.

Mark Barron,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Conner Barwin,,,,,,,,,,,, Alec Ogeltree ,,,,,, Robert Quinn,,,,,,,, are replaced with
Mark Barron ( OUT ) ,,,,,,,Ramik Wilson ,,,,Matt Longacre,,,,,, Samson Ebukam,,,,,, Cory Littleton
The Linebackers are a complete rebuild because they had to fire their good linebackers so they could sign Donald and Suh.

So on each side of the ball they have a weak link Offensive line and Linebackers.
--------------
The closer we get
The more I think we win this one
-----------------
A couple of refutes here:
Aqib and Marcus are definite upgrades over Kayvon and Trumaine. Trumaine wasn’t anything without Janoris on the other side of him, and Kayvon performed alright but nothing allwordly like Aqib has done over the past few years.

The o line is older, but it was the best performing LT-LG-C in all of football according to FO and PFF. To say that it is a wreck is definitely a stretch. The only real weak link is at RG, whether Brown or Blythe start there, they both underperform.

Linebackers are a question mark but Ogletree couldn’t tackle a dummy if he tried and Quinn had back injuries to the point where it affected his ability to bend around the edge. That is big when he never had a counter move to his speed rush.
------------
Trumaine got overpaid.
Like, a LOT. That’s why he’s not a Ram.

Littleton will be wearing the dot. He’s earned it.

Blythe has played well when called upon. He’s had to come in for spot duty several times and the line kept clicking like nothing happened. He’s not the first choice, obviously, but he’ll be just fine.

Let’s rehash this Tuesday, because I believe you are way off base here and I just need a little tape to make my case. I have a feeling this could back and forth endlessly until then…
----------
Trumaine got overpaid because he was the best corner on the market at the time.
Same way that all top free agents get paid, even if they aren’t the best. Sammy Watkins just got paid $16 mil per year even though I think he’s only had 1 season with over 1000 yards. The same way Nate Solder became the richest LT in the league despite only being average. It’s just how the system works.

It may have been hasty for me to say that Blythe has underperformed, but Jamon Brown is the definite weak link on the line both run and pass in my opinion. The fact that Blythe can’t beat him out doesn’t give much hope for him though.

Havenstein is a great run blocker but can be easily be beat by a speed rusher or an occasional bull rush by someone who can greatly utilize the concept of leverage. Usually a TE is placed next to him to chip the blocker so that it doesn’t happen though.
-------------
Bring out the Chuckie in you!
Get into his head early and stay there. Make him question what he’s doing!

I see this as a real test of minds. Chuckie changing things up as he anticipates his understudy’s adjustments before he makes the adjustments.

3 TE O set for power running behind the FB with PA passing to TEs mismatched on LBs or smaller DBs.

2 WR sets ready to strike deep but pump fakes and throws to RBs or TE mismatched with LBs.

And some trickery! The reverse or flea flicker or something we haven’t seen in years!

Their D is built for speed but smallish. Need to pound them! So getting to the 2nd level will be a goal.
--------------
Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib.
Well,,,, at least we know what we are dealing with. Two AFC cast outs.
-------------
Plus our O.C was their QB coach last year.
We should know their offense as well as they do.
------------
Gruden pulls out all the stops on Offense...
Time to show us what they’ve been cooking up in the lab.

Carr needs to put the big boy pants on and sling it around, needs to have a 300+ yard passing day, 2+ TD’s, no INTS…. Coop, Jordy, Cook, Richard all need to get plenty of touches and YAC…

On Defense, just need to contain Gurley to under 100 YD’s and keep Goff from hitting big plays.. Lots of zone coverage … And get pressure up front .

We will do this!
-------------
I think we'll attack their weak linebackers with Cook.
------------
https://www.raiders.com/video/top-5-ways-to-get-ready-for-gameday-with-clarice
-------------
Jackson, Hudson, Osemele must dominate
In order for us to win,
Not just contain Donald & Suh, but knock them on their ass a couple times.
-------------
Hoping the Raiders Offensive Line Crushes Suh and Donald(mostly)
I am hoping Raiders offensive line breaks the spirit of Donald because he is core cause of Mack leaving.
-------------
OL old with very little depth
LBs questionable and injury in the middle
Edge questionable containment or pass rush
QB vulnerable to mistakes under pressure!
-------------

Brockers can't hold the edge anymore?
who the hell s their other edge defender anyway?

I know Saffold’s arm is about ready to fall off and Whitworth is older than Penn

If they are questionable and injured now in the middle at LB, imagine after Osemele Hudson and Jackson injure the backup MLB

Too bad we don’t have Mack to put more pressure on their QB

Good thing we have Guenther to put even more pressure on their QB

to hell with it just go out there and injure all of their better players starting with Gurley and then Donald, Suh, Goff, Peters, Cooks, and Aqib
-------------
rams 48 raiders 16
just keeping it real.

What? Lafell came into the league four years earlier. And Cooks has 27 career receiving TDs, not 17.

They take after the owner it seems.
