I told her I can't wait to see him get back on the field and release some of that aggression and what did he do? He gets a strip sack to ice the game. That official needs not to be so thinned skinned and throw a flag on a player when he makes a comment while walking away from him, especially in such a tight game. I hope we don't see that little cry baby call anymore Ram games. I wanted to call him worst names than a cry baby but I tried to keep it clean. I can't recall any game were I saw more personal fouls and unsportsmanlike penalties called against one team.

What I said was "refs need to grow the fuck up and be able to accept someone criticizing them." It's out of control in the NFL.

Well bro... I can't say the officials did great this game, because they didn't

But we don't know what Fowler said.

I feel like everyone should be forced to ref a rec league basketball season. Will give you an entirely different perspective on being an official.

Does anyone have that clip when Fowler was jawing to the Ref?

Fowler was walking away and the ref was following him for a few steps then threw the flag. The Ref should have walked away when Fowler walked away. You don't throw that flag in that situation.

Total BS

The late hit on Wilson I don't believe, deserved a penalty because, if I am correct, the foul is in reference to diving at the QBs knees. He fell on the ground next to Wilson and the grabbed his legs from what I saw. But the refs are going to call what they see and I don't know what angle the ref who threw the flag was standing. Possibly he was blocked partially by Wilson and didn't see the whole play. I wish those were review-able. Keep in mind that player safety is of the utmost importance and will be called a foul unless it clearly wasn't.

Any reference to the official personally or accusation of cheating is a foul and has no part in the game. I don't care what happens in basketball. Respect the game and it's rules Mr. Fowler.

Fowler said something then walked away - it's whatever Fowler said.

Just because you "walk away" doesn't give you free reign to say whatever you want before you turn.

I kind of agree with you - you'd hope the official can just ignore it.

But depends on what Fowler said. (what if he said "You're a fucking joke - then walked away? just as a hypothetical).

I found this on the net..........so efyew does draw the penalty. I'm good with having this type of rule because otherwise things could get ugly on the field.

From the NFL Rule Book, Section 3, Article 1:

Unsportsmanlike conduct: Using abusive, threatening or insulting language or gestures to [...] officials.

Mike Periera tweeted that some cursing is tolerated, but a specific profanity that ends with "you" will get the flag every time. In other words, an official might let it slide if you drop a profanity into a protest. Directing that profanity specifically toward an official is what brings the flag.

My problem with it was Fowler had already walked away. And the ref followed him for several steps before throwing the flag.

It was like the ref was making sure he could hear Fowler instead of turning away as fowler did

Players have to know when to stop talking. Fowler didn't stop in time. It's on him even with a good reason like he was getting mugged on the play.

Donald has been a hot head for awhile now. I like the intensity but, you have to know the limits. It's time the coaches step up and start getting in the refs ears. You can't have players taking 15 yard penalties that hurt the team.

The thing is if the ref does his job the conversation never happens.

Fowler's got a tendency to do dumb $#!T. And we don't know what he said, so yeah I'm not going to get all crazy about that penalty. I get that the refs knew this game was physical and wanted to get it under control.

But I have a couple probs with this game though and how they called it.

First, they called the game decidedly in Seattle's favor. They were nitpicky on some of their Rams calls, but "let 'em play" extensively on the Seahawks side by letting holds by OL and DBs go unflagged. This is a trend that isn't just me being a homer IMO. It's probably related to Carroll being an old hand at workin the refs, and McVay being a guy who doesn't focus on that so much. Or it's something worse, idk.

Secondly, they took a hard line vs the Rams but not the Seahawks on the PI side of things. Flagging Fowler because he was poppin off to a ref and you want to get control of the game? Ok, fine. But then you let that BS stunt pulled by the OL who hit our star DL 3 yards out of bounds end up being a wash after AD lost his mind? Are you effin kiddin me? That dude should have been thrown out of the game to "get control" of things. THEN you call the penalties a wash. That hit not only could have gotten our best player hurt, but it led to post-game BS the likes of which the NFL wants to avoid. So don't get all fukkin hardline on one side then put the kid gloves on for the other team. That is straight BS.

Fowler was interviewed after the game, said he was upset but tried to be respectful, only thing he said was it was a terrible no call for holding, so he guesses he was flagged for using the word "terrible" That ref is a p***y and that flag was BS

You can add The Hawks hit Goff twice after ball was put and drove him to the ground both times to no call but they call a leg tackle on Wilson to the list

Yeah I watched the interview also - Fowler never really says what he specifically said.

You should try minor hockey. Or even baseball. My worst experience as an amateur umpire came when I did a T-ball game. Yes, t-ball. I called my supervisor after the game and told him to never, ever, schedule me at that level again.

It's also possible that this was not the first "conversation" Fowler had with that particular ref. Or really, any ref. It's entirely possible that he was warned beforehand, that the next time he opened his mouth he was going to get called. If that happened, it really doesn't matter what he said, or that he was walking way - he was told not to say anything, and he said something. Pretty much an automatic flag.

Of course that's all hypothetical, we don't know if he was warned or not, but it is a possibility.

I think AD and Fowler were pissed because the refs are not calling the blatant holding calls. There were a handful of plays where the hags were holding and holding bad against mark Barron and it wasn't called. It was so obvious that my gf called it out and she doesn't even watch football. Lol .
The only thing I can think of is the NFL has told the refs to minimize the calls to keep the flow of the game going. Only problem w that is there were plays with the big runs that did effect the outcome. They ran for over 200 yards. It has to stop and the rams FO needs to be very vocal about it

Fowler said he didn't use any swear words or anything derogatory, and that the word of content was "terrible". He said he told the ref that was a terrible call.

If that's true then the Rams need to take it to the league office
But I'm sure more was said

When the replay actually showed how blatantly Fowler was held, it swayed me to his side. That must be frustrating as heck. Hussey should've taken his lump instead of taking it out on the player who was held and unduly influencing the game outcome.
