Against the Chiefs there isn't a lot of room for error so Wade needs to have a solid game plan in place.

After the packers game AD said they had a great game plan for next game. The saints put 45 points on them.

Sorry but the "Get gud" and no one will swear at you argument is silly.

Agree, and don’t think it’s a close call, either.

Sure, players can swear and complain about calls, that’s fine. But players shouldn’t be allowed to swear AT referees or be verbally abusive toward them.

Players and coaches will always bitch and moan about calls—even if the calls are correct. It’s called “working the refs,” and it will always be that way.

Same goes with physically intimidating refs... if a player so much as lays a hand on a ref, GTFO. And that’s the way it should be.

The NFL would devolve into chaos if players and coaches were given free rein to be verbally abusive to the referees. Just imagine a player getting into a ref’s face and screaming “Fuck you, you stupid bitch!” What, the ref is just supposed to shrug his shoulders and walk away?

I complain about calls like everyone else, but the idea of not protecting refs from verbal abuse is silly.

Edit: just watched Fowler’s postgame comments, and he called what he did a “mistake,” and said, “The thing I learned today? Don’t talk to the referees.” Well put.

Btw @LesBaker i'm not trying to change your mind. You've made it pretty clear that you don't believe there's anything "behind" the changes to the game in terms of league agenda and making the game more user friendly to the casual fan. I assume you believe it's just happened because "things just happen" am i right?

What I don't believe is that there is a huge conspiracy to alter the outcome of games that is directed by the NFL and refs association to call penalties to change results. And even to "select" who wins playoff games and ultimately the the Super Bowl I don't believe it because it's preposterous. The scope of something that large is impossible to manage and keep under wraps.

I don't know what you mean by I don't believe there is anything behind the changes to the game in terms of agenda. If you mean to imply I don't think rules have been changed to help the offense that's not true because of course they have and I have posted about that myself. Of course they have been implementing rules to make it easier for the offense. It's been going on for 40 plus years, you can look up the rules changes. Each one is listed here http://www.sportsattic.com/araig/NflRulesHistory.htm

You will notice when you scan that year by year list most of the rules changes going back decades involve the offense and player safety.

One thing I know, because they said it out loud each time, that there would be points of emphasis on things, and that's happened over the years. Like helmet to helmet hits, pass interference hitting the QB low an so on.

Each league, all of them, have done multiple things to their sports to make it more attractive for viewers. What business wouldn't want more customers?

The thing about elite defenses is up and down I suppose. Last year the Eagles, Vikings and Jags all looked incredible on that side of the ball. This year is another story. But still even with the perception that offenses are shredding defenses is sports talk fodder. Scoring is barely up. This is the invention of Program Managers in my opinion.
