This Super Bowl and the Seahawks D will influence the draft. I would be surprised if Delane is there at pick 13. If McCoy checks out health wise, he probably won't either. Teams will be looking for elite CBs.
If that's true the Rams better find someone in free agency, because the CB room is this team's Achillies heel

It is a deep CB draft, a lot of guys in that day 2 range that can certainly help. But, yeah, would be nice to get at least one very good young vet in FA.

They're all in every year.
Only thing different is that this year they've got 2 1st round picks, (1 of which is pretty high) available cap room, and the unenviable position of knowing they had the last 2 SB champs dead to rights

So what do you think about the chances the Rams giving the Raiders the below for their #1 pick to get Mendoza. We are gonna need a QB and this guy learning from Stafford for two seasons could only be a benefit..... And on top of it he's Latino, which might get some of the LA based Latinos pumped up about football and get some out of those horrible Raiders, 49ers and Cowboy jerseys.

Round 1: 2 picks (Own, via ATL)
Round 2: 1 pick
Round 3: 1 pick
Round 5: 2 picks (Own, via TEN)
Corum
Ferguson
All 2027 1st and 2nd round picks

Notes:

I have WR HIGH because both Adams (age) and Puka are injury risks, and while I like the depth we have, for us to make a run we should be prepared to lose one of them for an extended period of time. Plus, Adams is older and not a long term solution, AND we are about to pay Puka $40 million - all signs point to getting a young, talented, cheap starting caliber player here (likely one of our first rounders if we don't make any crazy trades).
I agree 1000%

Well that’s when you have alarms sounding about your secondary at the trading deadline and you actually make a few moves to try to shore things up. Rams should have addressed secondary in the offseason but I think they evaluated their team an incorrectly thought they were okay. It’s not like major injuries devastated their depth but more like they were in trouble day 1. By the end it was a gaping hole and too late. Not sure if Aubrey Pleasant signed off on the group or not but if he did his judgement wasnt close to being sound. Snead and McVay failed this team in this aspect.

Whatever they do they need a back end of the defense that can cover a receiver.
Yep.
Need a solid FA A N D a top pick at the corners. I can't see a rookie CB being everything that we need at corner. If we do get one who can really ball as a rookie, all the better. Perhaps with a solid FA corner Forbes will fill the 2 spot as well.
The more talent back there, the better.
All of a sudden we would likely see an increase in the sacks column as a result of better play in the back.

A top wideout with size, strong hands and wheels is also a top priority with this draft. I'm not too excited to spend FA money at this position, though.
That could be better spent on starting LB talent, the D and O lines and ST help.

First, I totally trust our front office, so whatever they decide, I'm good with. Not often in my lifetime have I felt that way with any of the teams I follow.

I'm not a fan of the term. We did it once that proved to be a stroke of genius, but this is a different squad. We're cap rich, but our young talent is going to get paid before we know it.

Might be an odd take here, but I see our brass thinking WR is a 1B need to our CB situation (1A). Loved the Davante addition this year, but if we're honest, 60 catches on 114 targets for less than 800 yards in this offense and with Stafford aren't staggering numbers. And like others have stated, Puka's playing style leaves him susceptible to injury. I just don't see McVay not making it a high priority in the draft.

I like Curl, but also think decisions have to be made and he'll get better offers. It's also not lost on me that Snead doesn't traditionally value (i.e. pay market-rate) for safeties.

After watching the Seahawks front 4 dominate all season, I have little doubt the Rams brass had visions of our group playing like that all season (they did early, but it disappeared). Again, some franchise-deciding decisions need to be made (namely extensions for Young and soon, Fiske). Jared, imo, is a no-brainer, though I don't think he ever becomes an elite sack guy without some better hand-work and counters. There will be suitors on the open market for quality DL....and we can't pay everyone.

All of my cap concerns, however, are tempered if the brass have plans on drafting/developing a qb. I'm just not sure it's in the DNA of either of those two guys.

Finally, on more on point with the topic, I suspect the brass will be very aggressive and intentional while we are in Stafford's window. They are just so damn competitive....and competent. I just wish I had more knowledge as to what it takes to create a strong special team unit. I have faith in our kickers and see an obvious lack of burst/threat in our returners.... but there is just so much more that goes into it that my limited knowledge suggests much of it has to be coaching in combination with time/devotion to improvement. In short, I have no idea on the personnel side of it.

I have concerns with him being able to tackle the QB if he gets to him.
I'm always worried Verse is going to grab the QB by the facemask. If he could get his big ass arm about a foot lower he would take the QB right off his feet, but hes always around the helmet.

How about adding Nacua, and remove Corrum.... I think that would move the needle.

Two years is gonna come quickly and we are going to need a QB.... Though Nacua is one hell of a football player, good WR's are a dime a dozen. And Stafford just needs good / above average WR's and a smart TE (Kelce) that's available every weekend.

Ferguson still looks lost, Higbee is always hurt and Parkinson seems to get dinged up.

I hope it means the Rams will build a better defense than the Seahawks or they may as well quit now and just rebuild the whole thing.

They don’t need the #1 offense, #1 defense and #1 ST. But I’d like to see them retain the #1 offense (great), build a top 5 defense (very good) and a top 12 ST (above average).
