I learned that it seems Goff and Everett are not on the same page. On one play it looked like Goff expected him to keep flowing across rhe middle of the field, but he sat down and Goff missed him to his right by 2 yards.

On another it seemed Goff hesitated and then overthrew him like maybe was not sure what Everett was doing.

So a little disappointed thus far with Everett. With his skill set he should be a beast in this offense. I wonder if he is just struggling with it's concepts or not putting in the time with Goff or just lacks confidence? Or maybe its on Goff and he is is too focused on Woods/Kupp/Cooks.

I also realize Everett needs to block better to get on the field instead of Higbee since they run so much 11 personnel.

Hopefully he starts showing up more as he could make this offense epic by providing another match up nightmare for defenses.

Everett not knowing the offense was the issue last year too... if the light doesn't come on over the course of this season, I imagine they'll start looking for his replacement. Such a shame.

It depends on who is available, but I think it pretty likely that a TE gets drafted this offseason. Higbee has one more season under contract, Everett two - and TEs are often slow to develop, so a midround pick at least is likely.

Yeah, was most I think I saw Wade blitz all year. I wonder if that was a CJ Butthead specific strategy. Not sure we can do it as much with Rodgers.

it makes sense. if they're gonna hold the dline wade may as well blitz to get more pressure on the qb. give them something to think about.

with peters seemingly healthy, he can hold the fort on one side and get safety help on the other.

Yea this is real noticeable the Everett Goff different page thing. Not sure why that is. Goff doesn't have this issue with any other WR or TE.

Speaking of TE's, Higbee is so scheme/assignment aware in year 2 that he is always in position making the correct block. He does lack some power to be great but he battles hard and is way ahead of Everett, I think that's why Higbee gets so many snaps. Lots of time for Everett and Goff to grow together, so maybe by years end they can get there.

are you talking about the play where brockers pushed the guard back into the qb and donald took the qb down? i thought brockers got there first as well until they showed a different angle and brockers never got his hands on the qb.

maybe you're thinking of another play. there were so many.

.
Not sure it was that one... my memory isn't what it used to be... but I seem to recall a play where - in my mind - Brockers had him locked down and Donald just finished the job.

Splitting hairs here... I think we can all agree the Dline - in its entirety - had a tremendous game!

Here's what I learned...and I said it in another thread:

*With the exception of Littleton and Barron, Ram LBs must do better in pass coverage. The Rams are getting burned in the intermediate pass game and they need an answer for that.

*The Rams have great WRs...BUT PLEASE incorporate the nice TEs on this team. It would put tremendous pressure on a defense if they do this. The Ram TEs have only 14 catches between them and they're both good TEs...USE THEM MORE!!!

* It seems McVay tends to get "Martz like", forgetting he has Gurley back there and tends to stall drives because he gets pass happy. When Gurley is on a roll JUST GIVE HIM THE BALL!

This game against the Packers is gonna be tough because Rodgers is just that good at picking apart defenses and scrambling. It's gonna be a good test for the defense and they must pass this test! Teams in contention are gonna watch with great interest.

We have the #1 rushing offense in the NFL. McVay doesn’t forget about the running game all that much.

This doesn't make the point though. It's not about "forgetting the running game".

What I'm referring to deals with "in game" situations where the decision to run the ball was a better one. In fact, you help my point that the Rams should rush more, which leads to better time of possession, keeping the opposing offense off the field.

We all know the NFL is a passing league. McVay has great innovation in the passing game no doubt. Every week in the game thread you find many of us scratching our head about down and distance situations where running the ball was the better option. Often times it becomes a moot point because the Rams succeed...however success doesn't negate the point that running was the better option.
