Also, the run defense is our weakness. Lucky that our offense is high powered to take early leads and force opponents to abandon the run. But if we face a defense who can slow down our offense, we will probably be looking at a game similar to the 1st half.
Off the top of my head, I don't know of any second year safeties, locked in man, with both size and speed disadvantages, who can or are willing to whip their head around with the ball in the air to make the play. I mean, I'm totally used to safeties mindlessly plowing into the receiver, without turning back, and picking up a penalty. Good for Johnson.
Austin Blythe filled in quite capably for Jamon Brown.
TST is just a damned clown show they're so bad over there.TST guy up on the cross again about Goff playing porrly
Apparently, he didn't watch too many QBs play this weekend since he's shredding Goff for 18-33-2 TD 0 pick game
Baron should make a difference in coverage, too.
My take was that McVay is our play caller(and has upwards of 30 years left in him) and our assigned OC is basically a glorified advisor who will always be disposable. We never have to worry about our OC taking a HC job and leaving team in potential despair ie McVay, Shannahan, etc
I think people claiming our guys needed more preseason game snaps aren't on the same page as McBae. He looked at the schedule and saw two easy games to start the season and decided not to risk the franchise in meaningless games. And don't give me this notion it would have taken the rust off. There were tons of guys who got snaps in the preseason that were very rusty if not more rusty than our guys were. IMO the resting of guys in preseason was McVay's plan to use @Oakland and vsArizona as our two warm up games for week 3 vs the Chargers and week 4 vs the Vikings.
I don't think McVay forgot Gurley at all in the 1st half. Every other team knows how good he is and how we used him last year. Gurley was a 1st half decoy to a large extent to set up finishing them off in the 2nd half. With all the jet sweeps and play action we saw in the first half, the play action stuck around in the 2nd half and btw Goff is amazing at it, it gave their DC something to think about at half time. We came out in the same formations and passed out of it while also running Gurley more in the 2nd half. It was all part of McVay's plan.
Personally not worried at all about our linebackers. They're young and talented. Let them grow together under Wade.
I learned that Malcom Brown is a pretty good receiver out of the backfield. He made 2 or 3 nice plays.

Great Observation...!I love not having to worry about losing our OC, ever
