Ebukam and Johnson are both talented enough to play at least 8 seasons in NFL

Mark Barron's absence was tangible

DL was off IMO but I have no reason for concern.

Marcus Peters is my new favorite defensive player in league after his locker room video and obvious passion

I think Goff is currently in a position he can't fail as long as he doesn't turn ball over

Joyner thinks Amari Cooper aint shit and kept reminding him :)

I love not having to worry about losing our OC, ever

ESPN shouldn't nationally televise in Oakland when it's still baseball season Oakland

OL appears to have improved....one game but that's the sample size

Gurley is one of the most real and confident players in league when speaking to press. His career path will be same as Faulk's

Need to see a 4th pass catcher emerge vs Cards

McVay called about 5 plays that were coaches caviar, as usual

We learned that if you have Gurley in the backfield it opens up the deep ball, which backs teams off the LOS and opens lanes for Gurley. Its amazing how well that works when you throw deep on more than just the 1st play of the game, then only throw passes short of the 1st down marker.

We learned that McVay still forgets Gurley too much in the offensive play-calling but at least is working on it.

Also, the run defense is our weakness. Lucky that our offense is high powered to take early leads and force opponents to abandon the run. But if we face a defense who can slow down our offense, we will probably be looking at a game similar to the 1st half.

That getting Cook is going to make this Offense unstoppable. He is perfect for this Offense.

What did I learn?
A few preseason snaps might have been good for the starters.
Jared Goff needs to work on long throws, but keep throwing them.
Don't expect all quarterbacks to play as scared as Carr. 5 completions to wide receivers?
Littleton did a much better job of calling the defense in the second half. Was to be expected.
You can tell Donald and Suh haven't worked much together, this should and better improve.
Final thought I learned? I still love me some RAMS!

Edit: I learned that I'm so old that I've forgotten more than I've learned.

I think we learned how much better Cooks is than Watkins in this offense. Yes Jarod was a bit rusty last night, but you could see Cooks' impact on intermediate routes. The perciseness of his route running, his toughness, and his hands were all evident. 5 catches for 85 is very solid especially how we missed on all deep passes. Very excited about this addition.

Also, I was tough on Littleton early because I think he started very slow (we all did). But as the game went on he settled in. Not a bad showing and he should continue to develop. Would love for him to add more strength though.

I thought Ebukam, Easely and Franklin-Meyers all made their presence felt. Good to see from some of our young defenders.

TST guy up on the cross again about Goff playing porrly

Apparently, he didn't watch too many QBs play this weekend since he's shredding Goff for 18-33-2 TD 0 pick game
Either didn't really watch the game or is just a knucklehead. Goff played very well, could have had more yards if pass interference counted or a long play or two connected. Doesn't matter, his poise and accuracy were key.

Coaching staff makes halftime adjustments.
Rams get better as game goes on.
Wade Phillips' halftime adjustments are unfuckwithable!
^^^ this ^^^^
I was worried at the half... but, after the game, I remembered what I had forgotten... this was the Rams MO a lot of games last year:
Defense starts off slow... look like they're getting beaten.
Halftime, Phillips makes the adjustments and shuts them down... the offense kicks into gear, a lead is established and the defense is simply too much for the opponent. Game gets out of hand.

The entire coaching staff makes great adjustments at halftime, but I think Phillips is the master at it. I am sooo glad we have him!

I love not having to worry about losing our OC, ever
This was a concern of mine... losing Olsen and the QB coach. But, clearly, McVay replaced them without skipping a beat. Much relieved at that... especially after how I felt at half time.

This team is just plain well coached... period. And it shows in so many ways... but, most of all, how they adjust to the opponent as the games goes on. It is a beautiful thing to watch.

John Johnson's got ball skills.

I know Carr is getting lit up for JJ's pick, but think about it. Pre-snap Carr reads a second year safety locked in man coverage against a bigger, faster target in Cook. Throw back shoulder and let Cook make a play sounds good, no? Pass in the air, Johnson whips his head around and makes the play. Off the top of my head, I don't know of any second year safeties, locked in man, with both size and speed disadvantages, who can or are willing to whip their head around with the ball in the air to make the play. I mean, I'm totally used to safeties mindlessly plowing into the receiver, without turning back, and picking up a penalty. Good for Johnson.

A big part of why Goff may not have looked great in the first half was because our Defense had a tough time getting the raiders off the field. TOP 8 mins?? Compared to their 22 in the first half.

My take was that McVay is our play caller(and has upwards of 30 years left in him) and our assigned OC is basically a glorified advisor who will always be disposable. We never have to worry about our OC taking a HC job and leaving team in potential despair ie McVay, Shannahan, etc
