I predict the Rams will use week 8 game to do their final assessment of the OL. See what Edwards does in his second game as a starter. Maybe insert 1 or 2 OL reserves into the game. Then a trade at the deadline to fortify the OL giving them 2 weeks to implement the OL that will carry them through the rest of the season. In the Rams FO we Trust!!

Rams WR unit is one of the best in the NFL. Having Thomas/ Reynolds & Natson eating up bench seats all game does not make too much sense when you also have a young talent like Webster in street clothes under contract too.

Like @Riverumbbq correctly said Snead needs 3rd & 4th round draft selections in the worse way to combat the pending future salary cap hell situation.

Thomas, Natson & Webster can easily take up the slack of Reynolds who does not play in any of the ST's. Then throw in Gerald Everett who has been used as a wide out lately then it's a no brainer to trade Josh.

See below

I hear alot of trade Reynolds from a practical standpoint how much is a #4 wr worth doubt much. I get the arguments but do people think he would fetch on the trade market my guess almost nothing maybe a 5th rounder at best and o think that is probably high. He is not consistent he drops passes never seems to be in Goff's/McVays flow. As a sweetner on a deal say for Glenn maybe to get us over the hump to make the deal happen but that's it.

Trading Reynolds doesn't make a whole lot of sense unless it's to sweeten a deal for an OL like you stated. Even with his flaws, he is next man up should one the three starters get hurt. He doesn't cost much for this year and next year. I like Thomas but, Reynolds has the game experience. Right now he has more value to the Rams as a player.

Note: Now that I stated that the Rams will trade him.

I think that if Reynolds had any trade value, he would be traded. I believe he is way over-rated by Rams fans. Considering he's played his career in the McVay era, I cant see where a team would see the upside. In his 3 seasons (reg and post) has only 50 catches in 105 targets, (that's a 47.6% catch rate) for only 621 yards.
If there is some sort of league-wide reverence for McVay's magic effect (Both Cooks and Woods with career high yardage in Horns) there surely should be the question of why he doesn't have anything close to the same production?

For all of our members who are concerned over starting center Brian Allen then would these trades make you feel better having a veteran former starting OC available?

Rams (worthless 4WWC/Jag no#4 wide out) Josh Reynolds traded to Dallas for veteran back up center Joe Looney? Looney was their starter @ OC center.

Don't like that trade then you might consider trading Reynolds to New Orleans Saints for ex Viking starter veteran back up RG/OC Nick Easton.

Here's another suggested trade to give Snead a little more draft selections in 2020. Snead makes a trade after the London game & before the bye with Oakland Raiders. Raiders 43 D needs a DE & a pass rushing type OLB'er & a back up MLB'er. The 6-5 240 pound ER'er Arden Key can not put on the lbs to play the 43 defensive DE post.

Starting OLB'er Samson Ebukam, DE Morgan Fox & MLB Bryce Hager for Oakland's 2020 4th rd selection & Edge Rusher (Injured) Arden Key.OLB'er Ebukam's position would be worked by Og Okoronkwo, Natrez Patrick & a healthy Clay Matthews & Ebukam's roster spot would be filled by OLB Jachai Polite.DE Fox's back up position would be plugged with DE Marquise Copeland. ER Arden Key's 53MR spot would come from the vacant Bryce Hager spot.

Snead would then have a projected 2020 selections:
2nd, two 3rd's, two 4th's, 5th, 6th, 7th.

And i'm still not supportive to move JR just to move him for draft peanuts or someone else's junk.

Where did I imply that peanuts or junk would be an acceptable part of any deal ?

Where did i imply that you implied?
I quoted your position that he should be traded.

Anyway....
He won't bring back any type of return other than draft peanuts(5th-7th) or JAG. He's a #3 WR at best in this league. IMO he's got far more value as insurance THIS SEASON than anything we get in return.

My position has always been (this season) that he is useful trade bait. I NEVER stated that peanuts or junk would be an acceptable return. Should a play-off bound team lose a WR, a player of Reynolds caliber is likely to bring reasonable compensation, and rather than lose him as a free agent following the 2020 season, trading him now gives the Rams another decent draft pick in a year where our CAP may prevent us from obtaining quality free agents. If no team offers good value, whether a draft pick or a needed depth player, then no trade, ... giving players away isn't part of the plan. With Thomas, Webster and even Everett nearby, I don't get the fuss should we move Reynolds. jmo.

If Snead trades more picks then he’s gonna become a league wide joke.

Kromer can work his magic.

So all that being said I personally don’t think a trade is likely at this point. The idea of trading Cooks is rabidly insane.

I’m okay with the trades. He trades back for later picks anyway. If he’s getting surefire starters then trading picks is great. We all know there is no guarantee even with first rounders.

As for Kromer’s magic, I’m still waiting. One theory I have is defenses have forced the Rams to change line schemes and Allen and Noteboom were drafted for the zone scheme. I really don’t think they were very good at that either though. Maybe Kromer is not truly a zone blocking guy? Maybe he finds it easier to adapt players to adjust to a pro style power scheme?

Trading Cooks isn’t insane imo. It’s not likely just because the Rams overpaid him and no team will want his contract. Is he good? Sure but with more TE sets someone will see the field less and of the three I think Cooks and his contract would be the most favorable to move.

Why are people wanting to trade one of our WRs? I don’t get it - we need each one of them.

trade away picks if you are going to trade - I think we have one in 2021 still that could be up for grabs.

See above.

Bobby Evans should be the swing tackle with Edwards starting at left guard.

We really don’t know that yet. I think if Noteboom can play tackle then Edwards can. We haven’t seen Evans so who knows. But going by coach speak is a fools errand. I want to see him in action to see if he is an Edwards or an Allen.

Well he led the SEC in receiving in his last year at Texas A&M so I think he must be pretty good.
Talking about his nfl career, Sure he had a nice ncaa run, that’s why he got drafted in the 4th round.
Nfl career pretty meh

Which offensive lineman would get benched? Blythe? One of three OL to start every game since last year? Nah. Any trade would be like Corbett - depth only.

If Corbett, Brewer, or anyone else could play just as well as Blythe ( not hard to do) then Blythe should sit and rest his injury. Then readdress the situation once he is fully recovered.

I thought if you trade a guy then you trade his contract too. Wouldn’t that take Cooks off the books?

According to one of Snead’s pressers after his trade flurry he said there are still some interesting things that could happen if things go right.

So even if it seems like there are no possibilities left, he’s always talking to teams. In fact he said when you get a reputation for being willing to deal, teams are quick to calland float ideas. I’m sure he’s on the top of most GMs lists when it comes to proposals. So if he thinks a deal sounds good, then I’m sure he will pull the trigger.

And what is that? Guaranteed money or signing bonus?

Basically, it's the difference between the $49,459,000 guaranteed portion of his contract thru whatever he's been paid up until today. This can't be passed on to a new team.
I'm sure @flv can explain it in better detail.
It really won't be until after the 2020 season where it makes any sense to trade him. jmo.

It's not like we have much of a choice. Noteboom is injured, and Edwards is starting at left guard. Evans has to be the swing tackle right now, and if Noteboom is on the PUP next year, he'll have to play a part in the starting lineup.
