This is true. JRey looks more likely to be the trade piece if a move is this year or this offseason because he's the odd man out right now and he comes with cheap team control for 2020.Yeah, but at least Cooks catches the ball. Reynolds looks very rusty, as he should due to non play, but he has to be ready to catch the ball immediately if he stands a chance here or anywhere else. Last year is a long time ago and all of his successes from then are kinda forgotten right now. I think due to his salary cap number, he'd be somewhat attractive to teams.
And for a reason, you see how Allen is playing and the fact that they aren't calling Sullivan doesn't register?
+1That said, I wouldn't trade Woods under just about any circumstance

But that cheap control is also why I'd like to see us move Cooks. Problem of course is I'm not sure if we could actually move him with that contract.

Not only is the dude 27, he plays with heart; is a great intermediate route runner, and is a sneaky YAC play maker. No way you give that up.+1
You'd be losing more than just football production by losing this guy. Would be a HUGE mistake.
I think if there is a trade still to happen it'll be similar to Corbett. Somebody they scouted in the last year or two that isn't as popular with his drafting team as you'd think. It'll be somebody cheap for a day 3 pick in the next two years. Which is something we'd use on OL depth anyways. So all that being said I personally don’t think a trade is likely at this point. The idea of trading Cooks is rabidly insane.
Player for player trades are harder to swing. Not wishing misfortune on anyone but Bortles, Higbee and Cooks come to mind.
Yes we beat ATL soundly, but they are a 1-6 team. Same most likely will be said against Cincy.
I worry about our Oline still. ATL does not have a good dline. Still we couldn't rush the ball against them. It felt like we were keeping several extra guys into block on pass plays. When we play better teams like SF, Seattle, Bears, Ravens we need to have an oline that frees Goff up to do what he does so we'll throw the ball. We achieve that in two ways, a way better rushing attack and better pass blocking.
I don't want Snead to get lulled into thinking the ship has been righted because ATL is not a true test. Better safe than sorry.
Go out and get Glenn, Williams or possibly Osemele to strengthen the oline. Or someone else that helps the oline. I doubt Corbett is the answer. The report on him he was a bust and Dorsey thought so after the first day of practice. If he was so good why off load a player who was drafted 33rd and has only a year under his belt? They wouldn't if he was any good. No way. Especially because their oine isn't very strong.
Please Les/Sean don't let this win fool you make a trade.
We don't have shit left to trade... Trade McVay's wife? Sneads hair? Parking passes?
I don't think we should trade. For one, I don't want to give up any more picks, not with this exceptional draft class coming up. For another, who would we trade, if not picks? I'm fine with this stable of guys. Finally, who would we go for? Glenn, who has a serious concussion? Williams, who would cost at least a second and a good young player, if not more?
Snead made three huge moves. That's good enough for me.
It's easy to fall back on this kind of thinking with the big win against Atlanta yesterday, but I still have to question which is the real Rams team when facing true talent. While everyone was questioning things following the 3 straight losses to Tampa Bay, Seattle & S.F., then seeing the injuries to Noteboom, Talib & JJ3, management acted boldly. It's yet to be determined how much Austin Corbett & Kenny Young can offer in the short term, although Jalen Ramsey & Edwards both made an immediate impact statements.
I don't think there is any question that our defense is improved and confidence is higher with Ramsey in the starting lineup. When Matthews, Talib & JJ return, this unit will be soaring.
My only question is how much we should really count on Edwards to turn around the entire troubled OL against the more talented teams we'll start facing following our London game against Cincinnati. Getting the BYE week when we do is a bit of a gift as not only will it give an additional opportunity for our OL to develop better chemistry in practice, but we are also that much closer to getting a couple of our injured players back as we fight to make the play-offs. jmo.
I heard Bobby Evans is improving from week to week. (technique-classroom- practice)I honestly think that Corbett can solve the right guard issue, putting Blythe on the bench for backup purposes. Young solves the inside linebacker spot.
Otherwise, what can we do to improve? And if we do, what will be the cost? Those are what I'm concerned about.
