i have nothing against Sammy Watkins believing the World is flat, I once told our CEO in a major meeting, when he asked me to direct a major project and that some were not going to like it....My Response was: "Whether the World is round or the World flat, no worries, I can direct it either way."

I'm all for healthy skepticism, but the Flat Earth stuff isn't skepticism, its willful ignorance. Ignoring science isn't "continuing to ask questions" - its refusing to listen to the answers.

I - like many of you - have nothing against Sammy and wish him success. Yet I can't escape this nagging feeling that the lights aren't all on upstairs. He does not seem to make a lot of sense on Twitter - and I know, its Twitter and no one makes sense - but he seems especially out there. Its mere suspicion, really with too little evidence to even put it on a message board - but I keep thinking that there is some CTE afoot. Or maybe he really is a lizard.

Yeah. I hope he doesn't flame out in KC, but I think the money he got, plus even moderate starting WR production should be enough to net the Rams a 3rd. There might be some potential to stay higher up in the order of 3rd round comp picks if Watkins puts up 75/1000/8, but as long as it's a 3rd, I'm happy.

Fortunately, unless he gets postseason honors (pro bowl or the like) his actual performance doesn't matter. What matters seems to be the money, percentage of offensive plays, and then postseason honors a distant third in importance. I just want him to stay healthy, and productive enough that the Chiefs don't bench him. That way the Rams will hopefully get one of the first two or three 3rd round comp picks for him.

What's telling about Watkins vs. Cooks:

Watkins, after a full season is not offered a contract;

Cooks, just from the offseason, gets a long-term contract.

McVay and the Rams obviously could tell the difference, and they obviously saw much better prospects in Cooks.

Let's keep in mind that some people say or communicate outrageous things just to get reactions. Sammy has plenty of money and doesn't have to conform, so he can tweet whatever comes to mind as long as it's not political....Williams Hayes believes in Mermaids and that dinosaurs never existed, my son who is now a Software Engineer once believed in Santa Clause (sorry for those who still believe) & the Easter Bunny, sometimes things are communicated just to gain attention.

Now I do believe Watkins might struggle to learn a playbook or maybe just is used to be successful with his God Given ability and just does not want to put in the time. That could change later in his career or it might not, however, regardless of Scientific Facts I have learned throughout my years never to be shocked and to at times ignore some outrageous comments or communications from Athletes, Movie Stars and Politicians after the 22nd of November of 63.

The year before Maclin went to KC, he had his career best year with Philly- 1300 yards and 10 TDs.

I do agree that people are too quick to write-off Watkins, though. I think he can be a solid player for KC. Just not the star he was once supposed to be.

Good catch. Maybe it was the other way around....or actually, I think it was the fact that Smith had gone sooooo many games in a row without completing a TD to a Wide Reciever and then he threw 8 to Maclin.

Either way....a reach on my part but I was just trying to give Watkins the benefit of the doubt.

I think Sammy's issue is that he is not very personable. He doesnt develop relationships, isnt interested in spending the time to generate the rapport that is often need to create dynamic situations. With Mahomes, maybe they hit lightning in a bottle, but its hard to do without spending the extra time.

The William Hayes stuff was funny while it lasted, but it - too - became a clear case of willful ignorance. I remember on Hard knocks, him denying the existence of bioluminescent creatures underwater thinking that it meant that they had a lightbulb attached to their head.

And yeah, maybe some of this stuff is just for attention. I get that.

In a world where facts are endangered, it would just be nice to have a bit more intellectual honesty to go with a healthy appetite for skepticism.

I concur and that has served me very well over the years being a "Straight Shooter." both in communication and in war....The great part about that is, you can still be comical or intriguing just by telling the truth.

I am angry at Sammy after the Falcons game, and more generally, I believe that a #1 WR who quits on routes in the #1 offense has a huge dedication problem. I think he will have a bad time in Kansas City despite probably a couple splash deep plays thanks to Mahomes robotic arm

Off topic but Kansas City'' first team offense and defense are getting worked but Chicago's third team offense and defense
I was trying to watch it but NFLN has some piece on Chuck Knoll on right now.
