Was Todd Gurley that much of a problem?

Will some computer guy pull up the vid of him rolling his eyes after McVay high five.ed him, please ? Can not be that hard to find, Ramsey's first game.
It would be made into meme central around here.
You know, myself I have always like the Rams having the bellcow RB. NFL leader type thing. We have the best RB and DL legacy in the history in the game.
But........ if it means keeping prima donna's off the team and everyone else is happy I am all for the committee thing. SJ was that way too. Fisher fed him too much to keep him happy. Marshal was not that way with us. Besides, in his prime he was always the best player on the field.

Ramsey's first game? That helps I'll see if I can DL and edit it to that one moment (if it's not already online.)

Todd Gurley was the best offensive player in the league for several years. He was the face of the Rams, and appeared on several post-game interviews. He was happy, confident, and smart. The problem was that he hurt his knee... again. The Rams knew that he was finished, but I do not believe Todd agreed. The Rams had to get another year out of him because of his contract. Like Old School has stated, I am also surprised the Rams did not keep him for another year. His attitude was different last year, but who can blame him! He was stripped of his Captain's title, and was probably told that his role would be seriously diminished, even though he would be expected to block and be a decoy. What world-class athlete would be happy with that? He will always remain one of my favorite and GREATEST all-time Ram running backs, right up there with ED and Marshall. It is a crying shame that he was not able to finish his career with the Rams. Good luck Todd... and thanks for the memories.

here's my take (a probably unpopular opinion that will piss off someone, but not my intention, diffr'nt strokes n' all that...)

Backseat drivers suck, right? Yes.
Armchair Quarterbacks aren't really Quarterbacks, we agree?

Armchair psychiatrists are even worse.

When we read body language through the TV screen or from the stands, when we see expressions of frustration or laughter of eye rolls or literally anything without context, we don't have enough data to draw conclusions and we shouldn't try.

I am a dude with "resting dick face".
My body language and outward disposition rarely aligns with my actual mood.
Shit, I mean how many of you can even accurately read your own girlfriend's or wife's actual moods or thoughts? We are wrong all of the time.
When we only see a tiny part of of the picture, we project the rest to fill it in.
Its best to be aware that we don't know these people personally, we don't know them privately... we don't know them, period.

We all do it. Its okay that we pick up on eye rolls and bad posture... but its important not to convince yourself that you know whats behind it.

All we know about Gurley is that the people closest to him have never said anything negative about him. He has no off the field issues, no history of bad behavior. We do know he offered to give his huge contract back to the rams after 1 game, because he didn't feel right.

The guy was instrumental in turning around our team. Those games he iced by going down as a rookie, the blocks he took on in pass protection... nobody has ever said he wasn't all for the Rams as a Ram.
Sometimes its just time for a change. For both parties. To me, that's all we know about Gurley and the Rams.

I wish him the best, except when we play him.

Truth? Can you prove anything you said? No you cant. You wont find a single quote from anyone in the rams org saying anything negative about Todd. Not a single one. Dont say something is true without anything to back it up. From what the public knows todd was a great player/teammate and nothing/know one has said otherwise. Todd was great with the rams and never complained. I truly dont understand the hate unless you people had a problem with him from the start.

Agreed to disagree.

train

10/10 .... 100%

I mean, if he was Steven Jackson, or someone like him... With his drive and dedication to 'team' ... I could see why we'd have a year long forum post... But TG? Good riddance.

By the way, you got paid, right Todd? Another mudslinging point...

When the Rams let Gurley go I was shocked. I believed that Gurley would go to Atlanta and have a renascence. But at this point it looks like the Rams new something that the rest of us suspected. Maybe Gurley’s knee is as bad as some people have suggested. I also appreciate Gurley’s time with the Rams. I was in Nashville at the game when Gurley had the 80 yard screen for a TD. He had some awesome years for us. GO RAMS!

Dude, I was at that game too! Awesome day with my youngest son (Ram fan too)!

I've posted about this before, but on top of the whole knee issue, after the SB Todd just simply started moving on from football. Check his social media pages. He's all about them endorsements now. Alt Sports leagues, interviews, podcasts, etc.
Then compare with AD99's, or even Obo's. Those guys post football, football & more football. Then they post their workouts. Even AD99's Youtube channel is full of his workouts & how his life revolves around them. Obo kept posting stuff about his workouts, Ebu as well.
A team captain is about football. Todd just simply wasn't anymore. He got us to the SB and then he was done. Rams were on top of the NFC, and he wanted to cash in on the cache. Getting stripped of the 'C', running for the sidelines, probably disregarding play calls (didn't he mouth one game "just hike the dam ball" at Jared?), sulking on sidelines, getting marginalized in the game plans, etc. all that just tells us he didn't care anymore.

All that said: I still have so much respect for him. He dominated for us. Got us to the SB. So many unforgettable back-breaking plays, the domination of the shehawks in their own stadium & making all those 12 fans run for the exits at halftime was sheer Rams ecstasy.
But it's long past time to move on. All that was LA Rams 1.0. It's time for LA Rams 2.0, that we're witnessing unfold before our very eyes, with new stars budding in Hendo, Jefferson, Akers, Kiser (yep), Ramsey, Fuller, etc.

Your whole point is weak. You didn't let me down, you just made me roll eyes.

Try harder next time.

You sure are hostile about a very innocent bit of sarcasm that you set yourself up for.

I dunno wtf is going on here, but going after fellow posters isn’t allowed, so maybe cut that shit out and focus on the post and not the poster?

We’re lucky to have football and y’all turning this into fucking Facebook.

Cut it out or take it to DMs, please.

Broken links on NFL play even though they have all the game icons up from 2019. Other searches came up empty. :(

And now, back to our regularly scheduled program....
