Really? Aside from Hunter - whom I didn’t know was available at the time - who, exactly, do you sign to a longterm deal? Fowler, who was extremely ineffective in Atlanta? Key, who has done nothing of note in his up-and-down career? Clowney, who is always hurt?
Now sure, I’d love to trade for Hunter, given the right price, but that’s a question mark as well because Hunter also has injury concerns.
My point, which I should’ve stated clearer is that there are no edge rushers left who deserve a longterm contract. None, and I’m not going to be happy with how Miller treated this process.
He was all about the money, in the end, a mercenary. I’m grateful for his help in winning the Super Bowl, but you can’t deny the sour taste in the mouths of the fans who are angry. With Miller gone after he lied to fans, there is no elite edge rusher available, none worthy of a deal, and all we have to fix this is a third, at the most, when we have many needs for this team.
