I was at the Falcons game this year and the Rams fans showed up and showed out. It was 85% blue from what I saw.
That shoe doesn't fit.

No need to be sensitive, it just is what it is.
Not to mention there are tons of transplants out here. Moreso than almost any other city in the US. No one is transferring from LA to go work in Green Bay. We didn't have a team for YEARS.... So Cal residents became 9er, Cowboy and Raider fans

I've been a Rams fan since they were in LA the first time...and remained loyal the entire time. There are a shit ton of us here. Just can't afford to hit every game especially against 9ers, Cowboys, Raiders....because the prices get outrageous.
There's not enough of a fanbase.. and a big portion of the fanbase is ambivalent... and it' expensive.

All true.. it adds up to a lame fanbase. That's what we see in the stadium, consistently. This team won a Super Bowl last year and there were WAYYYYYY more Bills fans at the season opener. Gimme a break.

Ok .....Can someone else who has ACTUALLY BEEN TO SOFI chime in here?

I get what you're saying, Kupped..
It's definitely not like a Lakers game where it's consistently 80-90% Lakers fans. But Rams fans are not severely outnumbered week in and week out

Oh, I didn't say week-in-week out...
Just the biggest matchups. The ones where the most viewers will see what kind of crowd is at SOFI.
Bills, Cowboys.. 9ers.. Raiders, probably...

Been to SoFi twice. Last year against Tampa and This year against the Dirty Birds.

Both showings were massively in the Rams favor, tho TB had a decently sized (and vocal) corner as Tom has a huge following (plus they were reigning champs). Gotta say the crowd at that game was amazing. But then again, Tampa has a pretty mediocre fanbase outside of the Locals and Brady fans. And ATL has virtually no fans outside of the ATL metro as all of the fans there were seemingly visitors. Couple that with them being far as hell and in rebuild mode and well, not a lot of competition in SoFi.

really any fanbase thats hot at the moment or has historically rabid fans. Even the Steelers at the moment couple pack SoFi more than Rams fans can.

Biggest thing McVay needs to add next yr is a proven run game cordinator to implement a great running attack into his offense.

This not all about the OL injuries or even the RBs. Sure a lot of it is, but sometimes it looks like there are blocks that need to be made that are not possible. The OL was healthy last yr and the run game wasn't much better.

He needs to step up and acknowledge he needs help in that area.
Something may be up there. Look at what McVay did with the Fangio defense that was kicking his ass... He elevated a DC from college who knew the scheme and learned it. Probably does need to do the same thing with the run game. Identify what it is exactly he wants and go get a coach with proven association with the scheme/approach. Then learn it and benefit from the good coach taking care of business.

But I also suspect it's the amount of run game focus or lack thereof. I think that's an element too. All this above the neck approach produces a smart offense but not a physical one. And when you go cheap on the OL this past offseason it seems like that plus a backfield that includes non-bellcow type backs is just too shitty a mix to win with.

So yeah there's a lot at play here. But RBs are cheap in trade. So let's do that.

So, who is your 'back up team' this year?
Obviously we are contending for the SB, and likely wont make the playoffs...so who else is everyone rooting for?

The Rams are paying the price of the NFL's intentional neglect of the LA market. NFL fans in LA developed new teams to follow. The bitterness towards Her Highness moving the team for $$$$ never went away for the vast majority of the fans. My whole family were Rams fan. I grewup a Ram fan because my dad was one.

I am certainly not an old white guy. I'm proudly an old non-white, taco, guac, and cerveza loving Rams fan. But my brother and his kids grewup with baseball not the NFL. So most of my family are Dodger fans, or Laker fans. It's going to take a long time to rebuild the traditional fanbase. Do I resent being priced out of the in person experience? Absolutely, I could afford an occasional Charger ticket, but I can't afford the better games the Rams play.

Stan probably won't be around to see the new generation of LA Rams fans, but his son will reap the seeds his father sowed. Many of those Niner fans live in LA. They grew up in an LA with no home team. They became fans of the 49ers (Chargers are a losing franchise and only a resident of San Diego would love that team despite the owner).

So it's no surprise to me that visiting team fan base out number the Rams fans. Back in 1999 the survey for the expected new LA franchise showed the biggest fan bases in So Cal were, 49ers, Raiders and Dallas. The NFL has had that survey all these years. The best thing to happen to the Dodgers and Lakers was when the Rams ran off to St. Louis. Their fanbase grew exponentially.

Kronke is no fool, he knows the reason why the Dodgers and Lakers have such a huge fan base in LA is because they were perennial winners for years. That's why he will chum the waters with big bucks to make the Rams a perennial winner. If they can win 2 more Super Bowls in the next 5 or six years that would do it.

The Rams aren't out of it this year but it's going to take a dominant edge, and one more good OL to do it. The edge should come Tuesday and the OL man can be found among the FAs or also be brought in via trade on Tuesday.

My prediction:
Rams get Burns and Corbett (goes back to LG where he played well)
Panthers get Akers, 2023 2nd and 3rd, 2024 1st and 3rd, 2025 first

Thats how much I think Kronke wants to win 2 more Super Bowls in 5 years. Those two guys will stablize both sides of the ball. Having Corbett next to Jackson will help AJ. With Burns they will return to having a dominant 4 man rush with Floyd, AD, Gaines & Burns. Those two guys makes this team a SB contender.

All that talk from McVay about looking forward to the challenge and playing for first place today. I'm tired of the lip service. Dude needs to shake things up. I hope he's feeling pressure from up top because this is LA. --- the stakes and expectations are different.

Lakers are playing terrible, but at least the games are fun. This Rams team is flat out fuckin boring.
1. WTF does it mean when you say McVay needs to shake things up?

Do you not think he's trying to do that? Or do you want some grand gesture to pacify you? He's a calculated and ruthless mofo. And not one prone to losing his shit.

2. You think the guy who JUST won us the Super Bowl and turned one of the worst franchises in the NFL into a team disliked by many because we are so successful is feeling pressure because this is L.A. do you?

Wrong, he's feeling pressure because he's a workaholic winner who clearly cannot stomach the thought of losing.

And when you say the stakes and expectations are different because it's L.A. do you mean they're lower because so few people really care?

That is the only logical conclusion I can come to that explains why the Super Bowl champions have their stadium overrun when they play their fiercest rivals.

I cannot imagine you're saying the city is so fucking arrogant that the reigning Super Bowl champions aren't good enough for them. That would be ludicrous.

There are no doubt some brilliant and fiercely loyal Rams fans both at games and on this board and I salute them whilst feeling really bad for them. Especially for those who have zero financial ability to see their team play, that must suck.

But I don't consider somebody saying they didn't want to go to a game because they think their team is boring to be one of them.

And here's a pro tip that will allow you to halve your supposed games costs.

Don't fucking buy food or alcohol there. It's not rocket science.

We are grasping at straws.. but he looked good to me.
Big picture? That's a big deal, imo.. because it means you can spend resources in other places.

The question after today is... where the fuck do we even start?

Yes thanks I was hoping for some feedback back. I couldn't concentrate on much on the 2nd half but 1st half he looked very good and from wt I could focus on 2nd half I thought he was solid too. Being such important position if he continues ascending and the Rams keep sinking height be the best thing to happen this season. Oh well let's see what happens.

Love McVay, wouldnt want any other coach in the game.
That said, what the absolute fuck?
You pull a Spagnolo and punt away any chance of winning the game with 4+ minutes to go but then decide to appease the fantasy football junkies by throwing a dink to Kupp??
Where's the step on the throat mentality? 1 minute to go, defense just holds them to 3 after a BS PF call gave them ball in Rams territory and you sit on the ball? Who do you trust less, that the defense couldnt keep them from scoring if they got ball back with 20 seconds or the special teams in fear of another punt block??
You had an entire bye week to prepare, knowing Akers is basically AWOL, and you're comfortable with fresh out of the practice squad Ronnie Rivers who looked as confused as Greg Robinson in a MENSA meeting, and just out of Assisted Living Malcolm Brown?
Lastly, and for the love of god, you cut your teeth in Washington as a TE coach, on a team that ran 3/4 TE sets and yet you've completely neglected the TE position in LA. We got pummeled, again, by a guy raised in the same system who consistently ran 2 & 3 TE sets at the Rams, even a 4 TE set. But year after year we have 1 injury prone guy who is a sufficient blocker and mediocre pass catcher and then a gaggle of wiry, cant block for shit, can catch a ball if nobody is within 10 yards of them, practice squad guys. All the while we are looking for answers on the interior line without providing any help to the T's outside.
Somehow, I dont feel better.....

I thought punting with 4 and 2 was the killer blow with 10 minutes to go and down by 10

I would have gone for it with the way our defense was going

If we get a TD and maybe just maybe we hold them to 0 or 3 points, then we still have a chance to win the game.

Not going for it was basically the end

I told my wife after that play that the Rams have to be the unluckiest team in the league.

The only time we get interceptions or fumbles are after we make a great play - never is it due to luck

I was at the game and it was louder when the Rams made noise than the Whiners. Their red jerseys really stand out while blue and white blend into the crowd. My best guess it was 60-40 Rams.

Back when the Rams were in LA they often had big opposing team presences there. Like some have said, many transplants. For decades now people relocated from around the country to So-Cal. And as I would, take the love for their team with them.

It is MUCH easier to travel by an airline. And much less expensive. So-Cal is a great place to watch you favorite team, in the finest stadium ever built while taking in so many sites available that it may be difficult to do all in a lifetime. For those that are trying to compare to the Dome in St Louis the only reason I ever went was because of the Rams. If I was a fan of another team no way would I make the trip there to watch a game in that pathetic stadium. But Sofi.....like the nice Whiner fans in front of us said, they are transplants to Houston who came out to the game because of the stadium AND So-Cal. Won't be finding me going to a Texan game in my lifetime.

Football left Los Angeles in 1994. Raiders went up to Oakland and the LA fan base easily could get there cheaply on Southwest. Southwest added extra sections on Sundays just for that crowd. Still a presence in the great LA area for them

A young generation wanted a team so many stayed loyal to California and chose the Whiners because they were winning championships at the time. Those fans were not there before the Rams left. Rams fans didn't become whiner fans. The fan base grew for the love of football. One thing about that shit fan base, if their team sucked, they would not be showing up. A seven game winning streak against the Rams sure doesn't help. We turn that around, they will stop coming. No loyalty amongst them at all.

As for the Cowboys, they are Americas team. Transplants from all over the country align with that team.

The team that I saw travel best are the Saints. It was impressive how many of them flew in from NOLA.

It will take a generation for the locals to get on the Rams Bandwagon. For most, all of this it is a childhood passion. And could not afford a game until I was like 25 years old and I live close to the stadium.

It is what it is. It is not fun to lose but it is a great atmosphere in a spectacular stadium. My biggest concern is crowd behavior. So many instigators from both teams are always there. And it can be fucking annoying. It is what the sport attracts now. Money certainly does not buy class.

Rams win, the fan base will grow in time. Need to put a competitive product on the field consistently. And the good news is players want to play for the LA Rams. Coaches want to coach for the LA Rams. This would have never been possible if the team was still in St Louis.

Ticket sales analysis and my eyeballs say this isn’t accurate.

Apologies.

Dude why do u insist on coming at me, directly? I'm not the only one asking McVay to do something DIFFERENT. Especially for 9ers games. We have done the same shit for 4 years and have got our ass handed to us 8 times and squeaked out 1 winning the playoffs last year. So, yeah, shake things up...do something different.

I'm also not the only one who feels the same about Rams games vs popular teams like the Cowboys, 9ers, Raiders. I went to a Rams/9ers game a few years back at the Coliseum and it was an embarrassment. Almost got into several fights with ignorant fans.

I didn't attend this particular game because that taste hasn't yet left my mouth. Tickets $100 each. Parking $100. If the team is gonna play THAT trash in the 2nd half u better believe I'm having at least 2 drinks $40.
Pass

If you're content with everything McVay has been doing so far.....good for you. But not all of us shit blue and yellow over here. This is the vent thread, so let me vent ffs.
