I said it yesterday before the game, the team that is able to run the ball and stop the run on defense will win this game. I just did not realize how lopsided it would be.
For all of the nonsense rule changes, no huddle, shot gun, spread formations it always comes down to running and stopping the run late in the year.

I finally got my wife to watch a Rams game with me. After the First 3 and out series by the Rams and Baltimore having their way with the Rams defense for a TD I knew it was over. I was in such a bad mood that my wife left the room and reminded me why she doesn’t watch football with me. It’s hard to say but we are seeing some 7-9 BS resurfacing and it’s a hard pill to swallow.

So now we know the reason why we lost
You brought your wife to watch the game with you
Bad move
I tried that too
It was Super Bowl XXXVI
You know how that went. She has been barred from watching the games ever since.
It’s okay, Dang. You had no idea about the “Curse of the Non-Football Watching Wife”
But now you know! :D

Im not surprised we lost or that we got blown out as bad as we did. Honnestly after the games against Pittsburgh and Chicago I felt it coming but didn't want to be a negative Nancy.

I did have hope of us turning things around but after seeing how easily they moved the ball on our defense at times it screamed to me that we were gonna have our hands full with a good offense.

The whole season has felt off from the start. If the offense showed up one game the defense didn't and Vice versa. Special teams have been hit or miss all year including Hekker and Greg the leg. Even all the coaches have been disappointing.

It seemed as if the refs had it out for us ever since they blew that call in the NFCCG. That along with injuries it just wasn't our year.

The thing that kills me is now we have to go back to hearing about how bad we are and it's going to be worse now since Mcvay came in fixed things up only for it to fall apart so quickly.

Living in Chiefs country I have to go back to catching shit from them again like all those years. :palm:

There is no such thing as a “college” offense.
It is a well designed offense that Boras has the right personnel to run.
Any offense can work if it is well designed and executed with the right players.
A spread formation operating out of a shotgun/pistol with complex pattern designs is no more a “professional” offense than a power run game with passing options.
It works. It works well. They are positioned for a deep playoff run.
Seattle’s passing game is irritating to me because it is a ton of screens and check downs. When Wilson runs out of the pocket guys head down field for big plays. In a lot of ways it’s sort of a BS passing game. But, it has been highly successful for years.....therefore, not BS.
As an aside....is there a worse screen offense than the Rams?

Not surprised at all either. Looking at the matchup I couldn’t see a win.
I was surprised the D forced zero punts.
But I picked the score of 27-17 or something like that.
The Rams are going to get a big dose of running games from Dallas, Seattle and SF down the stretch.

Total lack of physicality on both sides of the ball. Which disappoints me. It was basically a prison rape scene masquerading as a football game. Actually our O line wasn't that bad last night. I know we got behind early but I was hoping we could've stuck with the run a little more. Give the O line a chance to do some punching in the mouth as well. Test their mettle.

The Ravens make me want to root for the Patriots which is inconceivable. You have to be a special collection of classless dicks to make me want to root for the Patriots.
You’re right, it is inconceivable.
I agree about running the ball. Get some work in and shorten the game.
Evans and Corbett had a few good moments last night.

This take reminds me so much of the bulger years. The protection has gotten better - but Goff hasn't. The "it's everyone else's fault but his," line of reasoning will die off. There is no getting rid of him - for one only 1st round picks for another QB would suffice, but no team would give us 1st round picks for him. He is our guy for awhilel,, regardless. He had two good years in a row. This year has been bad. We have seen him have success in this system before, enough to make the super bowl - so its within him for sure, or it was - hopefully he can turn it around again.
Yeah.
This talk of moving on from him is fantasy.
With no real reasonable options provided for who would replace him by the way.
Pointless and vapid talk.

Yeah we'd have to trade something for a high pick... we have a bunch of broken down italian sports cars that no one wants to buy.

We have to cut the fat that we can and make the rest work.

The NFL is such a crap shoot though... from year to year you never know.

True.
And there isn’t much fat to cut. At least fat that makes sense.

Weddle,fowler, brockers, have to go.

Littleton might have to be a casualty also....

If we could trade someone could help... but we wouldn't get a value return for anything.

This made me throw up a little.
Hey, WHAT made you throw up a little? Oh that's right.

By moderators arbitrarily moving this to a VENT thread, this comment makes no sense at all.

Wish all topics (some of which deserve separate specific conversations) weren't just lumped into a VENT thread that is supposed to be about a given game.

This made me throw up a little.

The day after..

It's not the loss- but the way we lost. Losing - you can move forward. Seattle - missed FG or RW perfect back end zone pass...Pitt fumble... you can understand the ball won't always bounce your way.

But we had no right being on that field last night. And, with Tampa you can't just say that it was a one off.

I am a fan of McVay, I think Goff is solid and there is a next level up for him and maybe more, I love what Wade did in the SB.... but failures of that magnitude are not sustainable, acceptable.

My answers
1 - New OC with experience. I agree with other Fans - our play selection is predictable. (And personal peeve - stop using our WR as lineman expecting them to do anything in the mosh pit or the LB that is 70lbs heavier. )
2 - New DC, this is hard , but watching non- Ram defenses with less talent, consistently play NFL level defense - speaks volumes.
3 - Stop dealing draft choices years out. I know the draft is a crap shoot, I am a fan of JR being a Ram, but hoping that the falling draft prospects will match 1st round talent.
4 - Hold players accountable - next man up means shite - if you can't play... then evaluate the next player.... can't tell me that anything can be worse that last night.

How about we give some credit to the Ravens O, who have done this to everyone this season btw.

Yeah, those Browns are dominant to have beaten them. They are going 16-0 I think...

Amazing how bad it looks this season. Whatever tendencies we have when running a screen must be very easy to spot or Defenses are just waiting for it. That falls on McVay to figure out

agree, I would add Mathews to that list also. I love Littleton but with Ramsey needing an extension we can't spend big money on a LB. Let Ebu, Obo and Patrick play next season. We are stuck with Goffs/Gurley contract extensions for a while. I still believe in the FO but it's going to be very tuff.

i haven’t cared about the Lakers since Shaq left but for my own sanity I may have to redirect my sports watching for the remainder of this season.

Well Harbaugh was about to get run outta town last year so maybe patience is the way to go.

Best, most sane post on this entire thread. When I give it the "threadwinner" react, I mean it.

How many up and down years have the Ravens had since they won the Super Bowl? How many times was Harbaugh on the ht seat. They had patience, stuck with him, and now they are one of the best teams in the league again.

Thank you for bringing some sanity and perspective to the situation, seriously.
