This is a point I had forgotten. I didn't agree with that call at the time. Until I thought we had converted it....
However, if we had gone for one point, then Seattle would have gone for one point too and we would still have lost by one point

One question that I would like answered - why did McVay not call time out before the 2 minute warning.

That would have given us at minimum 7 extra seconds and every second counts at the end of a game.

On the last possession the D tightened up coverage.
Not having the extra TO, wasted by McVays idiotic challenge really hurt.
With that TO you can run something to the middle of the field for an easy 10 yards instead of trying to throw to covered receivers on the sideline.
Feels like we loose aggressiveness. We had over 20 seconds. Throw 15 down field run up and spike the ball.

For all the things going wrong this year I never thought the defense would be the weakest link. 85 points in two weeks isn't going to win many games which is why it's 0-2. I still think we are a way better team but they better wake up quick and show it.

As Rams lined up to kick the game winner, and play clock winding down, I kept waiting for Carroll to call time out. Expected it. Even when ball was snapped I was expecting whistles. Maybe the Rams partially expected it too. Z pushed it, no hook. Would have missed from 34, never was inside the upright.
After TB the Rams were a bit confused, and maybe even a bit embarrassed. They come out of this game, and will head in to the rest of the season mad as hell now!!

Terrible refs tonight.
However...

This needs to be Wade's last year with us.
We couldn't stop them at all. The game perhaps has passed him by.

Also, McVay needs to use that 3 TE set much more, AND come up with yet another offensive grouping (you know, like we have 11s personal), so we can use whichever of the 3 works at a particular game. We need to be able to change it up more. We're predictable on offense.

Also, I absolutely love B. Cooks, but he's not all that much of a game changer. He's a man. He's a fighter. But I wonder if he can be traded for something we really need.

I know this is a vent thread and rational thinking is not popular here....

... But WTF?!
We've had 2 bad games. 6 games ago Wade Phillips called one of the best Defensive games in SB HISTORY.

I'm not sure what our problem is on D, but Wade Phillips doesn't miss tackles, he doesn't blow assignments.

Rams fans sure are being emotional this season. 2 bad games on D so wade should be let go.... we going to start on this now? Let's ignore how many people have been wrong about Gurley and instead of admitting that folks were jumping the gun on his being "done", now we can just pound our pitchforks for Phillips replacement.

we missed a FG we make 9 out of 10 times and we win on the road against a tough div rival.

I am truly more confused about what's wrong with the Rams fans than I am their players or coaches.

I still see a deep playoff caliber team that can get hot and go on a run. Any team can shoot themselves in the foot but only so many have the pieces to challenge for a title - we do.

One person posting that Phillips should be fired does not equal "a bunch of people with pitchforks"

The rams were 19th in scoring defense and 22nd in yards last year.. below average. This year seeing much of the same trends.

I don't see many people asking phillips to be fired, but it's not like our defense has been anything but average or below average for the most part the past two seasons.

A poster posted that maybe the game has passed Philips by.

I saw it but would take me a bit to find it

Yeah there are some posts about phillips and the defense being poor.. but not many about firing him.

No it's indicative of the negativity all season. The reactions have been over the top. Our wins felt like blow out losses in the GDTs, so those are no fun unless we win by 30, a missed a FG and we "arent good enough" and yeah, the angry mob mentality is really obnoxious and at times laughably short-sighted and comes off like a little spoiled kid crying at the store because he didn't get a candy bar and an action figure.

We have a good, not great team. So when people make our fansite feel like its another 2-14 Spags team, it really makes my skin crawl. So I am venting about what I need to vent about.

Goff played great last night

Everett is a beast in the making and that INT was on him

Gurely looked fine and mcvay used him nicely. I dont know what some people are seeing. They expect him to hit a homerun every time he touches the ball?

Defense played well
You all need to do your homework. Up until that last drive Seattle only had 19 offensive plays. We did give up some points but those were all Wilson the guy is just crazy good

Gz choked plain and simple

I think we have to look at kickers this offseasons. We need someone who's automatic. I know hes got a great leg but let's look at him this year.

Two kick offs out of bounds. He missed a bad one in Cleveland and now this one. Hes not consistent. We pay him way too much money to be missing kicks like that.

I agree on so much here but with GZ its like with Wade.
He just sent us to a SB with the most clutch 55+ FG ever in our history.

Human beings have ups and downs espescially in football. I don't know why this season there are so many expectations of excellence that are just practically impossible to obtain. Like Gurley and the homeruns.... just how good is not great enough? McVay being Martz, Gurley being done, Wade being passed by, McVay figured out.... does anybody see what I am saying here?
As fans we are always going to overreact.... but ROD used to be a little more grounded and a lot more patient with their sword rattling..... then we sniffed some success and acted like it was glue....

It's a hard loss to take because of that bogus Matthew's roughing the passer call. If not for that does Seattle come away with a TD, FG, or turn it over on downs? That was a critical call!

I can take this loss because the Rams played, the defense gave the the chance to win, and GZ had the game on him and it just didn't happen.

The sky ain't falling and the Rams still have control. Just take SF down next game and we know Seattle has to come to town.
