While I'm not sure he isn't in the elite conversation. I think he's better than any alternatives out there. I love Jared man, I'll let everyone know that right now. I loved him in college, I love the fact he still does some things he did in college, evading sacks and delivering strikes. I love the fact when he's on fire, he cannot be stopped. I also like the fact he's clearly improved against pressure. I think Jared is a very good quarterback. The problem is, Goff was damned the minute he played his first 6 games. People on this forum, in the media, will find anyway to discredit him. When he's playing at a high level, its thanks to everyone except himself. When he's struggling, its all on him and there are no excuses. Jared is having a down year so far, it happens man. Our entire team today was complete ass cheeks. And the man still threw for over 500 yards with a 66% completion percentage.
There are those who believe he needs to take the next step. What is the next step? Aaron Rodgers? Drew Brees? Maybe playing as well as the other two quarterbacks he was drafted with? I think right now, our offense isn't where it needs to be because he is missing guys he normally hits. He needs to get his head out of his ass in terms of some of the shit he's throwing. But I'm not buying the "He's regressed" narrative. The ball came out quicker last year because no one had a way of stopping us. Now they do, and we are finding ways to score anyway. I've said it before, I'll say it again. We are in the process of evolving. Some of you said its all on Goff, you are correct; but that's the problem. Our running game isn't there yet this season, so he's being asked to throw more. Its subjecting him to more bad throws that end in turnovers, and fumbles.
If he doesn't adapt, and we can have that discussion. But for now, gone are the days where we dominated teams. We are in for a fight every game until Jared breaks his cocoon. If he does this all season, then we can talk about benching him. But right now is not the time. He needs to improve, and we need to enable him. Because as we can see, the defense is Jekyll and Hyde at the moment. Nothing is consistent, not even Sean McVay's play calling.
