I agree. The only reason Goff had time these last few games when he was in the pocket was due to the rollouts messing up the rush. They didn't know whether they should stay put for a roll out or rush the passer in the pocket. It gave Goff an extra second by doing this.
So if they roll out and the o-line doesn't give up a sack.. 0-lines fault they suck.

Got it.
2. Regarding the pass protection, From my perspective - the heavy use of rollouts started in the Cardinals game, this is when we saw the resurgence of offensive firepower. Before that was the Steelers Bears and Ravens games in which we averaged 12ppg and Goff was having massive pressure in his face. Before those games we had the Falcons and Bengals in which Goff did have some nice time in the pocket, but those two teams have bad defenses and close to no pass rush. So, good pass protection in those games, but not because of a great oline in my book, which was my main point. The Oline is not good enough and must be upgraded.

Seems to me the Rams keep in extra protection a lot to help the offensive line. I don't think it's just the rollouts. The Rams need to upgrade the offensive line. It could be the young guys step up or add a new piece or two. The Whiners adjusted to the rollouts and I think the Rams kept in more players to pass block. I don't know if I want to look at the game again but, it's going to be a long offseason so maybe at some point, I will.

What a strange season... 1) Gurley's erratic usage 2) Goff's up and down year, 3) the D -wtf?, 4) the trades in midseason, 5) the O-line injuries and THREE ROOKIES (basically) taking their places 6) the receivers all traded places... Higbee was a nice surprise, but Cooks injuries, Kupp was up and down, Woods was Woods, except for the game(s) he missed...

To sum up the season for me... it was the loss (or whatever you want to call it) of Todd Gurley. The Rams lost their offensive MVP, and they have not been the same since. Last night's game was just another example. And Goff cannot carry this team... yet. JMHO, of course.

This is on McVay, I'm not buying this BS story that Gurley has been banged up. I would not be surprised if Gurley told McVay to F___ Off and asked for a trade.

This season’s failures begin with poor Oline evaluation. And a poor drafting strategy. Thinking that Allen and Noteboom would be any good was a mistake. Relying on Demby as the main reserve was a colossal failure. Overspending in some areas, like Cooks and Gurley cripples the ability to keep Saffold or to sign quality Oline free agents. Not valuing the Oline in the draft for years is a big mistake. Every team needs a couple of studs on the Oline to function well in both pass and run blocking. A left Tackle and a center, two great guards to impose their will in the run game, etc.... Right now the Rams have zero studs on the Oline.

On defense, I’d hire a younger more energetic coach that players can relate to. I thought the energy on the sidelines was low for most of the season in all phases.

It took more than this one game to not go to the playoffs.
A play here and there cost us the game but not the season.

There is fight in this team. Despite the late drive and being beaten by the 49ers, i saw some fire in the team.
Carry this on to next week and then look forward to a big next season.
Looking forward to the new stadium, uniforms, and inevetibale changes on the roster.

Agreed.
Hope there is no bad blood there.
Gurley ran as hard as I'd seen him run all season.

I also don't think he is troubled by an injury, other than the issue he had earlier in the season.

But we really don't know that. That's what Ramsey seemed to be thinking. But we don't know the what the coverage was supposed to be -we're just speculating.
Well it was mentioned pretty often that Rapp looked way out of position to be covering anyone at all. Idk. Guess we never will

Why the fuck did the cameras show Robert Saleh so god damned much in each of our two games? I get it, the dude acts like a roided up body builder when his defense makes a stop and apparently coaches his entire defense to scream “LET’S GO!!!!!” every time they make a play. But what warrants showing him every single time that defense is on the field?
Because the networks have been building him up...and then his defense got 31 hung on it last night.

i bet that fucker is constipated this morning!

Great game for the most part. Sucks losing one like this, especially in this fashion and especially against the fucktards from the bay.

That was a tough loss.

And the four teams I hate the most are in the playoffs.

... just great. They all can’t win it can they?

I live on the east coast so when Goff threw the pick six with 50 seconds left in the first half I went to bed and hoped I would be surprised when I got on this board in the morning. Of course, there was no surprise except for the game ending as close as it did. My feeling was McVay cost them this game because of the way he is using his RBs. Let Gurley stay in the game and get in a rhythm don't keep taking him out for Henderson and Brown who never do anything anyway.

Tough loss, but we played a great game on the road against those bitches. Talking about Gurley.... what I've noticed this year is even when he gets to the 2nd level he seems to be lacking moves and quickness. I'm not a stats guy but I'd like to see the stats for him on yards after first contact or getting to the 2nd level. My guess is that avg. is way down. As well as long runs, which quite frankly I can't think of any this year compared to how many over the past 4 years?

It's been a rough year but how far we've come! Just 4 years ago a potential 9-7 record would have been a "Win". Doesn't make it much easier... but it's worth noting.

Mc Vay is still overrated and so is Wade Phillips with rushing three linemen. Both of them have to go.
Was that meant to be Blue font? Sure hope so...

That game was a microcosm of our season.

At times the offense went through the 49ers like shit through a goose. At other times, they looked like crap.

At times the D absolutely clamped down on the 49ers and didn't give them shit, at other times their O went through our D like ours did through theirs.

And in the end, a couple of poorly executed zone calls allowed them to convert a couple of 3rd and 16's ...

Just not our year.

I agree with that, BUT if Minny does lose twice, I shall curl up in my happy place and wait for the draft.
I dont think Minny will go all out to win these last 2 now. Maybe if they prefer the 5th seed but I doubt it

Not only was it 3rd and 16.. there was still 1:34 on the clock. A stop there would have given the Rams the ball with decent field position and 2 time outs left.
Last year AD would have gotten home and sacked Jimmy QBG. This year we get a shit sandwich at the worst time

I didn't want to start a whole thread. But I found some stats for Gurley that shows his explosive plays. Not sure what the numbers show... lack of O-line like '16? Or has he just lost explosiveness? Make of it what you will.......

Ramsey claims that he was playing what was called and thought he(Rapp) would be covering over top, but he wasn’t there.

Gurley takes himself out

Not at the start of a series, that’s McVay.

He’ll tap his helmet when he needs a breather, yes.

Whoops, I took a wrong turn at Albuquerque! Leaving in 1,2,3....
