I agree. The only reason Goff had time these last few games when he was in the pocket was due to the rollouts messing up the rush. They didn't know whether they should stay put for a roll out or rush the passer in the pocket. It gave Goff an extra second by doing this.
So if they roll out and the o-line doesn't give up a sack.. 0-lines fault they suck.
Got it.
2. Regarding the pass protection, From my perspective - the heavy use of rollouts started in the Cardinals game, this is when we saw the resurgence of offensive firepower. Before that was the Steelers Bears and Ravens games in which we averaged 12ppg and Goff was having massive pressure in his face. Before those games we had the Falcons and Bengals in which Goff did have some nice time in the pocket, but those two teams have bad defenses and close to no pass rush. So, good pass protection in those games, but not because of a great oline in my book, which was my main point. The Oline is not good enough and must be upgraded.
Seems to me the Rams keep in extra protection a lot to help the offensive line. I don't think it's just the rollouts. The Rams need to upgrade the offensive line. It could be the young guys step up or add a new piece or two. The Whiners adjusted to the rollouts and I think the Rams kept in more players to pass block. I don't know if I want to look at the game again but, it's going to be a long offseason so maybe at some point, I will.
