If McVay is going to allow Morris to choke the life out of the defense he needs to improve the offense. What they need is a legit RB threat to balance the offense out. This team becomes one dimensional in the second half because the run attack is pathetic. It's really clear that the Rams got rid of the only real RB threat they had. It's why McVay needs to see what they have in Zach Evans. He's 5'11 with 4.4-4.5 speed. Who knows they may already have a Taylor like RB on the roster.

That is why in the second half when teams realize the Ram run game is basically nonexistent they simply tee off on Stafford. No OL can protect when the defense knows you can't run. The Rams MAKE THEMSELVES ONE DIMENSIONAL they have two move the chains type RBs and don't even use them well. There isn't a true RB threat either running the ball or as a receiver, so they simply play pass defense and send everyone with no regard to the run game.
This is the huge failure of Sean's offense. They need another Gurley like threat at RB to back off the opposing front 7. Stop and think about it. When Goff was behind a decent OL and had Gurley this offense was unstoppable with Kupp and Woods. Well, they have a decent OL and better WRs with Kupp, Nacua, Atwell and Jefferson. But this offense can't be sustained for a full game. The reason is very clear....no RB threat. Williams doesn't scare anyone after 4 games they can tell he's good not great and McVay stops using him. So their entire defensive game plan is stop the passing game. How do you do it? Simply overwhelm the OL. McVay's pass routes are slow developing so they will have time to get to Stafford. They know he's not going to run so that is a huge factor.
On most plays Hurts has only 2 reads and if they aren't there he runs. This is why people are going crazy over Caleb and Mayes because they are the same way. But that isn't how the Seahawks and Rams use their QB. It's why IMO both teams will target Penix. He is a pocket passer who can read the field quickly, tries to move to extend the play always looking downfield, then runs only when he must. Penix has 4.5 speed. If he goes to the SeaChickens that will be bad news for the Rams, it will be like facing Lamar Jackson or Mahomes twice a year.
That is why I expect the Rams to pull out all the stops. This will be like how they stole Stafford away from the Niners. The Seahawks haven't hidden their interest in Penix. It's why Smith's contract is structured so they can trade or release him in 2025. If the SeaChickens get Penix does that mean Geno Smith becomes the Ram's QB?
I disagree with Caleb being a 2 read QB - he goes thru all his reads but he takes forever at it before he is done and usually has to scramble to finally find the open guy. Caleb definitely needs to improve his read time to be a great QB in the NFL. He has all the other skills.
