Tutu leads the NFL in two receiving categories:

Percentage of catches for a first down, he is tied with several others at 100%.

Yards per reception, he is alone at the top at 52 YPC.

Woohoo!!

C'mon now, if someone had told you five weeks ago that Tutu would be leading the NFL in 2 receiving categories, you would've taken that deal, right?!? I mean... technically that's true...:eyeroll:

Grumpy sarcasm aside--In all seriousness-- Tutu looked good creating separation, and his ball tracking skill looked top notch. (I thought he got some separation and tracked the ball well on the incompletion, too). Wonder how he'd do if he got more opportunities. He still seems like a bust, but that bomb can give us a glimmer of hope...?

They need to give him an end around, or at least pretend to. Make the other teams defense do something besides come straight up the middle at us.

I think it is more about giving him a chance than on him. He obviously has real skills. We are struggling to use them.

If he has the speed, why do we not use him on jet sweeps? He's a one trick pony ATM just running deep.

I would disagree Powell to me doesn’t add anything special. Tutu was drafted high and hasn’t even been given a chance to know what he is or isn’t.

We'll have to disagree. then. I think Powell has more heart, better vision and doesn't shy from contact. Draft position means squat, to me.

We clearly need to lock him up for 5 years immediately.

Seriously though, to make him effective, they're going to need to put him on the field and hit him some curl/comebacks with all the space his defender gives him.

They hit this play with the Cowpokes knowing he was going long because he's on the field. Mix it up and it will make more space for ARob and Kupp.

Like has been posted before, use him like DJ.

Not that we've seen it from Atwell but seems to me Powell is more twitchy and can change gears, something that is more handy on that play than the pure 0-60mph speed.
 
McVay's comments seemed to indicate Tutu is on the rise in terms of usage. I'll say this... When you beat teams deep all of a sudden those intermediate routes become a lot easier. Tutu might be easy to put hands on and limit in his routes but not if you're worried about him roasting your ass.

So of course this comes back to the protections too. But I am looking forward to seeing if Tutu can build on what he's done so far.

To be fair, he’s been open deep on a few of his limited plays this season. Staff has been off target on at least two passes where tutu has his man beat. That connection comes with reps.
