Ryan Pace really traded up for Mitch Trubisky and is going to now trade for Carson Wentz.

Makes Billy Devaney look smart.

That's crazy was just thinking of today having beers getting interviewed. lol

I’ll be very curious to see what Wentz brings.

I wouldn’t expect it to be all that much under his contract, but it only takes one team to love him
I am guessing a #1 and a #3. Especially if there are multiple teams bidding.

I don't like the metrics of this trade for the Bears. How much does he help them over what they had, not sure that he's better than just sticking with Trubitsky, both those options are bad IMO. How well does he fit there, IMO they'll be drafting another QB soon i.e. next year's draft.

There is a pretty large gulf between a guy like Stafford and Wentz. Stafford got through that young vet period and built his game. If Chicago gives up any sort of haul for Wentz they're gonna be a laughingstock. But I suppose Bradford taught us that talent at QB means you'll get a bazillion chances lol.

I will say that there's something to be said for hunting for a QB by sorting the discard pile. You can certainly hit that way. But I just think the Bears are a stupid team and a stupid organization and this time next year they'll be looking for a coach.

People were saying, we traded a first and a third for Stafford, and traded another first to get rid of Goff's contract

Here’s another reason why I think that whole one and three for Stafford was bull shit.

Adam Schefter is reporting that Carolina offered this year’s #1 along with Bridgewater and a #5 for Stafford.

The Panthers #1 is eighth-overall. I would think that is more valuable than the Rams’ #1s in 2022 and 2023 which would both be projected to be in the 20s.

And plus future picks lose a round per year of waiting on JJs chart.

Exactly. I posted this earlier in the thread, but this is where the Lions’ interest in Goff is key. Reports were that they actually wanted Goff - he wasn’t just a salary cap dump. The Lions actually viewed Goff as an asset - that’s how the Rams got over the hump and beat out Carolina and Washington’s offers. 2 future late 1st round picks weren’t gonna cut it. Including Goff is what put it over the top and got the Stafford deal done.

I think we got lucky with a trade partner who actually wanted those picks in two different years because their model is a slow and deliberate rebuild. In a year or two that desire might change of course but it sure served us well.

Also Goff is very durable. Which is important in a rebuild QB. And he will have a chance to be the guy too if he plays well. So one of those trades that IMO helps both teams as well as both QBs. Some will tell me that Goff was not helped by this but it's not good for him to be making big money for a contender when he's gotta rebuild his game.

Thought this thread was about Golf, so nevermind!

The issue is this. If we fid not include Goff in the Stafford trade then everyone would knoe we had to get rid ogf goff and it would be the talib trade. I.e. pay someone to takt giff.

ideally we would have traded goff prior to the stafford deal. That did not happen
Lol it looks like you started drinking early for the Super Bowl based on the spellinh

If you’re building something, you need the ammo to maneuver.

Having it “stockpiled” feels like a good “new GM“ strategy. Sorta buys some patience.

Bears have a championship caliber defense, with a short window of opportunity left (like the Rams), but currently have no QB. Cant think you can win with Foles, Trubisky is gone, they didnt pick up his 5th year option.
Wentz has played at an incredibly high level at times in the NFL, while the injuries are alarming, I think he's definitely worth the risk for a team like the Bears.

The more other teams are navigating the waters looking for a QB, the more Stafford looks like a prize (and Goff, too, by extension).

Teams like the 9ers, Colts and Bears? Oof.

Really makes me wonder if the 9ers are contemplating sending Nick Bosa, another player and 3 1sts to the Texans for Watson... or if they gonna ride the Jimmy G train for another season...

It will be interesting comparing Niners approach to the Rams.

Niners might be willing to give JG another yr and possibly seeing what other options they will have next yr.... vs going all in, trading away multiple firsts and your 26 yr old QB for a 33 yr old quick fix and potentially short term solution.

I can see this happening.

Yikes. I hope not.

Dear 49'ers; Cousins is awesome. Go that route.
