OL decision making wrt coaches and the players under said coaches is a conversation worthy of much discussion. Carberry is really interesting too because he did get the job done. Now maybe it's safer to say Stafford got the job done in spite of the OL but that would overlook some of the good we had from that unit which isn't fair to them.No disrespect to McVay the OL with Whit was solid in 2021 but Carberry was let go 2022 the season where we had the worst Ol injuries in just under 50 years of any team in the league.
Question why was Carberry let go when 2022 was an EXTREME outlier. I would have kept him. The record of our new OL coach who was an asst OL coach was nothing to speak of. Buffalo was middle of the pack on a very successful team which makes the OL look better than they probably were.
I am of the mind that the unit starting slow in 2022 got him fired. But it could be argued that McVay's approach makes it hard to start the season with a unit playing well. So idk. But it's definitely an interesting thing to kick around.
