I don't want to be an Avila and Shelton apologist (the weak links) this season but maybe we should let the whole healthy line play together for a few games after just getting Hav back and having Avila out for a few games.

Also, I'm not big changing the guy who snaps the ball to our QB midseason with as decently as the offensive line is playing in pass pro.
My biggest thing would be the continuity... and the whole "perfect is the enemy of good" thing.
The Rams Oline is good right now.. and has quite a bit of continuity. McClendon was really solid as a backup at LT.. I think there's some interior depth that's decent. Biggest fear would be backup LT.

To be clear... that's all about in-season stuff. In the offseason, looking for upgrades would be good. Going from very good to dominant would be fun. But.. in the meantime, let's enjoy how good they're playing... from The Athletic today:

Sunday represented the first time they’ve had all five out there since Week 1, and it was the first game where all five played the entire time. Stafford took two sacks but just four total hits. His sack rate over the past two games is a minuscule 3 percent. And now, his season-long sack rate of 4.5 percent is his lowest since 2013, or eight years before the Detroit Lions traded him to the Rams.

I'm not seeing a lot openings for impact on defense. What kind of situational piece do you have in mind?
I don't really know - I just figured it would be easier to add a piece to D than O but I may be either underestimating what it takes to get on the same page defensively or overestimating what it takes offensively. I just bet that Les feels like this team is right there and if he can use a 2026 pick to get closer to a title - he is going to want to.

Spinal fusion sounds nasty. Can't have enough corners though.

Trade idea: Parkinson and a 7th to the packers for a 6th. They just lost Kraft
Why?
He's owed about 2.5 mill in salary for 2025 and would cause a dead cap hit of about the same. So no cap savings, no significant trade value, helps a potential playoff competitor and weakens the depth at TE which actually looked as if it was becoming a strength

Mincah Fitzpatrick anyone?

Jerry finally announced his move....

It's interesting to me because it says a lot about the Cowboys' current group of Off-Ball-Linebackers.

Dallas has a lot of them. Free agent acquisition Kenneth Murray (a former 1st round pick), three young veterans in Damone Clark, Shemar James and Marist Liufua (all recent Dallas 3rd-5th round draft picks) and well-regard but oft-injured DeMarvion Overshown (currently on IR but designated to return).

That's FIVE LBs that play the same position as Logan Wilson (and, I'm not counting LB/S Marqueses Bell).

You can only play two Off-Ball-LBs at a time; and one usually comes off-the-field in the Nickel.

As bad as the Cowboys' defense has been, to bring in another LB reflects poorly on a lot of players and recent Team acquisitions / draft decisions.

By-the-way, I thought the best player on the Bengals' defense in the Super Bowl was Logan Wilson ... although that was four years ago.

Honestly think this move doesn't do much as well. Jerry is just making moves to make it seem like he's improving the team or at least doing something. Everyone in that organization knows damn well they suck lol. More losing is on its way.

Now if we were somehow able to steal Denzel Ward that would be great. Other than that I doubt we make a move.

I would dangle our first for Denzel Ward. Whether the Browns trade him or not, who knows - but IMO with that level of CB, we would be come Super Bowl favorites.
My understanding from what I see and have read of Ward is that he's excellent in man coverage but struggles in zone. And we primarily play zone.

He may not be the greatest fit.
