What makes this salary of Burns look good is our current overpaid best edge rusher Leonard Floyd will have a cap hit in 2023 of
$23 million. I am sure the Rams can
not afford to make a trade like this with so much cap invested in 2 ER's that are not that good.
Snead could get out of that contract but he will face a $19 million Dead Cap in 2023. Not really a smart thing to do.
Leonard Floyd signed a 1 year, $10,000,000 contract with the Atlanta Falcons, including $10,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $10,000,000. In 2025, Floyd will earn, while carrying a cap hit of .

With the lack of pass rush being produced by our 3 ER's & the amount of cap invested in Floyd alone I do not see any ability to go into a trade for Burns where not only does his cap hit kills the team the cost in draft capital is far out of line.
Sneads best move at this time for the future is once again to retry the NFL draft to attempt to add the pass rush back into the ER room. Rams will have to keep Floyd till the end of his contract & face the fact it was a very bad decision to restructure his contract this past March & just play with the results as is. Rams will be paying millions for yrs after Floyd is retired.
