If paying less for a better and younger CB than Ramsey is an overpay sign me up for more. I like All Pros on our team. This is less than the Colts paid for Sauce.
That part is extremely true. Sauce was definitely a high price for sure. I personally would only want to ever trade multiple 1sts for a generational pass rusher or an extremely talented QB.

I just have to laugh at the overpay comments. This guy was a 1st team All Pro. He was one of the 2 best CB in the NFL. And we got him for less than we gave up for Ramsey. Absolutely comical.

Let's look at it this way. Last years 1st and the 4 picks for this got us Ferguson, McDuffie and pick 13. Unless I'm missing something this is a huge win.
It's hilarious. Seems like so many fans have the unrealistic expectation that we fleece the other team in every trade, doesn't matter the quality of player we get back.

Just checking in
Here to read about the improvement of the team portion of this thread as opposed to potential value or loss of value due to cost.

Great add, we are better today than we were when the season ended. Go Rams!
Gotta take in all the comments. I think everyone is definitely excited about the secondary being addressed at the end of the day. I know I am.

We'll see.

The impression I got yesterday from Snead's interview was that they could trade for a CB, they're gonna make some scheme changes, and they're gonna expect some internal development. Based on that and based on their history, I don't think they're gonna try to stack that room with two very good CBs. I'd be very surprised now if they use a very early pick on the position.

But maybe that's just me...
I suspect Shula wants to attack more. And he and Aubrey probably weren't on the same page philosophically on at least some of that. Lake was undoubtedly more open to a shift.

Also I have to say that when you're a coach and tell McVay this group of corners has what you need for this season, and then the wheels fall off and they get fuckin BBQ'd, there is a loss of faith in your opinion. Naturally so. We can say the corners let Aubrey down. But we can also say Aubrey for whatever reason didn't jump on the table enough for more talent on the back end.

And I have that opinion because the Rams are good at going after what they think they need. They do what they have to do. So them going with that corner group last season was fucking strange. It's like they completely disregarded it. But maybe what happened is the defensive pass game coordinator talked the boys up and believed in them. Lesson learned for Aubrey if true and he'll bounce back from it.

They need one more corner. You can get that in this FA group, or you can get it with one of our first three picks. And after that, they need some depth pieces for camp competition, but those can be late round or UDFA or even cheap FA. So I expect we'll see one FA added at CB, question is do they go after a CB2 or depth.

Damn, I love this team! After so many years of watching them flounder, this version with Mr. Kronke, Snead, McVay heading it up makes being a Rams fan SO more enjoyable.

Welcome to the Ramily, McDuffie.

What’s next on the menu?

just giving my honest knee jerk reaction.
This explains it. I will admit that my honest knee jerk reaction for EVERY Rams trade for my entire life is that we overpaid. And when we're trading a player it's that we got less than what we should've.

Par for the course for fans...aka fanatics. We're not biased at all or anything like that.

Let's remember all of the belly-aching around here about paying too much when the Rams moved up to grab Braden Fiske, who has obliterated that argument since then.

Didn't like reading this

Quite frankly I hope he takes quite a few snaps in the slot and Lake replaces Curl at safety.

I liked Lake there vs. some TEs and big slots, but not when teams moved an actual stud WR there.

Add a healthy Jermod McCoy at #13 and then that defense might be cooking with grease.

Exactly, we honestly don't know the true value until it all plays out.

And other than a couple of irrelevant "oh, that's a coincidence" comparisons with Peters, there's NO comparison with McDuffie's willingness to play with physicality and to tackle, and Peter's soft, no sticking my head in there style of tackling.
