Apparently via Schefter this is a done deal. The Chiefs also will receive fifth- and sixth-round picks in this year's draft and a 2027 third-round selection from the Rams, the sources told Schefter.

Nice, I'm glad we addressed our biggest issue before free agency and the draft. He's young and been relatively healthy. He did hurt his knee and missed last 4 or 5 games of the season but it was a hyperextension and not a serious, long term issue. I'm not sure I'd call him a CB that can be on an island on the outside but he has a lot of versatility and is a great tackler. A great piece for Shula to move around as needed.

I actually hope we don't trade back from 13 as I think there's going to be several great players still there to take as a BPA.

Not sure who anyone would be trading up for but hope springs eternal.
We do realize that it's very common for teams to fall in love with specific players, specific fits, right? Snead basically confirmed last year that the phones are ringing all the time. For the last several years, there have been reports of wild trade up offers the Rams made and the other team said no.

I don't buy the narrative that there will be no teams interested in trading.

I don't like that we gave up more than anticipated. This is exactly what I was talking about with Snead. He's too generous with picks imo. No way a 3rd for next year should have been included. Oh well, McDuffie is here. Our second should be much improved next year.

The 2027 3rd makes it a bit of an overpay but we are all in.
See someone gets what I was saying about Snead and his trading. Not that I don't like the player, the trade, just not a fan of how he offers too much. Chiefs were smart to extract that 3rd from us. That's the only part I'm not a fan of. However with all that said, it doesn't matter lol..... Welcome to the Rams McDuffie! You better ball out for us!

I never said teams aren't interested in trading. I questioned the particular target in this draft class. That said I've seen times post draft where teams said their phone wasn't ringing at the time of their selections. I watch former scout Bryan Broaddus point this out every year.

Besides, interest in moving up or trading down and coming to terms on such are two different things altogether.

We'll get that 3rd back when we lose Scheelhaase next offseason

Agreed on the last sentence. To your point there, I do imagine that we may have to accept a little less than normal in a relatively flat draft versus ones that have more defined talent tiers.

Perfect. Slight bit of an overpay but I imagine it was necessary to get the deal done if there were other offers. There was nothing we needed more this offseason than an all pro caliber CB and the draft is always a crapshoot.

In conclusion, f them picks.
Think Snead could have sent all that compensation with a 2nd instead of our 1st since KC was up against the cap pretty bad. We kinda bailed them out plus Snead saying he was willing to trade a 1st didn't help negotiations in my opinion. Just don't think we should have given a 1st when McDuffie is gonna require a new contract that pays him massively since CBs ain't cheap nowadays.
