He would be dumb to pick the Niners strictly because our defense owns him the last three or four years. Including Super Bowl.

When you wrote 'Nothing for the Whiners to give up', I thought you were suggesting Brady was a free agent.
Yep, Brady is still under contract with the Bucs & a ton of dead $$$$ into the future also. If the 9ers want him they will pay heavy IMO.

9ers have 28 players involved in FA'cy in less than a month.

That is the magic question, is he under contract or not? Per sportrac, "2022 salary fully guarantees 2/18/2022, voids with retirement". Obviously they dont have the full contract terms but it would seem the contract is either voided or its not. Not sure how a team maintains a players rights if contract is voided.

I'm guessing there's some language in their contract to prevent Brady from saying he's retiring only to change his mind a few months later so he can play on another team.
Well that's my whole point, there isnt a need for a retirement clause unless they are certain he is retiring. Reading thru the lingo provided by sportrac, it appears that they are able to work off the signing bonus dead money over the remaining years if he retires, but if he hasnt retired, its a huge cap hit for 2022
The way I am reading it, they were certain 2021 was going to be his last season, and now he's somewhat Favre-ing it

TOM BRADYQB, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT
Tom Brady

The Athletic's Mike Sando said the 49ers would be a good fit for Tom Brady should he come out of retirements and play in 2022.

"Perhaps he is finished, but if there is one bucket-list item for him remaining, it’s probably playing for the team he always wanted to play for but never did," Sando said. "His never-say-never comment could indicate a willingness to play only if the situation is absolutely perfect. I don’t think Tampa was that situation any longer." Sando's assessment comes on the heels of reports that the Bucs are holding out hope that Brady, 44, will undo his brief retirement and play in 2022. The Bucs, facing departures of several key players, are not nearly the attractive spot that they were in 2020 and 2021. The Niners, meanwhile, sport one of the league's most efficient offenses, with George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and an excellent running game awaiting a decent quarterback to take charge. With Jimmy Garoppolo at the helm, the 49ers had the league's sixth highest expected points added (EPA) per play. Meanwhile, Brady, who would be entering his age-45 season, is remarkably at the height of his powers.

Doesn't Tampa have to approve this since Brady was contracted and then retired? I'd laugh if TB said no

Maybe that's the loophole which is why he is looking unsure with all these leaks and breadcrumbs. It could have been spoken about with Tampa as basically an out. So Tampa isn't on the hook for any kind of money also a ty to Brady and then Brady is free to sign where he chooses and do it all over again.
So his official retirement voids the contract unless there is a stipulation on how long he must be retired which I don't see Tampa or Brady wanting anything like that in the contract anyhow.
This would be amicable. So Tampon is retired new league year will start as Brady being retired Tampa then can void the contract. Once it's voided it's done I'm sure nobody would put a clause in there to punish the G.O.A.T. as to him not being able to unretire for any period of time etc. Tampa is free of any cap related issues and then presto Brady is coming back out of retirement to choose his destination of choice. Seems sensible to me.

Ugh!!!

Honestly would hate the 69ers and Bitchy Brady even more than I already do if this happened. Probably means that those losers are perfect for each other.

I don’t think they have a true No. 1 honestly. Pitts is nice but they need a dominant one. Hilton is a little past his prime.
Brady doesn't need a true WR1. He's very good at spreading the ball as long as he's got good matchup totals.

But SF is definitely a better fit. I just hope they're out if TB considers a return.

Brady had Evans, Godwin, Brown, Gronk, Fournette, etc. - along with a good OL. It doesn’t get much better for a QB than that.

I would love for the Rams to beat the Brady Niners twice next year. Come on out to the West Coast, Tommy Boy. The media copulation will be disgusting, but the it will be fun after each Brady loss.....

Who cares if he comes back. If he does we'll send him into retirement again. We're going to be a lot better next year.

You mean THREE times a year ;)
(if the Niners make it into the playoffs).

Personally, in a business situation involving millions of dollars on practically all decisions, it would be stupid for TB to just let him go to the whiners.

There is no way a player can retire and then sign a contract the very next season without some sort of compensation.

So the question becomes, what are the whiners willing or able to give up for a 45 year old fading QB.

Just go away Tammy. Your family is more important than your ego.

Tampon signed him to a contract that has one more year remaining. They did that to manipulate the salary cap. But Tampa has him signed for another year whenever that cheater decides he wants to return and play. Cheater can take a year off... he'll still be owned by Tampon when he tries to come back.

Tampon won't be giving him away for free. I've also heard that they are not likely to allow him to go to another NFC team unless that team pays way too much for him. They'd prefer not to have to face him in their conference unless the offer is totally sweet.

It might be unusual but likely depends on the contract. It could be written to give Brady a de facto opt out clause if exercised early on. It would also apparently nullify any further contract money obligation by TB. So after that maybe no compensation required.

Let him go there. Chance to beat his brains in twice a year. Got him in Tampa, will get him in SF.
No one stops father time, it gets all of us.
He will just get weaker and weaker.
