I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but I’d be fine with Fannin in the first round if Loveland and Warren are gone (which I expect at this point). He’s is a seriously talented receiver (and yes, I also see Aaron Hernandez without the character issues) whose blocking is actually quite underrated (advanced stats show that he’s actually very good at blocking), and we won’t get him in round three.

Credit to @OldSchool for the Fannin love; I’m fully on the Fannin to LA train, even if we have to use a first.
1st is likely a stretch but a 2nd if we trade down for sure. A lot think he'll be a 3rd rounder so maybe if we trade back in the 1st to get a 2nd and trade up in the 3rd it could happen. But he would be amazing like @jrry32 said he's different with the ball in his hands and if it's thrown to him he catches it.

Hernandez was a 4th round pick.

1st is seriously high for Fannin. His range is probably more late 2 through 4.

And there's some questions about why he stayed at Bowling Green and didn't transfer, he was already a star by his Sophmore year. But if he's not a dum dum then I'd love to get him in the third, maybe 2nd if we maneuver there.

Yeah, think we're good to trade down. With the depth at TE in this draft, no need to force a pick.

EDIT: That said, if projections change in the next month or two, I'd be fine with taking him in the late first round. I love his game.

Don't know why that would create questions.

EDIT: Reading this article, sounds like the Bowling Green HC was there for Fannin and his family when Fannin's sister died of cancer in 2023:

This could be the answer but basically, the assumption is there was NIL money beating down his door after his success sophomore year and why wouldn't he have taken it and instead stayed in BG.

Why didn't Ashton Jeanty transfer from Boise State? Who knows. Why is it an important question? I'm not following what the implication is here.

I'd be for it if he's BPA but not if he's overdrafted in the 1st. With the WR room mostly fixed, they should be able to go BPA now.

Hernandez was a first round pick based on talent alone; his character and gang involvement dropped him to the fourth.

As for why Fannin stayed at Bowling Green instead of going to a “better” college, I don’t think that really matters. He led all college players in yards and receptions, while snagging ten touchdowns and blocking for a potent running game.

You don’t need to go to somewhere “better’ if where you’re currently at works for you and if you’re comfortable there. It’s not just football; it’s life. We forget that Fannin currently isn’t old enough to legally drink yet (he won’t turn twenty-one until June).

He’s a kid who felt comfortable enough at Bowling Green to stay. If anything, that should be commended.

A few here underrate Warren imo, which is their right. But if you pay attention to McVay and the Rams it seems like a logical deduction that Sean would love to have Warren on the Rams.

He’s tried to trade up for a playmaking Tight end in round one of the 2023 and 24 drafts. Plus he recently talked about wanting his offense to be more versatile. Warren checks both boxes.
I have no qualms with playing without 1rd picks again in 2026,
especially if it lands us this absolute game changing inline TE.

The problem is Warren is routinely mocked top ten. Which means there are some teams see him in the upper half of round one, and since this year's class isn't heavy on bluechips in the top ten... He ain't gonna make it anywhere near us.

But I agree with the idea that if he does McVay might try to jump up for him. Thing is we would probably need to jump to the low teens at the very least, as I don't think he gets past Indy at 14.

On one hand, I get it. This 2025 team could use one more difference maker on offense to be a strong SB contender. But giving up the 2026 1st is problematic because next year might be when the Rams want to make a major move to get the QB of the future.

Great point. I am excited for offseason moves, either way.

FWIW, Rams may go with an eat your veggies offensive weapon at tackle who plays sparingly this year.

Yes. They could t get to from 19 - 12 last year. Trading up isn’t easy. But, maybe if teams look at players from 8-50 as being similar, one could be persuaded. I agree it’s unlikely, but one can dream, especially with all of the positive Rams vibes from the last few days.

I think they load up at CB. Copy what Philly did last year. Make this D dominant. Can still get a TE in the 3rd and a developmental OT in the 4th.

They can def go that direction, they can basically go in any direction right now though I think CB edges everything a little bit at this time.

Agree. Get a top CB early. Get the TE in the third - whether than be Fannin, Ferguson, Helm. Plenty of options. We don’t need a guy to play big TE minutes anyway with Higs, Colby, etc

Well here's a eat your veggies route that no one is talking about: IOL / OT, Grey Zabel. He'd turn our OL into an elite unit and looks like he could start at RT too when Hav is done.
