Yeah, fast guys are pigeon-toed. Deion was famously pigeon-toed. My son was as a kid and I remember the doctor telling my wife that he is probably fast... and yeah he was. Was a heck of CF in HS & college.

Anyway, nothing against him personally, I just dont see him excelling against the best of the best despite his good performances against Penn St etc...
Penn State had a good secondary personnel wise, but I don’t think the defense played to the DBs strengths. Every team with a decent Oline (Bowling Greens was all or mostly all Seniors) just through quick short passes all game. Tom Allen (DC) didn’t really adjust to it. He seemed content to let it happen and focus on not allowing the big plays. So, any pass catcher having a big game against Penn State isn’t as impressive imo. Oregon did the same thing with Tez Johnson. Underneath stuff most of the game.

What I have noticed and remembered about playing sports is that those people with that bounce in their Achilles, their heels not easily hitting the floor, tend to be fast runners.

Now, at my advanced age, I ask people with that giddy up, and they check the box.
One of the biggest factors in being fast is long shins. Think about Ostrich legs. If you look at Olympic sprinters they all have long shins.

A lot of draft busts or medicore NFL players have big games in college against big schools. It's not uncommon.
A lot of draft picks have great tape against all opponents and are busts. I guess I don't see an issue with his running when he's producing like he does.

Rams love them some 3 cone drill with their pass catchers, will be curious to see how these TE's net out there.
Yeah I wonder if Bowling Green uses the tracking to give the in game measurements than the Rams prefer over combine drills.

Taylor at 26 in the 1st or 3rd? I'm thinking he's somewhere around pick 80.
Taylor at #26 would not upset me in the least.
If he was the guy the Rams wanted, they certainly could not expect him to be ther at #90, so why not?

In an ideal world we could trade back and get a TE in the 2nd from this group and then take a flyer on one of the speed/size WRs late 3rd if some of them are still there but the Rams have shown if they love a player they'll just stay put and draft.

Because there are better players that would have a much bigger impact on the team as a whole that are going to be available. Much better than taking a 2nd/3rd round TE in the 1st.

That’s the conundrum. The Rams don’t have a 2nd round pick.

Loveland, Egbuka, Barron, Golden, Revel Jr, Morrison, Burden, Aloymanor, Harris Jr, Arroyo, Royals, Fannin Jr. Just a few of the WR/TE/CB would all be better in the 1st than Taylor. Now if we trade down to say 26th pick in the 2nd I could see Taylor but like Bech I think he's a huge reach in the 1st based on current info. Can always change and I think both he and Bech would be good Rams but I just can't see them in the 1st.

He does. He is duck footed. Now I’m no expert, and I’m not trying to be funny but I feel like being duck footed would/could negatively affect your change of direction.

Versus an athlete who is pigeon toed, or normal toed(?)

I’m gonna have to meet you half way here because I don’t necessarily think every guy you mentioned is a better pick, but I would not bitch about some of the others you mentioned—just not seeing them there at #26.
….but who knows, I did not see Verse being there at #19, right?

Now he looks very smooth. My only concern is with him being the son of an NFL star, so is he hungry? I think Hopkins lacked that hunger and thst was his downfall.

I don't stack a board or spend too much time on big boards other than using them to get lists of who to look at. To me he looks right in line with the 25-45 types who usually go off the board before we're up. So I'm expecting him to go off by round 2.

Maybe I'm wrong though, and with this class who knows given how many of these dudes there are. But to me he looks like a day one starter, which for a TE usually don't last too long.

Great thread @WestCoastRam .

This is definitely a draft where I wish the Rams had their 2nd round pick. Fiske was worth it, just would be nice to get one of these day two picks. They won't be there at 90, and that's a bummer.

In a way he wasn't when you consider how deep this draft is in DT. Too bad they didn't take a diff position and stuck at their pick last year. I like Fiske, but it's ashame they couldn't have waited a year for that DT pick.

Higbee looked great when he came back, completely changed the offense, and I do believe this is the last year on this contract. He is injury prone and inconsistent, but I would be comfortable rolling the dice he can be healthy enough and punting on the TE position in this year's draft if the right player does not fall to us. If you have a stud waiting there you have to take him. Imagine Bowers in horns! But between Higbee and Parkinson, we have a good chunk of money invested in that position group already, and it is not one I consider essential. I think we can move on from both Higbee and Parkinson pretty easily the season after this upcoming one. That might well be a better time to add a TE. Not sure what that TE draft class looks like though. This one is apparently very good.
