When tutu was drafted, I was in disbelief but I also believed in les and Sean's research and decisions.

Actually, I said, well I hope they didn't fuck this up, so I do t know how far up the confidence scale that is, however, I have since warmed to the idea and I hope my initial reaction makes Columbus' mistake look like having the toaster at the wrong setting.

No one will know until at least several games in if Allen hurts or helps the effectiveness of the offense, but if its the former, then it won't matter if tutu does well.

I think tutu will be a nice addition and I hope Allen's production will prove that we didn't need to draft a center but we just don't know right now.
Kevin O’Connell thinks he already knows about Brian Allen.Go look at his interview.call me impressed.

So we've sucked at C and gone 43-21? And that's a weakness? Maybe it's hard to have pro bowl players at every position? Maybe fans evaluations are just that....easy chair evaluations; Monday evaluations; etc.

FWIW, I thought Sullivan served a terrific purpose and was lucky. He was just the right guy to make the line calls and snap the ball to an inexperienced QB. He was lucky he made it 2 years. Allen took over for him in 2019 and got much criticism. Blythe took over for him mid season and continued in 2020. Of the 3, IMHO Blythe was #3. I think the McVay playbook was pared more for Blythe than Goff. But I have no way to confirm that assumption.

I watch the QB, RB and WRs during games and take notice of the O line when they pick up a blitz, block downfield or blow a block. Consequently, I couldn't evaluate any of the 3 centers. Last year, when fans were saying Blythe was better than Allen, I went to GamePass to watch the first half of 2019. IMHO, Allen was decent at C. Even better because of his 4th round draft slot. Was he pro bowl material? No. But he wasn't as bad as most made him seem to be. Early in week 6, once Noteboom went down the line changed. It's conceivable Allen was charged with helping the rookie Edwards (a tackle at Wisconsin). So 5 games was the length of any fair evaluation on Allen, unfair to the 1st year starter. And by week 9 he was gone along with Havenstein.

But for all the angst, anger and criticism of Allen, the offense averaged 28 PPG over those first 5 weeks with 2 first year starters inserted. And the Rams were 3-2, a missed 44 yard FG at the gun from 4-1. Admittedly, I'm no OL aficionado but to this laymen's eye test, I didn't see reason for all the angst. With the offense's production, even less. Now, the "insiders" are saying Allen has bulked up and looks good at C. If he is, then I guess McVay ain't as ignorant of our weaknesses as some think. We'll see.
Part of your argument is nonsense. You can a win a lot of games and still have weaknesses. Wins does not correlate to "you have a good center". You can have the worst center in the league and still be in the Superbowl. But that does not mean you shouldn't upgrade the position if possible. The Rams wanted Corbett to play center and thought Evans was ready to take over at guard. They let Blythe, who is now playing backup to a rookie, but " he surprises everyone by getting a (near league minimum) deal with the two time Superbowl winning Chiefs" :laugh2:, walk away. He was not good at pass blocking.

Now maybe Allen has actually improved, or maybe it's coach speak. I watched every game since 2006, 2 or 3 times. You may think Allen was good, most of us didn't. His run blocking was bad. I guess if you are watching with rose colored glasses, then you could see some good from his starts in 2019. Hopefully he's now a better player. Since he wasn't a part of the preseason plan this year. Evans looks even worse than imagined, it sure seems like he
'Allen's a starter by default, which means he was simply better than Evans, which isn't difficult to be by NFL standards.

In the end, right now, all we have to go by is Allen's 2019 starts. You can be positive and believe he's suddenly a very good center, and I'll be skeptical and base my opinion on what I saw instead of what I imagine will happen. I have to see it before believing a coach whose off-season plan got blown up and needed to make a change. I don't understand why that is a problem for some people. We don't alk share the same opinion.

Yeah, he was awesome. Not in terms of skill, but more so in terms of just being a righteous dude.

“You suck Case!”

“LOL no U. I’m Case MF Keenum and you’re John from Bass Pro Shop. I win.”

What was the point of making this thread? Stir shit up and make himself out to be a martyr who knows better than you. Classic Avenger.
Do I know you?

You don't know what the word "martyr" means, by the way.

I knew there would be a few people who would get their feathers ruffled by this thread. Generally speaking, I don't mind it if I offend all the right people. Sometimes, that is a side effect of being candid.
