And I don't think the 'big names' are realistic.Other than the few big names nobody.

The reset is in place. Les will USE THOSE F***ING PICKS lolAnd I don't think the 'big names' are realistic.
Agreed, I wasn't advocating trading them just bringing them up.And I don't think the 'big names' are realistic.
I think I'd wait till after the Dallas game. I'm not sure there is any one guy out there that makes us a legit playoff team. I'm ok with trading for a proven guy as long as its not a half year rental. I'd prefer it be for someone they think can be a good player for them over the next few years. This not like the Von Miller trade where he was the missing piece to a championship team. We're more than one player away.
I wouldn't touch him. Not a fan of young, high talent types who miss games and have excuses for not living up to their talent but expect top end pay.He has done absolutely nothing to warrant being paid on the franchise tag. You don't franchise a 4 year who hasn't played a full season and has 14 career sacks in 33 games played. That's a terrible move for a team. I get wanting the guy but some of the ideas about him I just cannot get behind. Trade for him sure. A 3rd round pick maybe, a 4th or 5th sure do it. Franchise him? Hard hard hard pass.
I disagree with your last assumption. Chase Young and Montez Sweat both will want a big contract and are represented by the same agency, Kluth sports. Will they be able to get all itch to agree to differently sized contracts for both clients? I think it makes sense for them to want to trade one of them, it can be hard on the cap to pay two top edge rushers very large contracts.I wouldn't touch him. Commodes are a shit team but them wanting to move a young edge tells us a lot.
Why are people acting like a third round pick is some incredible thing? There is roughly a 10% chance of a third round pick becoming a Pro Bowler. While I value our third round pick, I'm not going to overvalue it. Chase Young is 24 years old. Byron Young, the promising EDGE we drafted this year, is one year OLDER than Chase Young. Smart teams know when to take risks and know when to buy low.It would be downright idiotic for the Rams to depart with what will likely be a top-half 3rd round pick for a pending free agent without any guarantee of a long-term contract. Read the tea-leaves. We are reloading. You don't make that sacrifice unless you have plans to advance/put you over the top in the current year. And that's just not happening this year (as we all know).
Washington is in a bind. They have already paid Jonathan Allen and DaRon Payne big money. Montez Sweat and Chase Young are both hitting FA this year. There is no way they can afford to keep both. That's why they're willing to move on, not because Young and/or Sweat lack ability. They are simply facing reality. They aren't going to contend, and they're going to lose one of those guys this offseason, no matter what. Let's take advantage.I wouldn't touch him. So a greater or lesser chance than Young becoming a Pro Bowler for us? And if we have to resign him the 3rd round pick will cost a lot less. Seems like a better gamble to use the draft pick. I wouldn't trade a 3rd for our old friend Samson Ebukam and he's been as productive and a good deal healthier. I get wanting to gamble on Young and he very well may deliver but I don't get some of the draft pick suggestions and especially don't get the franchise tag talk. There is roughly a 10% chance of a third round pick becoming a Pro Bowler.
Jrry, for me, it's not the player. Hell, I totally agree he's a tremendous buy-low/high upside talent (that also comes with risks, as they all do). Plays a high-need and impactful position, too. Agree with all that. Why are people acting like a third round pick is some incredible thing? There is roughly a 10% chance of a third round pick becoming a Pro Bowler. I think we'd be buying low on Chase Young. This is a guy who went #2 overall in the NFL Draft and was considered a #1 overall talent. He had a good rookie year. He took a step back as a sophomore and then suffered a season-ending knee injury midway through the year that made him miss most of his third season too. He returned to the field this year and has 5 sacks in 6 games.
Would this be a risky trade? Sure. But there's also a lot of upside. Young might get injured again. Young's good play early this season might prove to be a mirage. Those are the risks. But on the other hand, Young might be a #2 overall talent finally coming into his own. And if that is the case, we may have a 10+ sack per year type edge rusher for the next 5-8 years. We might have the guy whose production in his final year at OSU was on par with Joey Bosa's best year and better than Nick Bosa's best year at the same school.
Do I like trading our a third round pick? No. But he's 24 years old and has a huge amount of potential. He has length, power, speed, agility, and hand use. The guy gave Garrett Bolles, a LT some folks want us to acquire, the business this year.

It’s worth spending money on pro bowl talent and production. It would a nice problem to have if Chase’s play led to us offering him a second contract that tied him to the organization during another SB windowIf the Rams don't win today against the Cowboys, they are not going to contend for a playoff spot. Why then would they sink draft capital for a player that is an 8 game rental or someone who they are going to have to spend a ton of money on to keep after these 8 games.
