Watching all of the major fallout from the cheating Astros in baseball that is everywhere right now... I can't help but to compare the glaring differences in the way the NFL and MLB have handled it. And let's be specific here... I'm talking about the Cheating pile of shit in New England with the NFL.

I know that all of this has to make Belicheat and little Bobby Whack-N-Cheese cringe in a big way right now... and many of their cheating players too. They are no doubt realizing just how ridiculously lucky they were with the slaps on the wrists they've received from their league for their YEARS of continued cheating. Their skin must feel like there are millions of tiny insects crawling all over their bodies right now while they're watching the spectacle that MLB is going through with their cheating.

While the NFL burned evidence and did everything possible to hide what they discovered... MLB is showing some real outrage that the integrity of their game was seriously compromised. The differences are enormous. I am not a big fan of baseball... but I applaud them for not treating this in the disgraceful manner that the NFL did and continues to do today.

Here's what I feel about comparing the two acts of cheating directly to each other....

Knowing what pitch is coming certainly takes away a level of difficulty with hitting a baseball from a MLB pitcher. However... the batter still has to hit the ball. I know from experience... a pitcher of that skill level can tell you himself what pitch he's about to throw you and you still won't be able to hit it. Hitting a baseball thrown by a MLB pitcher is the hardest thing to do in sports.

What the Cheatriots did was even worse. Knowing the actual play the offense is going to run enables the defense to prepare to stop them almost completely. Yeah... the offense can still win a play or two even with that disadvantage, but they will never win the game. What they did with their filming and stealing signals gave them a much bigger advantage than what the Astros did.

Cheating on the level that we've seen in both situations is an absolute disgrace. And again, seeing MLB treat it that way is something that is needed. They may not even be finished with possible penalties either. They could have handled things better... but at least they aren't dealing with this in the basically criminal way that the NFL did and continues to do.

Those cheating pieces of shit in New England are squirming like the maggots that they know they are right now. They CAN'T WAIT for baseball to sweep it away like the NFL did. LOL. I'm comforted a little knowing that this is haunting them 24 hours a day right now.

I hope that the NFL will deal with them for their filming of the Bungles last season with the severe harshness that their continued cheating deserves. The league has to be watching this shit with baseball knowing that they need to step up to the plate themselves. I hope so anyway.

The difference between the NFL and MLB in how their situations were handled is surprising to me. MLB really did a good job punishing and defaming everyone related to it. The NFL? Well hell let's burn the tapes.

MLB won a ton of respect with me.

We all know if those taps got out it would have completely tarnished the Pats Superbowl win. The NFL didn't want that so they got rid of the evidence. It's sad because even if the NFL took the trophy from the pats they didn't even need to give it to the Rams and more people would have been satisfied with that outcome.

I disagree, the Astros got a slap on the wrists just like the Cheatriot. Both can still call themselves champions. Manfred is the worst commissioner in sports.

I feel terrible for the Astros fans who celebrated what they thought was a hard-earned series. My late uncle was amongst them.

Which means that Luhnow and Cora can go straight to hell.

.

you guys realise the nfl only destroyed the tapes the cheats willingly gave up to them. they didn't raid their offices, they told them they were coming and wanted the tapes.

their whole library of tapes is still with them.

What both teams did was bad. What Astros did absolutely gave them an advantage. A bigger advantage than what the Cheatriots did. Sure, some pitchers are good enough to tell them what's coming and maybe they still can't hit it. But most pitchers rely on keeping hitters off balance. They force hitters to change their two strike approach to make contact with the ball. Knowing what pitch is coming allowed them to take their A swing on every pitch. Not just when they're ahead.

The ones who were true victims would be the guys on the bubble. Still trying to get their shot at the bigs. Imagine coming in the 7th inning facing a team of talented hitters that knows what is coming. The pitcher gets shellacked, comes out of the game. Then sent back to the minors. Who knows if he'll get called up again?

Anything less than taking away the trophy is BS
Disagree. Taking away trophies punishes the fans which I think is wrong. The fans are already going to have to deal with the stench of cheating which is enough burden for a long suffering fan base in Houston.

I like that the coaches involved were fired to include Cora who had moved to Boston. And the players (who had ownership and were deeply involved in this) are going to be ostracized among their peers and we already see that taking place.

I hate both fricken teams now.

The Astros are up there with the Cheatriots in my hatred of them.

And if I was at a game where the Astros were playing on the road, I would get behind their dugout and call them Cheaters the entire game.

No No No No

I don't care if that hurts the fans.

The trophy needs to be taken from them.

The NCAA took the trophy away from the Trojans and it hurt me but I dealt with it.

Players knowingly cheated and should still be allowed to call themselves champion? No way in hell. It‘s those cheating players that have to answer to the fans on why they cant be called champions.

Disagree. In fact I think filming the Rams' walkthrough in our Super Bowl season back in 2001 was worse than what the Astros did because in the NFL it is one game and their DBs were sitting on new route combinations for plays Martz had freshly drawn up just for that game.

The real travesty here is that Belichick wasn't at least fired. Absolute and total horseshit.

Those players are going to have that stench on them the remainder of their careers. None of them will be wearing their rings with pride. I'm good disagreeing on this.

You must not be watching their media. They’re to a man saying they stopped cheating for the playoffs and won those fair and square. They say there’s no stench and laugh at anybody who says there is.

It's early stage denial. The price of this is going to be very steep for them.

Both are definitely bad, but I have to disagree about the Astros having a bigger advantage than the Cheatriots. I explained my theory on that already in the OP.

The crazy part of all this is how terribly cheating effects so many different things down the line... just like the guys on the bubble you pointed out. That same thing happened in the NFL to the players and coaches the Cheatriots cheated. The cheating has very far reaching effects, and to treat it like something that needs to be hidden or destroyed like the NFL continues to do is criminal in my eyes.

I'm just really fascinated right now watching MLB handle this so differently than the NFL. No doubt that they could and should go further with the punishments they hand out... but they have certainly gone WAY beyond what the NFL has done, and the NFL has a constant repeat offender that they continue to look the other way from. To me.... it's like the NFL has a red hot spot light shining on them right now waiting to show everyone whether or not they are going to continue to allow one cheating franchise to corrupt the integrity of their sport.

Like I said earlier.... those cheating pieces of shit were caught filming the Bengals this year! I love that the Bengals made sure to share the footage with the world this time. The league can't hide this one. What are they gonna do now? Why aren't the media sharks asking more about this now with what's happening in MLB?
