I hope Todd is 100% ready in 2019.

He didn't look right to me on his long run early in the game. The entire thing is weird but, the only thing that matters is he is healthy to start the season and stays healthy.

Aw cripes. Why all this cloak-and-dagger crap about Gurley’s knee? The season is OVER now. Why can’t the Rams organization just give a straightforward answer to what the injury is?

Reading the tea leaves, based on CJ’s interview....Sounds to me like a PARTIALLY torn ACL. CJ called it a “sprained knee” and “the same injury he had before.” CJ also called it “more serious than everyone thought.” All that to me sounds like partially torn ACL.

A partially torn ACL is very unpredictable. Gurley could be fine for the rest of his career... or he could fully tear it again.

I’m not sure what the Rams have to gain by being so secretive at this point. Get the best diagnosis you can, make your best judgment as to how to handle it (rehab or surgery?), then tell the public. What purpose is being served by continuing to be secretive?

As many of us expected, it was a sprained ligament (which is a partial tear).

The Rams don't want to get fined. Although, that cat might be out of the bag now. But you're overreacting imo. Sprained ACLs/MCLs happen every year. It doesn't seem to lead to a full tear often.

I'm better now, with a healthy Gurley & Kupp Rams win....TGIII just looked off.

Until we hear definitely - its complete speculation on what type of injury Gurley was dealing with at the end of the season. What is clear is that he had one or more leg injuries.

A sprain is a tear. It's just a nicer word for it.

Disagree. Sprained MCL’s are very common, happen all the time, and can heal on their own in a couple weeks. In some cases, even a complete MCL rupture can heal on its own (without surgery) in as little as four weeks.

By contrast, a sprained ACL is a different story... they are rare, and they do not heal well on their own. And of course, a full tear cannot be repaired without surgery, and the recovery is approx. 9 months. A Grade 2 ACL tear represents significant risk for a full tear in the future.

And yes, of course a “sprain” is just a synonym for “tear.” The sprain is either Grade 1 (minor tear) or Grade 2 (moderate tear) or Grade 3 (complete tear).

But yeah, maybe you’re right in that the Rams are being secretive so they can avoid a fine.

We haven't heard anything indicating that it's a sprained ACL. As you said, sprained MCLs are more common, and that's what a few of us speculated a few weeks ago based on Gurley playing. Again, if this thing were incredibly serious, the Rams wouldn't have played Gurley and risked further injury.

Yeah, that’s what’s frustrating, the only time we’ve ever heard the word “sprain” is just now when CJ “kinda sorta” confirmed it but then said he still “didn’t really know.” But as you say, he didn’t say which of the four knee ligaments it was— ACL, MCL, PCL, or LCL.

I'm not a doctor but I'm pretty sure a sprain can mean either partial tear or stretching of the ligament.

If it were just a stretch I don't think it takes months to heal does it? Never done my knee but I have had a couple in the ankles and they never took multiple months to heal for me. Maybe 6 weeks tops and I was back at it.

Phew . Honestly this isnt the best news but I thought it was more mental with him .

He will heal , like CJ said
"once you have a knee, you always have a knee "
This injury can linger but the team knows going forward they cannot expect 1500 yards and 20 tds ever season . They will need to use other running backs more .This will open up opportunity for our young backs next season

We have one of the best training staffs in the NFL. Let's trust them on this one.

Yeah, I trust the Rams’ medical staff, but I don’t trust knees.

Knees are jerks.

(And yes, I know that’s a knee-jerk reaction)

I’m not a doctor, but my best friend is. I asked him what the difference is between a sprain and tear. This was his response:

“Depends on what is partially torn/sprained. You have multiple ligaments like acl, pcl, mcl, lcl. Also you have the meniscus which can have tear as well. In general the difference: sprains are an inflammatory thing from a stretch/twist/trauma which usually better. Partial tear can be a structural problem and can get better depending on what structure and size of tear.”

Said on Skips show that he was more hurt than he or the Rams thought.

First thing I have heard about someone from the Rams saying that.

If true, I would think TG and others might be pissed for him saying anything.
