Not to mention Stafford was not going to threaten anything if they didn't trade him. Both sides showed some class in this instance.
Huge difference though.

In Detroit, the Lions probably couldn't keep from admitting they've sucked and Stafford was one the few things good about them. Hell, they won 1 postseason game when Barry was dazzling defenses for 10 years. Okay Matt, you're not going to win anything here so we'll accommodate you and trade you to a contender.

In Green Bay, the Packers probably realized they haven't gotten enough for their money with Rodgers and wanted to see him earn another Championship for them. He was to Green Bay what Stafford was to Detroit but the difference is, Detroit didn't do enough for Stafford.

The Lions have won 4 Championships (1935, 1952-53, 1957) when the season was 12 games or less. Since then, they've won 11 games 3 times and have just 1 postseason win in 12 tries. If we're being honest we would probably agree they are a "loser franchise" that even a phenominal RB like Barry Sanders (or Billy Sims), a phenominal WR like Calvin Johnson or an excellent QB like Matt Stafford couldn't change. They could never commit enough to put a great product on the field.

On the other hand Green Bay is a "winning franchise". Title town. They won 5 championships in the 60's, including the first 2 Superbowls, and have made the postseason 21 times in the last 28 years. Clearly they have done enough to put a great product on the field. But many want us to believe they haven't done enough for Rodgers when in reality, he hasn't done enough for the Packers. A "lucky" team might win 12 or 13 games once but the Packers have done it 9 times in the last 25 years.

So they didn't want to trade Rodgers away and insure those days are in the past. And who can really blame them? If Goff had won in 2018, got back in 2019 and lost the CCG in 2020, would we want the Rams to trade him away....for an older guy with no postseason wins? Those who can honestly say they would, sign on.

Rodgers is gonna retire and the Packers are gonna lose Adam's if they don't pay him. Gonna be interesting to see how Lafleur does without Rodgers making him look good.

I don't know why you guys are all upset, this is either leading to Rodgers being retired or heading to the AFC. Either way it benefits us.

Now to plant 40 kilos of cocaine in Brady's SUV ;)

lol
How about taping all of his practices before the playoffs like he and the evil empire did for years.

If any of that had happened it would have required QB play that was significantly better than what Goff provided. In other words, someone better than Goff.

I’m 100% on board! Can we have Goodell’s goons destroy the evidence to?

Sure. The question I asked had to do with "why didn't the Packers trade Rodgers months ago"? Although the Packers have gone to less Superbowls than the Rams the last 4 years, it wasn't a "Goff thing".

Sorry but I'm not buying any of this. Rodgers is the reason the Packers have been good for the last decade, not their knucklehead former coach now lighting it up with the Cowboys.

It's certainly not because of their current knucklehead GM, who decided to build for the future by drafting Jordan Love instead of getting Rodgers another playmaker to win a Super Bowl. Compare this with McVay/Snead who are all in with extreme urgency to win a championship NOW while we have Aaron Donald in his prime.

I don't care what anyone else thinks of Aaron Rodgers, but imo he is the best qb in the NFL and arguably the best of all time. He showed it again last year. There was obviously a serious breach of faith with him by management. He doesn't have to play for the Packers if he prefers to "retire."

And I don't feel sorry for Packers management. They can trade Rodgers for a bunch of picks and see how good they are with Love at QB. It's the outcome they created and the result they deserve.

This saga has really made me hate Rodgers. I had defended him earlier regarding the circumstances, which I do believe the FO there is a total mess. The way this is playing out now, he is proving to be quite possibly the greatest ego-maniac in sports history.
That said, its completely disingenuous to not recognize how great he is/was and how he was the single reason for success on that team. That team is a 4-5 win team without him, and in looking at the record of the team in games he didnt play, it proves that

I feel the same way about Rogers. Maybe hate is a strong word. But I lost respect for him. He puts his team and fans through all this anxiety because someone in the front office hurt his feelings. Not a good look if you ask me.

Rodgers reminds me so much of when you work with the owner's son. You have to laugh at his bad jokes. If you get on his bad side, look out! This GB situation almost feels like the "Dad" retired and the "Son" doesn't like the new head of the company. The "brat kid" isn't getting coddled and included in all aspects of the business and now he's pouting about the new boss having a slightly different direction for the future of the company. It's unbelievable. Like you said, not a good look at all.
The Packers literally got rid of a guy (Ty Montgomery) for that fumble against the Rams a few years ago for not giving this ego maniac a chance for a comeback win in the last minutes of the game (Rams won 29-27). Ultimately, Rodgers out of the NFL is really good for the Rams. And, It's also good for the Lions (I'm wishing the best for Goff going forward). Please retire!

I think he is one of the best to ever play the game. Is he THE SINGLE reason for success on that team? Absolutely not. The disingenuous approach is to say he is and that the other 52 guys on that roster are slugs. A 4 - 5 win team? I'm not buying that one. Is he one of the most important pieces on that team? Absolutely.

The #Packers and QB Aaron Rodgers are in the final stages of a reworked deal to bring him back for the 2021 season, source said. It should be official soon. Rodgers had planned to arrive for camp thanks to a thawing over the past few days. Now, he will.

GB in the Superbowl now, right? No wait, they still haven't given him 3 HOF WRs, a HOF RB and a HOF TE!!! CCG loss, again.
