The ROD board loved him but it just wasn't in the cards. We never would have gotten Fiske either.I wish we got Cooper DeJean
Yeah, you can win a superbowl without that HOF caliber franchise quarterback. Build a solid run game. A decent pass game and be very good on both lines. But, if you want to be in the conversion year after year, that franchise quarterback is the way to go. Eagles were impressive this year. But what will they look like in 3 years? As long as the Chiefs have Mahomes, they will always be in the mix. Same with Allen in Buffalo and Jackson in Baltimore. Those two haven't won it all yet but they will always give them a chance. So the Iggles won a SB with a QB drafted in the 2nd round and another SB with a QB drafted in the 3rd round. During their Iggle careers, both QBs replaced a highly drafted 1st round QB (ok, yeah, the same one). In both SBs, the QB won the SB MVP. Both times the Iggles beat a first ballot HOF'er.
It's a copycat League. The Iggles have accomplished stuff without the typical, highly-touted franchise QB. Let's see if any of these NFL GMs try to sell/spin the Iggles success as a template or something.
Well coach looked good tonight

It's the 1970s all over again...Yeah, you can win a superbowl without that HOF caliber franchise quarterback. Build a solid run game. A decent pass game and be very good on both lines. In looking back, I like Fiske but I think we would have been better off getting Dejean. The ROD board loved him but it just wasn't in the cards. We never would have gotten Fiske either.
So when Purdy becomes one of the highest paid QBs this season, will you consider him elite? The Eagles? They have their "elite" QB, He's one of the highest paid QB at 51 mill per season and one of the largest Guaranteed deals out there (179 mill)
We moved up to 39 for Fiske. DeJean was drafted at 40. Personally, I would like DeJean over Fiske but am happy with either. The ROD board loved him but it just wasn't in the cards. We never would have gotten Fiske either.
You need a competent QB, but every team must have some legit strengths no matter what. Whether its a QB, a defense, an offense, whatever. Just so happens that the Eagles number #1 ranked defense was much better than KC's offense, and their offense did enough to create points off of those opportunities.Agreed.
But you find plenty of people, on this forum and elsewhere, who appear to think that you're fucked if you don't have an elite QB. The Eagles, and others, have shown that this isn't true.
They held in this game too.I’ll vent: I’m still fuming about all the holds the Eagles got away with in our game.
Should have been us holding up the trophy tonight.
I definitely don't give a shit that that fan base respects us. Sumpthin from nothin means nothin. The Rams have the Eagles and their fans respect. That says a lot after the total beatdown and worldwide embarrassment of the Chiefs.
Well, technically its less than nothing...I definitely don't give a shit that that fan base respects us. Sumpthin from nothin means nothin.
