We match up well... but everyone thought we were going to walk over the patriots in two different super bowls and got beat.

lets not let that shit happen again.

Bingo. Overconfidence is a killer. Don’t overlook the Bengals. Just ask the Titans and Chiefs.

Given what happened against the Pats the last time the Rams were in the Super Bowl, I don't think overconfidence is likely. I expect 4 quarters of hard hitting by the Rams.

Yeah - I don’t think anyone is overlooking anything. The Rams have some super bowl experience on the roster - guys who have been to the game, a few guys who have won it. I think they will be well prepared.

As for matchups - I think we are all looking at the same things - their skill positions are elite.

Our defensive line should be a huge advantage for us in the trenches.

Their defense, I think, is better than most realize - but we should be able to move the ball - Hopefully on the ground.

We need to play mistake free - no free possessions, no special team gaffe, no boneheaded plays / penalties / etc.

If both teams play their best, we should win. That’s how I see it.

I'm with you on the above though the quoted part here is interesting as we have actually survived mistakes that turned what should have been beatdowns into tighter games. So they actually have survived mistakes to get here.

But you're right that is the goal. Why make this hard. Wouldn't it be nice to have a nice big lead and finish it strong with no doubt or heart attacks in the faithful? :laugh1:

60/40 sounds about right to me. As long as the runs are productive early - and they should be. If they aren't, McVay is going to air it out.

Its our defense that I expect to win this game for us. AD, Von, Gaines, and Floyd are going to be able to taste it by the time the 3rd quarter rolls around.
Agreed. Mcvay may go full air mode if everything is in order.

Our defense could take this game over and tilt the car over the cliff.

We match up well but the Chiefs probably did too. At the end of the day, every other game leading up to this point doesn't matter anymore. I expect a tough game and we have to learn from our mistakes from the last Super Bowl.

Also, kudos to Zac Taylor for building that team from nothing. You know McVay has to be proud.

Sure wish that a CB named Eli Apple played for Cincy & if Odell Beckham Jr. has any experience going up against him. Rams could not get that lucky.

Steady as she goes boys, steady as she goes. We approach this game like dipping the rabbit in the pot of warm water and gradually turn up the heat. Next thing we know, we’ll have some boiled WhoDat falling off the bone!:laugh2:

Burrow is outstanding, as are their WRs. They have a better WR group than we do. But Cincy's OL is bad. They gave up 9 sacks to the Titans, and Burrow was sacked on almost 9% of his regular season dropbacks. If Vonald show up, Burrow could have a really rough day. That all said, Tee Higgins is a mismatch against Darious Williams.

Yeah....don't agree with the receiver room assessment.

Kupp is THE best receiver in the league and I'll take obj over Higgins any day. That leaves van vs Boyd, a wash.

Higgins is better than OBJ, and Boyd is better than Van. Cooper is better than Chase, but Chase is still a monster.

The first time, yeah.

I hated that matchup in 2018. Belichick feasted on young QBs and had done so for 30 years. And Brady and Belichick were playing in their ninth SB. That experience gap was enormous. Aside from the media's obsession over how the New Orleans game ended, McVay had to keep fending off questions about how bad Gurley's knee was. It was a distraction.

Gurley was at 50% and we were missing Cooper Kupp. We were weaker than we were in the first half of the season.

It's just not the same thing now. Matt Stafford is playing at a higher level in the postseason than any Rams QB since Kurt. I'd venture even higher than that. All he's got to do is play like he has in the last three games. He's not going to be baffled like Jared was.

I don't believe Cincinnati o-line can block AD99 and Von Miller for 60 minutes. Burrow can move in the pocket but he's not a magician. He holds the ball too long and takes too many sacks.

Not only have we been through the glitz and glamour of SB week before, we don't have to travel.

It's just different than three years ago. We have it going on, on offense, defense and special teams. Yeah, we can't underestimate Cincinnati because they're a resilient bunch. They can take the opponent's best punch and get up off the mat. But play within ourselves, don't make silly mistakes and this is a game we should win.

When you look at how obj is playing right now, he is better than Higgins. He has more playoff production this year and more impact on defensive coverage against significantly better defenses. Any defender will tell you they would have more concern right now with obj. The rams top 2 guys are so much better that any possible edge Boyd might provide doesn't move the needle.

Reeder sometimes looked like he was lost in the lights. Kinda like an outfielder than backs up at the crack of the bat then realizes the ball is going to drop in front of him. The game is just too fast for him at this point.
Reeder does his best work around the los, the rams were very physical handling the niner run game although the success they did have Reeder was probably missing a tackle. A little bit better production from the position would improve the d a lot.

Higgins posted a 1000 yard season this year. And he put up 103 yards and 96 yards in the past two playoff games. You're basically arguing that Odell is better because he produced better in the Arizona game than Higgins did in the Las Vegas game, despite Higgins having a significantly better year overall. And Higgins is especially a matchup problem for us. He's a dominant jump-ball WR who has 7 inches on our #2 CB.

One should never under estimates the opponent.

They are here for a reason.

We were 4-12 the year before the 1999 season.

I have not read thru the thread and apologize if some or all this has been said.

GO RAMS!!!

Well I did say in the playoffs and actually obj had 113 against the niners compared to higgins 103 against the Chiefs so no, I'm not just talking about the Zona game and I think we can say that's tougher sledding against the niners.

But, hey, if you like Higgins, who I had in fantasy and really like, over playoff obj, then that's all good. Just not my pick. And I'm actually heavy on a prop bet that obj gets more yards than Higgins
