While it may be within the realm of possibility, so are a lot of things. What do you base your assertion on? Have there been any actual reports from trusted media members proposing this to be the case?

From what I've gathered up to this point, the Rams have reportedly checked in with Aaron Donald and both are comfortable with the timeline of having a deal eventually worked out, which some have speculated means that they're waiting for Khalil Mack to get his extension done first in order for the Rams to top that so that AD can be the highest paid defensive player in the NFL. I happen to be convinced of that, especially since the front office has also gone on record as saying that they've set aside current money in order to pay Donald.

Now that doesn't mean that the front office has set aside $20 million this season to pay Donald either, but rather that they've figured in a theoretical amount (say $6 million) to be added over the next several years as a spreading out of his proposed signing bonus.

Given that we still have about $25 million in salary cap space and aggressively tried to re-sign Sammy Watkins as well as offered Tyler Eifert around $8.5 million in free agency, I'd say that we should have enough money to pursue Ndamukong Suh since his price tag is anticipated to be around the same amount that Sheldon Richardson signed for recently.

Plus, the Rams have yet to address improving the run defense, which has been a stated priority for this off-season, especially with the departures of both Alec Ogletree and Robert Quinn. Signing Suh or Jonathan Hankins, for that matter, would fit the bill.

Further, I think it shows that a) they've set aside other monies and b) they are prepared to put the largest part of the cap hit off until 2019 in order to get a difference maker signed.

I think if they can agree on a price, the FO will sign Suh, wait on Mack to sign and then get it done with AD.

The issue won't likely be money, but rather Suh choosing LA over Seattle.

If winning is the issue, I can't imagine LA not being the place. If he wants to be close to home and play for his hometown team, then he'll go to Seattle. I don't think NO or Tennessee are that close. I think he liked them and will consider them, but I think that honestly, they are #3 and #4 on his list.

I think the biggest decision will come down to #hometown versus #getthatring.

We'll see.

I've got mixed feelings on this.

Obviously a starting DL of Suh, Brockers and Donald would be incredible and it would make the linebackers' jobs easier which is a big plus. And if he can be signed for one year for a team friendly amount then great.

However, I was hoping the Rams would use the existing cap space to front load a new deal for Donald so that when the Gurley/Goff contracts come round, the Donald contract wouldn't have too much of an impact. Everyone says that Donald will get signed sooner or later but I'd like to get that done sooner. I know the Rams have the fifth year option plus tags that can keep him under control for the next few years but keep the best defender in the league/future first ballot hall of famer happy ffs - pay him!

My preference would be for the Rams to use the first round pick on a big fat nose tackle who would occupy space and blockers between Brock and Donald and stuff the run.

I should caveat this with these kind of free agent splash signings always make me nervous because that's what the likes of the Dolphins have been doing for years and look where that gets them. I know there are examples such as the Broncos and Jaguars who've spent money in FA effectively recently but they're the exception to the rule.

I think some reality needs to set in here.
Suh is not discussing money with any teams during his visits.
That does not mean, money isn't important.
He's making the visits, and then will wait on the money talk.

The Rams have stated that they view the current window they are in as the one where they have the best chance at stocking the team up with talent due to rookie contracts for most of their stars and a window to win a Super Bowl. I'm not surprised by this and I think if Suh does come here it'll be a 1 year deal so that he can have a chance at a ring in an all star defense and if everything goes well he hits another big payday next offseason.

I think a lot of people are like me where we love the idea of Suh but not so much the person. No one can deny that Donald, Suh, Brockers lining up on defense with a rotation of Easley, Westbrook, and a few others doesn't give them a raging hard on when thinking of the potential. Obviously, it's the mentality part everyone is worried about. Perfect situation would be to draft a NT some where after round 3 and let him develop and strength train for a year while Suh wreaks havoc on a 1 year deal. Play our cards accordingly next offseason based on what happens this year.

If we sign Suh it might mean Donald could be on the way out.

It likely doesn't mean that. It most likely means that while there is a budget, the powers that be have decided that going for one of the best talents in free agency this year is worth tossing out the budget, and going for it. For all his issues, Suh is a great player, though not AD good, and if he's available for a lot cheaper than normal, why not?

However, while it likely has nothing to do with AD's contract status, having Suh WOULD mean that the Rams would be better prepared if Donald were injured, or if his contract demands were over the top. What if Donald decided that by "paid like a QB" he meant paid like a star free agent QB? Having Suh for a couple of years would give the Rams credibility in terms of not being willing to meet such demands. What if at the same time another team came to the Rams - Say Cleveland - and offered a fortune in trade for him? They have cap room to meet such salary demands, and picks to trade.

It's not that the Rams expect that, or would prefer such a scenario - but good management prepares for things when practical. They may view signing Suh at a bargain price as something that makes football sense (best DL in football by far) and something that helps them if AD's demands become insane. Just planning contingencies, even if hoping not to have to use them.

If I have to see another comment about the Rams being freaking scared of that overrated, noodle arm, rabbit head freak boy one more time, I’m gunna fly to SanFransisco and inject the entire team with HIV. freak them.
What does rabbit head mean?
Noodle arm? No
If you want to give the Whiners hiv just make them walk down Haight with their shoes off.
Another "hippy paradise" that should be fenced off and burned to the ground....without letting anyone out first.

There's also no way of knowing if our offense is even going to good next year. Lots of teams have flash in the pan seasons. See the Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders were breaking in a new OC who performed horribly. We have Sean McVay.

Whiner fans are unreal they got their head so far up their ass, they think any defensive personnel move we make is because we're scared of Garropolo. Gtfo dude threw three picks against our back ups and they think we're retooling our defense just to stop him? Lol.

My buddy who is a Raider fan called that by week 1 of the season. Hardly any motion used in their O. Very predictable pass plays etc.
You can have a very talented roster, as the Raiders O is, but so much still comes down to scheme and design.
