I remember that run. 47 yards against the Eagles in the season opener. But he hurt his quad muscle on that run and missed a few games ... Loved watching him. Always feisty, even as the Rams went down to defeat after defeat (after defeat).

Gurley sulked, threw Fisher under the bus, played games with McVay, and tapped out of games on specific downs where we needed him. Yes, I loved TG30 when he played for us, but the guy was not a team player around the end of his tenure here.

And yes, I'd go with prime Jackson - a prime Jackson that had nearly 2,500 yards from scrimmage in 2006, his absolute pinnacle - over prime Gurley.

SJ liked being the big fish in that small, scummy pond. He was an OK back, but I never loved him....probably because the Rams were so bad back then. He didn't sacrifice a ring and HOF honors to be a Ram, he took a nice payday to stay a feature back in a shit show offense where he didn't need to share a stage with any other talent. I didn't feel he stayed with the Rams out of loyalty then, and I don't now. Sorry...

Gurley did what he did with an offensive guru in charge of the team and so so much more talent around him .. Sjax did what he did on a 1-15 team with spags and linehan in charge and a conveyor belt of no name QBs under centre … SJ was our entire offense

Offensive Player of the Year is what impresses me, not the OROY. The OROY is just the best offensive rookie,not the best overall player on offense The OPOY is drawn from the whole pool of offensive players in the NFL.

Right, cause it's not like any other team would've paid SJ remotely close in any sort of free agency. And everyone knows athletes love being on a losing team.

Get real. The dude was elite. His stats are impressive before you even consider that he was really the only player worth game planning against all those years.

But Gurley is still impressive for getting both awards.

The list of OROY's that I posted have some damn fine football players that revealed themselves as rookies...

That wasn't my point. I know he could have taken $ and left. I think he liked being the guy... Even on a shitty squad. He wasn't a winner IMO...

Ok, so part of that was my point. Whatever. Been a Rams fan since the 70s and don't need to explain myself either way. He just wasn't my guy.... Cool?

I probs shoulda just not dipped into this thread since I have no ill will towards the dude. He was, for the most part, a class act. Except for the weirdness with a true mother scratcher named Marshall Faulk. Now THAT was a RB.

I liked and respected SJAX for what he did for the Rams during the dark days. But Gurley was something special for a year or two, before his body broke down. A definite combination of speed and power that is rare in NFL history. Dickerson was a speed gazelle as well, but different from Todd in some way that is hard for me to define. I know that we never get this choice because it's just fantasy, but if you could give me the choice of a totally healthy Gurley, SJAX or Dickerson and any of the choices could play at a high level for 8 years, I would pick Gurley of those three.

I would choose Marshall Faulk over them all because he was the complete weapon.....
