Gurley wasn't the main attraction while a Ram? Whoa!!All true!, but perhaps if SJ didn't play with a bull's eye target on his back .. unlike Gurley did since he wasn't the main attraction.. who knows what SJ td production would have been![]()

Not sure having skill players like Kupp, Cooks and Woods at the same time would make you the main attraction... just say'n. .. well to be fair SJ had Orlando..Gurley wasn't the main attraction while a Ram? Whoa!!
and Bulger, who went to Pro Bowls. And Holt...don't remember if Ike was still there off the top of my head. Think he was.Not sure having skill players like Kupp, Cooks and Woods at the same time would make you the main attraction... just say'n. .. well to be fair SJ had Orlando..
I remember that run. 47 yards against the Eagles in the season opener. But he hurt his quad muscle on that run and missed a few games ... Loved watching him. Always feisty, even as the Rams went down to defeat after defeat (after defeat).I CAN image it! It would be AMAZING!
My goodness.

Agree in full. Great post.Gurley never ran behind shit offensive lines like what Jackson had. Gurley never had eight consecutive 1,000 yard+ seasons like Jackson did. Jackson may not have been a top ten pick like Gurley was, but in his prime, he was big, had breakaway speed, was impossible to tackle once he got going, and yes, he never got injured like Gurley did. Even when Jackson was injured (Eagles game when Nnamdi Asomugha tackled him after a long touchdown run on the first offensive play, if I recall correctly), he came back when it mattered and still got his 1,000 yards.
And let's not forget his character. Steven Jackson was the absolute heart of the Rams. He never bitched about anything team-related, never sulked about his coache), even when they were absolute shit like Linehan and Spagnuolo. He gave everything and more for a team that flat-out sucked when he played with us.
Gurley sulked, threw Fisher under the bus, played games with McVay, and tapped out of games on specific downs where we needed him. Yes, I loved TG30 when he played for us, but the guy was not a team player around the end of his tenure here.
And yes, I'd go with prime Jackson - a prime Jackson that had nearly 2,500 yards from scrimmage in 2006, his absolute pinnacle - over prime Gurley.
Gurley did what he did with an offensive guru in charge of the team and so so much more talent around him .. Sjax did what he did on a 1-15 team with spags and linehan in charge and a conveyor belt of no name QBs under centre … SJ was our entire offenseFifteen times better? Which Steven Jackson are you taking about? I don't think he was fifteen times better than Gurley. I don't even know if I think he was better than Gurley, from a pure talent perspective. When you factor in longevity, yes. But just what they theoretically could do on the field for the team? Nah.
Offensive Player of the Year is what impresses me, not the OROY. The OROY is just the best offensive rookie, not the best overall player on offense The OPOY is drawn from the whole pool of offensive players in the NFL.
Some pretty good OROY there, even if Sam Bradford diminishes the award for you.
I think it validates Gurley pretty well.
Right, cause it's not like any other team would've paid SJ remotely close in any sort of free agency. And everyone knows athletes love being on a losing team.SJ liked being the big fish in that small, scummy pond. He was an OK back, but I never loved him....probably because the Rams were so bad back then. He didn't sacrifice a ring and HOF honors to be a Ram, he took a nice payday to stay a feature back in a shit show offense where he didn't need to share a stage with any other talent. I didn't feel he stayed with the Rams out of loyalty then, and I don't now. Sorry...
/flame suit on
Sure, but 15 times better? No. Not 15 times.Gurley did what he did with an offensive guru in charge of the team and so so much more talent around him .. Sjax did what he did on a 1-15 team with spags and linehan in charge and a conveyor belt of no name QBs under centre … SJ was our entire offense
Cool...some folks feel differently.Offensive Player of the Year is what impresses me, not the OROY. The OROY is just the best offensive rookie, not the best overall player on offense The OPOY is drawn from the whole pool of offensive players in the NFL.
That wasn't my point. I know he could have taken $ and left. I think he liked being the guy... Even on a shitty squad. He wasn't a winner IMO...Right, cause it's not like any other team would've paid SJ remotely close in any sort of free agency. And everyone knows athletes love being on a losing team.
Get real. The dude was elite. His stats are impressive before you even consider that he was really the only player worth game planning against all those years.
My fucking dude…

Fuck Girley, I’m admittedly still butthurt at him, he was great but SJ39 was the fucking man. I didn’t catch anybody saying the old “ dancing behind the line” bullshit. You’d do the same if Quinn Okinawa or whatever his still name was blacking got you! Lol
Haha I’m amazed I never got a jersey of his. Glad i never did.YOUSONOFA ~ The Gurley Man

OK. Let me settle this once and for all.Sure, but 15 times better? No. Not 15 times.
OK. Let me settle this once and for all.
I just ran it through my government supercomputer mesh, after many many hours, the verdict is in:
Prime Steven Jackson was 21,529 times better than Prime Gurley.
Science.
