Same here. Thats why my "dumb as fuck comment. :D
Chargers fans are speculating that Daboll was the better hire but Spanos went with Staley because he was cheaper. Wouldn’t put it past that prick.

There's no way McVay can keep hiring coaches that are splashes and good hires. Fucking frustrating.
McVay is like Vermiel he's extremely well connected. So he gets good references and I have to think his "interviews" are about as fun as a root canal if you don't know your shit. So idk man maybe he can keep hiring great coaches.

You know what's fun? When you spend hours putting together a mock off-season based on Staley being our DC next year and then find out minutes before you're about to submit it that Staley is now the Chargers HC!

Anyways, best of luck to Brandon Staley. He earned it. The guy is a genius. I wish we could have kept him another year.

Damn. . . .
It'd be cool if he took Bonamego with him. Sure, lateral move, blah, blah, blah -- I'd allow it!

John Johnson & Leonard Floyd must be happy...may not have to call a moving company anyway.

Given an opportunity to actually call plays yeah I'd wager he could jump at it. I think however McVay is tired of rotating OC's under him to help plan the offense so maybe he makes an effort to keep him?

Admittedly it is impossible to know what really happened from the outside, but I personally thought that some share of the blame for a season with chunks of ineffective offense lies with the coaches. Really with McVay since he's in charge.

Watching Green Bay was a reminder of what a precision offense looks like. Of course they have Rodgers, but the entire team was really crisp in its execution. We were too at times this year but not consistently. Not like when LaFleur was the Rams' OC. Of course that was a much better roster.

I would have wanted Staley for 1 more year, but I'm really not super concerned about this. I'm actually more concerned about losing Brad Holmes..

The change from Wade to Staley and the success that followed...to me was more about us using our personnel better...and scheming better and making more adjustments. The personnel is still there.... we have 2 of the best defensive players on our team....and it's not like we're going to have to put an ad in the paper to find someone to come coach the #1 defense in the league last year. We're going to have our pick at the top available DC... we don't have to find a needle in a haystack...we don't have to over think this... Whoever is the best available DCs who are going to run the scheme we run...we'll have our choice from those guys.... or we can promote Aubrey Pleasant if that would work.

I just want us to pick someone who's going to keep us physical....aggressive....and keep our ILBs on the field...lol. I've been wanting us to use our ILBs more for years..... we finally do it...and we end up with the #1 defense.... not to say that any of our ILBs had super standout seasons...and it's a position we can look to upgrade in the offseason...but the fact that Kiser and Young...or Reeder and Young were on the field more ..to me made us more physical this year... we were a stout defense for once.... and we have the players to stay that way..

we just need to find the right guy to keep it going.

BTW ... who would be the best available out there for us now

I think it's hard to be too critical of the offense vs GB not being sharp with Edwards and Kupp out but I get what you're saying. I'm just tired of a new OC or QB coach every damned year :(

And with five key defensive players hitting FA? Well at least they'll still be able to live in LA

I would bet Leonard Floyd is playing across from Bosa next year. I also have a feeling JJIII is playing next to Derwin James.

I bet McVay knew that he was losing his coach before now. Probably another reason he wasn't very enthusiastic at his PC. We have lost two guys so far and there might be more.

A one year DC with a great roster......

HUGE risk.

Aside from any personal feelings.
