I don't think anyone would have been happy at just a 2nd round pick for Stafford
They wanted a second this year and first next year. Bonsignore said the Raiders weren’t going to give up their first rounder this year.

We don’t know if the first next year would have happened.

As for possibility of still taking one of these top 5 QBs... interesting video on those guys.

Cosell sees the same thing many of us seem to like in Dart. He thinks he could develop into something. I know Jeremiah compares him to Hurts... needs more development, but could be a good player in time. Cosell feels the same.

Greg's got a great eye. He also has great contacts I think around the league, so it's a nice combo.

Also I will once again quote Mike Martz, head coach of Rams fame and excellence and mad scientist of the Greatest Show on Turf, who said (and I paraphrase due to shitty memory) that your QB has to be your biggest competitor on the field. For many years I was of the mind that accuracy was king, the guys who had that skill to put the ball on target for the wideout in higher percentages. But honestly time and experience watching the rise and fall of these boys has taught me how right Martz was.

And my own spin on that is "competitor" includes things like toughness of the mental variety in that pocket. Guys who can stand in there and make throws under duress in particular stand out in that regard.

Anyway great listen, thanks for putting it up. :thumbsup1:

I think we should have autocorrect change Florio to Foolio. What say you @CGI_Ram ?
Figured you would have taken care of that already.

I saw that tweet. It would have been nice if he said that's what the Rams asked. But, it could be interpreted as to what he thought would have gotten the deal done if Stafford didn't want to stay in LA.

I posted it on the previous page. He said this years second and next years first would have gotten it done. So, I take it that is what theRams wanted and if the Raiders weren’t willing to give that much up, then the Rams would have traded him.

Yeah I saw it on twitter or X or whatever. He was catching some heat regarding his earlier reporting on how close things were to being completed. He had also said that things would look different if the Raiders were willing to give up the #6 overall selection.

It's been widely reported that the Rams were looking for 1st round value.

Future picks are typically discounted by a round, so a 2025 2nd plus a 2026 1st would be 1st round value. I doubt the Rams were just asking for a 2nd.

Via the trade chart a 2025 2nd rounder and 2026 2nd rounder would equal 1st round value, too. So would a 2025 2nd & 3rd round selection. The former would just be a higher 1st round selection.

SO since Stafford is back & looking a draft charts. The Rams gave up a lot for B. FISKE

Yes, both of those would be 1st round value. The Raiders 2nd (37) and 3rd (68) would be late 1st round value at approx. pick 22. Depening on how much you discount the fuutre pick - a half round vs a full round - the package with the 2026 2nd would be worth anywhere from pick 21 to 25.

I suspect when the Rams said 1st round value they were talking about high to mid 1st round value which is what Rodgers went for. At any rate, I don't think they would have traded him for a 2nd and I'm certain the starting negotiating point would be a lot more.

I honestly don't believe that the Rams and Snead ever intended to trade Stafford, this whole act was just used for negotiating purposes. let us not forget as Rams fans, "In Snead We Trust".

We'll never know what might have happened if the Raiders or Giants offered their #1. I'm just grateful that they didnt and we are so back.
Staff and AJ back and ready to kick some ass

Agreed. I value this year's shot at another title far more than the pick options higher in this draft. Very glad we retained the soul taker. Build that defense into an elite range this offseason and Stafford will take care of the rest.

Kinda slow around here now that we got the good news.

Which do you guys prefer-- the drama and anxiety and excitement of the negotiation... or the relative boredom of knowing it's been successfully resolved?

Man, I miss football season already....
