Man Albert Breer’s reporting on Stafford is pretty interesting. Just some nuggets from his piece:
On Thursday after long hard negotiations with all parties in the room, McVay asked everyone to leave the room. And he and Stafford spoke and negotiated one on one. And ultimately Stafford and McVay’s relationship, as well as Stafford’s fondness for Los Angeles, are the reasons they got a deal done.
Everyone at the combine thought the 6:30am meeting the Rams scheduled with Stafford last Friday was to tell Stafford they were moving on.
LV and NYG were not offering their first round picks in discussions. But they did offer more years and money to Stafford than what the Rams were willing to.
NYG has been targeting Stafford since the season ended. LV was more of a latecomer.
Stafford has heard through the grapevine that Rodgers has subtly told people he regrets leaving GB. Telling others that the grass isn’t always greener. Stafford kept that in the back of his mind.
If Stafford would’ve been traded to LV or NY, there was a chance Kupp would’ve been included in the package.
At the combine, the Texas quarterback talked up his toughness to show he's ready for the next level. Plus, more on the Matthew Stafford deal.
