Ignoring the thread hi-jack that this is for the moment,, what do you love about FiOS?

Crystal clear quality. Even though the On Demand is 1080i (last I checked), the compression is MUCH less so the overall picture quality was just as good as DirecTV's 1080p On Demand. My mom has a 65" curved Samsung UHD 4k sets and we binge watch House of Cards together and the 4k streamed over FiOS is amazing. Some ISPs are throttling 4k streams from Netflix. Verizon isn't.

FiOS is FTTH or Fiber To The Home. Which means that if you get the combo pack including tv and phone, you can have tv and phone even in the case of a power outage if you've got everything hooked up to a UPS or have a generator. Now, TVs and computers are really big and will drain a UPS pretty quick, but during a hurricane here in Central Florida, the optical lines are buried (unlike cable which is on the power lines) and in the case of a power outage, I can power my equipment down and still have a phone without having a copper land line which these days is pretty expensive. And it won't likely go out when the lines go down. It's been more reliable than my cell phone, actually.

The On Demand selection isn't the greatest, meaning that some TV channels don't have all of their shows On Demand as much as they do on other providers. I don't know why. It just means I need to be a little more mindful in using the DVR, but that's about it.

The streaming options are pretty good. I get the pay channels, so I have no issue using HBOgo, MaxGo, and all that on my iPhone and they come free (I still have to pay for the pay channels, of course). I just have to log in using my Verizon login.

The people on the phone have been very helpful and other than the fact that Verizon always wants to charge for the TV remote (don't ask me why), they've been really good.

Don't get me wrong. They're big media and pretty much the devil. But... their internet offerings are beast (I get 75mbps up and down and for $50 more per month, I could go to 150mbps which I'd actually use in my full house), the picture quality is the best and when I talk to a person, I actually get what I want done and they work with me to get the package I want. Several times, they've actually saved me a pretty big chunk of change.

Now, on the mobile side, I've had nothing, but trouble years back and I'll never have Verizon mobile, again, but FiOS has been nothing, but awesome.

I'll check into it. I have a PS4. Thanks dude.

I just signed up, I'll let you know how it goes tonight. I'll then try to write a tutorial on how to sign up. It takes bitcoin donations to get access, btw.

edit: I have a PS4 as well, and will try it out in the browser.

Makes you appreciate places like here, other places get so salty if you even dare imply their team isn't the greetest.

Anyone looking for a way to watch this game. There's a free 7 day trial for the new game pass on NFL.com.

Just a warning though. You have to put your CC info in, and will be charged $100 if you don't cancel by the end of the 7 days. And it is a BITCH to cancel.
I've looked everywhere for just a simple pricing tier for gamepass. Only thing that is clear to me is that you get charged $100 if you don't cancel the 7 day trial. It can't be $100 for the entire service????

How much is it for fucks sake?

Since I am an old man (51) and don't play "games". I guess I'm going to have to wait until 10 pm tonight to watch the game. I can't believe there is no local channel showing this up here. I am CLEARLY in the Raiders media market. This sucks

I'm pretty sure it's $100 for the whole thing... I'm thinking about taking the bullet and getting it but damn it's expensive.

I've been awake for almost 36 hours, working for 24 of those hours and its hotter than hell, but I got some In N Out and Rams football. Even if its just preseason, been a long 8 months.

Haha yeah same boat here, you'd think they would show the Raiders game live in the Bay Area market. I'm hoping KTVU just never updated their listings and the game will be on instead of Big Bang Theory re-runs, but most likely stuck until it comes on NFL network at 10pm...

Used to LOVE In 'N Out... but I migrated to the big burgers... became a Fatburger FIEND. That damn Kingburger... with egg...and everything on it. Dammit.

Out here, they have Five Guys. They're pretty good. Fresh fries. Gotta give them that.

The last time we saw the Raiders we won 52-0. Last time Foles saw the Raiders he threw 7 TD passes in 3 quarters. This should be fun.

Welcome to Game Day: Rams vs Raiders

For the first time in 7 months, it's Raiders' game day. At 7pm tonight the Raiders will face off against the St St Louis Rams in their preseason opener in Oakland. To see all the details on how to watch the game click here.

It's the debut for Bay Area native Jack Del Rio as head coach of the team for which he grew up a fan. It's a moment that was a long time coming after four years as an NFL defensive coordinator in Carolina and Denver and 9 years as a head coach in Jacksonville.

Del Rio said there won't be any game planning for this one. This game is about evaluating talent. Therefore we will only see the starters for one or two series and then get a long look at the battles for playing time and roster spots.

The coaching staff aren't the only ones seeing their first action in a game. There are several key players who will don their Raiders game uniforms for the first time.

New free agents include center Rodney Hudson, right guard J'Marcus Webb, quarterback Christian Ponder, running back Trent Richardson, wide receiver Michael Crabtree, defensive tackle Dan Williams, middle linebacker Curtis Lofton, outside linebacker Malcolm Smith, safety Nate Allen, cornerback James Dockery, and return man Trindon Holliday.

We will also get the first glimpse of the team's rookies including fourth overall pick WR Amari Cooper, second round DE Mario Edwards, fourth round OG Jon Feliciano, fifth round linebackers Ben Heeney andNeiron Ball, and sixth round DE Max Valles.

An interesting storyline is Raiders undrafted rookie linebacker Chase Williams is the son of Rams defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.

The Rams have Nick Foles leading the way at quarterback now after acquiring him via trade with the Eagles. The vicious pass rush duo of Robert Quinn and Chris Long will offer a nice test for Donald Penn and Menelik Watson/Austin Howard while the Raiders interior will get to face off against Defensive Rookie of the Year Aaron Donald.

They Kicked our ass last season
with speed on the edge. It seems like every screen went for 10 yards. Our guys looked like they cement shoes.

Let’s see we can fare a little better there.

I'm Very Excited for this Opener for Pre-Season
1.) We finally get to see Cooper, Mack, Carr, Edwards Jr., hopefully Clive Walford, Nate Allen, Rodney Hudson, revamped offense and defense in action.

2.) While this may " just be a pre-season game" I expect the team to give its utmost effort. Why you might ask? Because its the first organized scrimmage under the Del Rio/ Mckenzie regime that will be televised. And the organization most like don’t want to send off a bad vibe by playing a sloppy game regardless of the quality of the team on the field. We don’t want our team looking like the Jets, who under a new regime appeared to struggle yesterday. So, by this team performing well, a positive vibe will be sent to the fan base and the rest of the league.

3.) We’ll also get to see players who have had their ups and downs in training camp. Such as: D.J Hayden, Trent Richardson, Brice Butler, and Menelik Watson. And we might either see improvement or a decline in performance.

4.) What I want to see is a competitive game with the the team giving it its all. But most importantly, I want to see our first team better than St. Louis’s first team. And by far the most important part of a pre-season game IS THERE TO BE NO INJURIES> We don’t necessarily have to win this game, but we have to see a good strong performance.

With that said, GO RAIDERS!

There you go my Ram brethren. Quality is actually pretty good. X out of the pop ups and it helps to have a pop up blocker installed for your browser type you use. First two links look like what the rams game will be on.

Enjoy! :)

Man watching some of the games already played these official challenges have stunk. I've seen 3 or 4 that they got absolutely wrong. Going to be interesting to see how it goes.

Game Pass is not a bad deal for us out of the area fans. You get all preseason games live in HD on demand on your desktop. In the regular season you get game replay with no commercials and live radio broadcasts of every regular season game. Not bad If your team wins. Last season I didn't watch many replays of the Rams...the live radio was bad enough.

What even is the exact starting Oline on paper I don't even know lol? I'd imagine it's something they're still "feeling out" regardless.
