Nothing will happen to make an impact on the cheaters. Some no body will get fired and banned. Just based on past, IMHO....

Terrell Buckley was a street free agent just signed before the Superbowl. On those new plays that Marts designed, Buckley would get to the spot where the ball was to be thrown, before the receiver would. No guy coming off the street is that good against one of the greatest offenses in league history without cheating.
Read this on here once before. i looked this up & its not even close to being true. Terrell Buckley was on the roster for the whole season, and even picked off Warner in the 01 regular season game

I'll be surprised if the sackless Goodall makes an announcement prior to the Super Bowl, he won't want to tarnish the image until it's off the front page.

Cool. My point was that unless they punish the Pats first, the entire sports world will be looking at them through the lens of the the MLB punishment.

That works for me. Either the drop Mjolnir on them or they look like corrupt asses. I'd rather the hammer, but either works in the end.

I'm think it was Holt who said it. Maybe he was thinking of a different player?

Just head on the radio Fred Rogin, am570 here in LA, MLB handed the Houston Astros their punishment for stealing signs with video. Not sure of all the details, but it sounded like GM and assistant GM major suspensions, draft picks taken away and at least 5 mil in fines.

Wondering now how the NFL front office will respond to Patriots video scandal.

Hopefully the NFL responds in the same way the MLB did. I doubt it tho, they need their Pats to be a playoff team every year and the NFL will do anything to make sure that happens.

Kudos to Manfred to display some balls and do the right thing, although the title should be be stripped and the players suspended.
The clownshow leadership of the NFL should take note of this.

WOW did MLB break it off in their ass.

@Mackeyser has a point, this will put pressure on the NFL big time.

The $64,000 question is how they act on it.

My $64,000 question is WHY THE FUCK WEREN'T PLAYERS ALSO FINED OR SUSPENDED. They were complicit!!! They should be punished too.

I'm trying to understand this.

Why does the NFL "need" the Patriots to be in the postseason every year?

And FYI Goodell and Kraft have not been friendly for YEARS.

There are reasons why the Patriots make the playoffs all the time. But not because the NFL "needs" them there.

In fact most people outside of NE are totally and completely shit of the Patriots and sick of their shit!!! So it would make the rest of us happy to see them go away.

Yeah, but it wasn't Spy-gate that broke them up, it was Brady thumbing his nose at Goodall over Deflate-gate, and Kraft taking the side of Brady. They were as complicit as could be with Spy-gate.

The Patriots make the play-offs regularly because yes, Belicheat is good, but he's also a cheater and we'll never know how much effort he puts into it that the league will never reveal.

My punishment :

Fine Kraft $10 million, it's chicken feed to him anyway.
Ban Kraft from every football stadium in the league for 1 year, including his own.
Worse yet, ban him from every 'massage' parlor in the U.S. for 1 year.

Ban Belicheat from the NFL for 2 years, unpaid.

Take the 1'st and 3'rd round draft picks away from NE in 2020 (They have no 2'nd)
Take the 1'st and 2'nd round picks from NE in 2021.

Allow no trades by NE for 2 years.

It was both actually.

The NFL wasn't complicit with Spygate but they knew those tapes could never see the light of day.

IMO it could have cost BB his life.

Lot's of unhappy bookies out there for sure.

I think your plan for punishment is not enough.

If they are found to be guilty of this again Belichick has to be banned, there is no other solution.

And cap penalties should be HARSH along with draft pick losses.

And IMO if they can prove that Kraft knew he should be forced to sell. It wouldn't be the first time.

The dickhead that owned the Clippers was forced to sell for something offensive as fuck, but nowhere near cheating repeatedly.

The league was complicit because of those tapes being destroyed.

Anyway, I figured two years would be like a lifetime ban, but being he's 'only' 67, I see your point on the life-time ban. The rest I agree with.

I’d be totally okay with that.

I agree with this also.

Forcing a sale would also put other owners on notice that this crap can’t continue...

The powerful element in that punishment of the Astros is the year-long suspension. Removing the GM and head coach from the team for a year is exactly what the Patriots need on top of the draft pick punishment.

I think 2 years' first round picks is enough but yeah would like to see more. First two picks in 2020 and 2021 would be much more punishing. That plus a year suspension for Belichick, the GM, and anyone else they can finger who was a part of this thing would be a punishment the Patriots would actually FEEL.

NFL has to do more than the BS it pulled last time. There is history here. If Goodell puts the kid gloves on with this decision it is going to be a big stain on his legacy IMO.

I still think some cap space needs to be removed (and distributed to the other 31 teams) as well as ineligibility for comp picks for a few years. Frankly, the Pats need to be crippled for years to come. It's not the first time, after all. And the cap space needs to be gradually added back - don't want them to suddenly have a ton of space to sign players.

As much as I hate the Pats I think killing their cap space and trying to cripple them goes a bit too far. Belichick is better than his peers, and IMO is the heart and soul of what makes them special. Making him take a year long hiatus would be very steep in cost and they would look very different in 2020 as a result without his presence. And a couple years of abbreviated drafts (one of which would be a much higher pick due to no Belichick previous season) on top of that would be enough I think.
