All I can say is if he he isn't escorted out the door to never again wear a Rams uniform, I'll lose what little respect I still have for this regime.

I'm starting to lose my mind with this. He was so bad, I don't even know why he's on the team even as a backup. Now add in that he costs $4 million and it makes me question if Snisher know wtf they're doing.

I like Wells as a person but the very sight of Wells as a player actually ignites a rage inside me.

Talk me off the ledge.

I'm with you V3...I didn't want Wells last year, much less this year.

Just not sure whats up here....with Scott Wells.?

I do know that Wells is a good around good guy. Not sure if any other OL'er in the NFL who has experienced such bad luck the last three seasons. The weakness of Wells's play would seem to have materialized due to injuries. Its a wonder after almost dying during last yrs TC he was able to play @ all last season.

Wells may have had an outstanding off season finally??? Its possible that Wells has fully recovered from those two or three knee surgeries, the foot surgery & the dislocated elbow injury and the illness that nearly took his life. We just do not know here. Butt that's not all that out of the realm of possibilities.
Him being an all around good guy aside, and I'm sure he is. If it is true that he was so beat up last year that he really had no business playing and if there were injuries beyond that which we as fans were even aware, why on earth did Fish roll him out every week? In my mind fisher is just as culpable here for starting him each and every week. It's hard to understand and comes off as stubbornness.

It seems to me that if they had intentions of cutting him and that they liked him as a person they would give him extra time to find a new team and would have cut him already. The fact that he's still on the roster doesn't bode well.

Wells was the worst qualifying centre in the league for a PFF grade (if you put any stock in that). And if you don't, then you only needed to watch him play to know he was poor.

He's due $1m on the 12th (I think).

Surely common sense dictates that his place on the 2015 roster cannot be justified and he has to be cut before Thursday. If he isn't cut by then I think this would be the first thing that would make me genuinely wonder what the hell Snisher is doing.

Great post! The only thing I could add is that I don't think it is even in the realm of possibility that Jones or Rhaney can be as bad as Wells. I think some people are posting on the quality of the man rather than the results on the field. Wells is the worst starting player in the league, and him being on the roster at all stinks of nepotism/croneyism.

I know I need to be patient, and things will work themselves out, but C'MON... Scott Freaking Wells?

Personally I think we should just cut Wells right now. Start Barrett Jones, if he doesn't pan out this year then we hit FA/Draft next year. If long can restructure to be a swing backup OT/OG on a pay-as-you-play contract then I'd be interested. Pick up an OG in FA (if there will be any left) draft an OT/OG high in the draft, ones that are ready to go and start the guys. I'm fed up of the 'potential' of draft picks. Just draft guys that can play NOW. We're not the Patriots who can keep guys on the back burner for a couple of years we need them to hit the ground running right now.

I'm going to assume you're just venting as you surely must know that's every team's goal for every player they draft, right? Unfortunately, it's just too rarely the case. Almost every college player takes time to develop....some more than others. NO question it would be nice for the Rams to hit on a few more EJ Gaines types and fewer Brian Quick types, but you just never know what's going to happen with a guy once he's selected.

They keep meaning to meet up, but they keep approaching him from the front so he immediately lets them past him.

Here's the Rams new and improved C:

Unlike Wells, this will at least slow down the pass rush as they must pause to deposit a subway token before passing thru and crushing Bradford. And think of all the change the Rams will pocket, it will more than pay for that Wells dead money!

Scott Wells is due a $1 million roster bonus on March 12th. Until then no harm has been done by not releasing him. I doubt he is paid that roster bonus. Until then I might agree with the premise of this thread. But until then the venting is premature.

Now that Scott Wells and Jake Long have been cut it does turn out that all of this venting was premature. And no harm to the Rams has been done. And the cap hits of Wells and Long never applied (teams do not have to reach the cap until tomorrow at 4:00 pm Eastern time.) I wonder what all of the fuss was about!!

If you wonder what the fuss was about clearly you didn't see Sam Bradford go down in pre-season nor did you watch Scott Wells single-handedly go on to have the worst season at center in Ram history

well to answer your question, I'd say now that they are cut it turns out to have been absolutely 100% proper venting, and just the right amount of fuss. Clearly the front office agrees with those of us
