I think that there will be untold subtle positive ripple effects from the Stafford addition.

The obvious ones are that the Ram deep passing game will be back and the entire playbook will once again be open.

But I also think many other more subtle ones will be helping the Rams in less obvious ways.

For example...

Stafford will read D’s better and faster which reduces stress on his OL. Might make his OL look better without requiring massive upgrades.
Play action will be improved which can only make Akers/Hendy even more effective.
Perhaps Stafford will be able to find success on more deep throws with our current WR’s, which means resources could be invested elsewhere.
I think that our TE’s will once again be a big part of this McVay/Stafford O.
Stafford excels at the pump fake and looking off Safeties which will further turbocharge our passing O. This one thing could be quite an improvement in effectiveness.
Stafford is unafraid to throw deep into contested catch situations which puts tremendous stress on secondaries, something that Goff pretty much stopped doing 2 years ago.
The ‘new’ Rams O under Stafford should improve the TOP battle even more, helping DC Morris even more and giving the D more rest.

Bottom line is that I think we’ll see a 30-32 ppg Ram O once more directed by Stafford. I’m sure that I don’t have to tell you how THAT improves chances for a deep playoff run.

Rams are improved at QB and we are going to see offensive improvement as a result. Plain and simple. How much though that is the question. I would expect that if they fix the OL and add some speed to the receiving weapons we're a top 5 offense. But even if they don't we're probably still going to have a top 10 offense just by virtue of the QB improvement we're going to get.

IF our defense doesn't dip too much in conjunction with that we're in business. If they slip a little that can be covered by the offensive improvement that will almost surely be there.

So IMO no matter how you slice it we should be a deep playoff contender. And playoffs is where the increased offensive potency at QB gets tested. Stafford is going to get every shot for a championship on this roster. It's the kind of team and org he's never had. So we'll see how he responds and I expect him to play lights out.

Yeah, it just makes sense that after investing all they did in the trade to acquire Stafford that they also had a plan to protect him AND give him necessary weapons.

To do otherwise would seem quite foolish and the Rams are definitely not a foolish team.

We need a stud center no matter what. Sure, Stafford does many things that our previous QB had trouble doing....But we won't win against teams with a stout DL that does what we do: superior interior defensive pass rush. No QB will do well getting smashed all game up the middle and we have to stop that shyte!

Stafford is so good at not projecting where he's throwing the ball. This is a significant upgrade that I am so excited to see. It kills me that Woods and Kupp got blamed for lack of production as WR's the last couple of years by know-nothing homers who live by stats. Both may be thousand yard WR's next year.

I think it's very possible that the OL starters are Whitworth/Edwards/Corbett/Edwards/Havenstein and we draft for depth/future at LT. That leaves Noteboom as the sixth man, Allen and Anchrum and then the PS guys to compete.

Having said that, I could also see McVay making a SPLASH by acquiring an elite IOL. That, plus a rookie WR would make this offense the best in the league IMO.

Oh this isn't the Courtland Finnegan thread? Sorry.

Fuck fuck fuck. Please dont let it happen. Hypothetically if it came down to these two teams, why would he choose Denver over SF? Pairing with Shanahan would seem to be his best option if it came down to these two teams.

If SF has to decimate their defense to do it, I'm okay with this.

If Houston wanted AD and Ramsey, as well as future firsts - they should be asking for Bosa and Werner and a pick or two. I'd be okay with that.

The evil Niners would seem like an option, so my focus goes to the question of What would San Francisco need to give up?

My thoughts go to draft choices and young players.

The 49ers have the 12th and 44th picks. Future #1s would figure to be no higher than mid-20s (same as Rams) although there are no guarantees in life (I know, I have asked)

I would guess the most attractive players would be Bosa, Warner and Armstead on defense; and Aiyuk and Samuel on offense (don’t see S.F. considering McGlinchey).

Although the Texans seem pretty incompetent right now, the may ask for Bosa and one of the receivers, plus three picks including this year’s 12th overall and either the 44th and a future #1, or two future ones.

The Niners would have a terrific QB but would lose a ton of talent and draft capital. At least, that’s what I would hope.

The whiners would be foolish not to do it. Bosa missed the entire season last year with injury and has been injury prone since he was drafted. He's good, but, their D was just fine without him last year. As to losing one of the WR, they could live with that. Debo was hurt most of year too. I am praying he doesn't get traded to SF. The most logical destination is Miami and there is a trade that works really well there that nets them a lot more then this.

Watson playing for the Niners reminds me off the year the Rams put multiple QBs on IR. Not sure Watson knees will hold up. However, iron sharpens iron so if a Watson led Niners team is what we need to overcome....so be it.

Well the Herschel Walker trade comes to mind and rest assured Nick Caserio has to know that Deshaun Watson is worth more than Walker was.

The asking price is likely to be 3 1sts, 3 2nds, conditional picks AND Nick Bosa.

I really thought that there was no way that the Texans could extract such a haul (which I almost guarantee they fuck up), but apparently part of failing upward is the guarantee of failing...the only question is which way.

It turns out that the only team with all the ammo to do this AND send back a young starter still on his rookie deal is the Jets.

I think his team is putting out "yeah, that spot looks good" stuff because they've gone from selective to "just get me the fuck out of here".

Btw, this may net a win for the Texans, but it won't be a win for owners because this victory will be the definition of Pyrrhic.

I'd be shocked if the 9ers give up all of that when had the D remained healthy, they're likely in the playoffs, even if they had Jimmy G and Nick Mullins essentially platooning at QB.
