When Mundt went down I figured we’d finally get to see Hopkins but I figured hey, let’s not jump to any conclusions when he wasn’t up, but now Blanton has apparently leapfrogged onto the 53 in front of Hopkins and don’t appear to be too many ways to spin it.

Hopkins is a bust. No way around it. Was excited when we drafted him. But he can't even get on the 53. Unless he's such a flawed blocker and Blanton is they much better. But yikes, not a good look

Yeah Brycen is pure caca at this point. If an injury can't get him on the field, nothing can except maybe accepting a demotion to water boy.

Yeah, Les and Co are damn good... but not all of them are going to pan out.
Clearly

Yea he's probably a bust.

But not for this reason. Mundt and Blanton are both blockers. Theyve always been and will always be better blockers than Hopkins.

He might get thrown into a trade, although losing Mundt might have prevented that now.

I'll say it again: softer than a baby sea otter's ass. Even Harris is more physical than Hopkins, and he's 219 lbs.

Is it a surprise at this point? For myself the surprise would have been Hopkins dressing.
I Do not understand why he is still on the team.
He was a fifth year senior.
Coming out of college he had below average hands.
Whose production dipped anytime he faced man coverage.
Struggles to adjust to balls thrown slightly off target.
Struggles with poor pad level and hand placement when blocking
at point of attack.

And Merlin I have a special surprise for you. Here is a clip of Hopkins playing inline.
Please do yourself a favor and play the video at half speed or slower.
I could have sworn I saw a paddy-cake game.

Lined left up tight inline

Yeah, I think we can write him off. Didn't like the pick when it was made. Thankfully, it seems like Harris will develop into a heck of a talent.

If they want a blocking TE and Hopkins wasn’t promoted, then it would seem that they see him as a receiving weapon.

The drafted another pass catching first TE again this year. So it seems that the Rams weren’t convinced that they got it right in the 2020 draft. It felt like another forced pick to fill a role.

Quick exercise in roster management: Let's say Desean Jackson goes, but we pick someone else up at the trade deadline. That's a wash. But what about Darious Williams coming back, possibly as early as this coming week ... Who do you cut from the 53?

Now, maybe Tutu goes on the IR, so you think there may be room there ... Nope. I doubt it. Without Tutu and Desean no longer there, we likely pull up Koski (let grab another receiver, like Trishton Jackson. So, again, who do we cut?

Gotta be Hopkins at this point, don't you think?

Don't think so . those are two different tight end positions.
You have the athletic move TE which is what hopkins is suposed to be
and then you have the inline TE which is what Mundt did.
The inline TE's are blockers first ,receiver second.
The move TE's are the exact opposite.
WE are in desperate need of a inline TE, but unfortunately I don't think we have one on the roster.

Yeah, but he is still 6-4 245... If Higbee goes down you will need a TE that can do both for when they play 11 personnel.

Harris is not that guy with being only 215 lbs.

Blanton is a guy to be a blocker only, like how Mundt was used, but Higbee and Mundt also played together as well. So Hopkins and Blanton could play together also if Higbee goes down.
