The A'Shawn Robinson Injury ......caused DC to insert & start #93 Marquise Copeland with #92 Jonah Williams taking #93 main reserve position. We even saw #95 Bobby Brown getting some snaps in the 4th quarter. It was positive to see these 3 young DL'ers getting some real game experience due to most part the injury & future loss of Robinson to FA'cy in March. #91 Greg Gaines is my top priority if Rams 2023 UFA's. The DL would not hold up if they see both Robinson & Gaines depart.

The newest OLB/ER......meet DC Morris's new guy # 97 Mike Hoecht. I saw some excellent effort from #97 in his first start opposite Floyd. #97 & #99 provided a nice right-side duo. Lewis did see some snaps but he lost the outside edge several times & Mike Hoecht did a far better job of containment. It was obvious when observing he was schooled heavily to ensure just that, to protect & seal his outside edge.

DC Morris might have found something special here! It bares watching in the next 6 games of this season to see if Hoecht can be developed from DL'er to OLB'er. #52 Terrel Lewis must not be doing what DC Morris wants as a starter.

Note: Terell Lewis's time as a present or future starting OLB for the Rams has ended. No better than a reserve from this point on. Another 2nd day Snead/McVay draft bust.
Yeah - it makes my trade up for Johnathan Taylor hurt a little. The Rams needed a RB & Cam Akers & Van Jefferson both need to step up as well.
Van was behind Joshua Reynolds. His rookie season. Last season he showed off some skill. Last 2 weeks he has scored,so there is that.

Does K. Williams get most of the snaps at RB this week?

Again, why Derion Kendrick? Rams have two other options, so going forward just like no Bobby Evans, please start Coby Durant & Shaun Jolly over Kendrick & Long. Durant & Jolly are faster and I'm confident they can tackle just as good. Please, we need to utilize this opportunity to see other players.

Durant is the higher draft pick,so there is that as well.I know it doesn’t mean much if you compare David Edwards to Bobby Evans.

In the last two games Mr. Tutu Atwell has been targeted 3 times. He has caught all three passes for 85 yards and 1 touchdown. Let us hope that McVay can scheme up some more targets as the young man has shown he is ready to assume his role as a viable member of the offense going forward.

I was pleasantly surprised at the willingness to have him run something other than go routes.

I've seen some members here posting positive on Cam Akers play Sunday......that makes me think my eyesight is worst than I thought....Akers play was weak at its best from where I was sitting. I like what I saw from RB Kyren Williams Its my opinion he should start for the rest of the season.

Not sure I could take much more disappointment if the 6th rd'er Kendrick is the better corner than the 4th rd'er Durant. Kendrick's play yesterday was just plain bad!

What would bench sitter Durant play like?

I didn't get to see the whole game due to shitty streaming connection, but I saw him make a few real good tackles when he was up at the LOS. He makes them much more often when up front.
When it was a 10 pt game and we had a chance, there was a big 3rd down play where he whiffed on the RB catching a flat. Just hit him high and wrap up. There's no need to dive at someone's feet when they're at a stand still. He did the same thing during that big Deebo TD earlier this year.

One silver lining I can think of is the fact that you now have a lot of offensive lineman that got some work in.

We'll have tape on them and we can assemble a pretty good offensive line next year.
Plus work from Kyren Williams.

And that's about all I can come up with.

I don’t know about Kendrick. He is slow footed & not much of a cover CB. Durant is smaller, but he seems to have a way about him causing turnovers.
RR31 I heard had an excellent special teams play, not sure how he ended up so deep in the Dog House?
Bonify’d I liked your positive report on the D-Lineman.

Maybe finding or looking for a backup QB & finding the moving parts that you can take into next season.
J. Harris made a play.Is Hopkins a guy that can play at all? Ben Sko keeps doing a lot of little things that might make him more valuable in the future?

Yeah I remember that play too.

I would have to re-watch the play, but if I was forced to put money on it, I would bet that it was because Morris had him so far back that Rapp was running full speed to try and tackle the guy before the first down marker and whiffed because he was running too fast.

Wasn’t Durant part of the rotation at the start of the season and Kendrick on the bench? It wasn’t until Durant got hurt, and Hill too, that Kendrick finally got on the field.

For some reason, they must like him because it sure seems like Durant & RR are healthy. Or it’s something else that I can’t figure out.

That's his issue in the open field. He runs uncontrollably to one spot. He needs to break down and anticipate that the ball carrier will make some sort of move.

Yeah and that is why I have stated Rapp should only be near the line of scrimmage - then he wouldn't have to make as many open field tackles

I love Hoecht.. but I think if you're starting him at OLB.. it's a sign of major depth issues at edge.. which we already knew.
Hoecht.....Morgan Fox.....a good rotational guy I think.
I want him to get more snaps the rest of this year but I don't think he is a long time starter.
One thing for sure, he excels at ST (as does Jacob Harris.....he is almost always the first guy down on punt coverage, he beats his blockers then beats them downfield).....Hoecht should have a role going forward.

Maybe the staff has a hard time admitting they maybe made the wrong call?
I would certainly be getting Durant and Jolly more reps (I think Jolly is hurt actually)....every week when Kendricks ends up in man the other team goes right after him, with a lot of success.
Im not down on Kendricks long term, but, he has struggled mightily. Give him a lower snap count, give other guys some experience.
Same with Rapp at S....see what Yeast can do.
Hoecht and Brown on the DL as well....give them reps.

Another silver lining. Kupp, Donald, and Stafford won't suffer career ending injuries this year. We'll have better draft position. Our schedule should be softer next year. Next year is our year. I'm channeling that old 2009 rams fan energy.
