Should we bring back Higbee and/or Havenstein?

Higbee can still offer something if Havenstein comes back, it should be as a backup to McClendon.
I think you are right on this. As much as we luv Rob, he has been such a warrior.
But this is a playoff push for home field advantage and the O line is currently a fine working machine.
They keep playing like this, we win it all.

Pretty much what I figured.

McVay is probably not ruling out Davonte Adams because they want Seattle to wonder if he's going to play but I doubt it.

Bring them back and they start. Anyone notice who was high fiving guys coming off the field after scoring? Higbee and Havenstein.

I mean, will they disrupt the flow of our 48 actives?

Are they physically up to speed?

Are they better than the guys we have starting in their place?

No disrespect of these old warriors but just looking for some input.

Definitely think we need to get Quinton Lake up to speed for our playoff run however.
Yes. Even if Havenstein is a backup, injuries can strike at any time.

I think the return of Higbee, given the extent we are relying on our TEs now, cannot be understated.

I posted 1 month ago that our TEs are, more or less, JAGs. They showed it in Seattle and it hurt us quite a bit. Lots of key drops. The fact they are open so often is a credit to how excellent McVay is at scheming things up, not our TE room. Teams still struggle to defend our heavy TE looks despite them being JAGs, and even though we have rolled the scheme out for several weeks now, because of the versatility of this Rams offense - it can hurt you in so many different ways, - and the players themselves being such diverse chess pieces (you can use Puka 100 different ways on the same play). It puts defenders at a disadvantage when trying to accurately anticipate what is coming.

That does not mean the TEs are bad, by any means. They are just not good. They're average. JAGs. Just Another Guys. So getting Higbee back, as arguably our best, is going to be big.

Allen? Meh. Hit or miss. He drops the ball as often as he makes an above expectations play with it. Most of his catches he is wide open on, and gets the exact YAC you'd expect from the space in front of him. No more. No less. His blocking isn't anything special either.

Parkinson? Same thing, he runs slow, getting less YAC than you'd expect, and seems to get stopped in his tracks when tackled, rarely gaining extra yards, despite his size. He has had a very nice year, and appears to be working on his catching and down field blocking. So I am slowly coming around, even as one of his biggest haters. But he had some painful drops vs. Seattle. Jury is still out as far as I'm concerned.

Ferguson should be very good but is still a rookie. He's up and down, but seems to be finding some consistency. This could be a game changer for us! He should have had 2 TDs on Thursday! (1 was called back on an egregiously bad penalty call)

Higbee was quite good for a long time, but with his age and injuries, is more or less average now. That being said, coming back from IR, with less miles on his tires from an extended rest, should be a huge boost. I think many are underestimating it. He might be our best TE, which is a huge piece to get back. Coupled with Ferguson growth, I think we are in for a boost. We rely on the TEs so heavily now, that it being a JAG unit, hurts. Higbee + unlocking Fergy could be the ticket to another Lombardi.

EDIT - another reason why the TE look is so successful.... JAGs or not, I cannot think of an NFL roster, ever, besides this Rams team, that has had four (!) functional NFL TEs that can all block and catch at a level acceptable to put in your starting lineup.

EDIT 2 - I see the total was 5 drops by the TEs. Ouch...

Big Rob will provide quality depth and could be used in a Jumbo package. Higbee has better hands than Parkinson or Allen and while he can’t run as well could help on those chain moving plays that were plagued by Parkinson and Allen drops on Thursday night. You definitely bring both back if they are 100% healthy. Both have vast experience and are leaders.

Tyler Higbee
  • What: Ankle sprain.
  • When: November 2025, in a game against the Seattle Seahawks.
  • How: Rolled his ankle while playing.
  • Impact: Placed on Injured Reserve (IR), making him miss at least four games, with potential for return late in the 2025 season.
If he is healed then it's a yes for the 13 Personnel

Rob Havensteibn
Details of the Injury & Situation:
  • Injuries: Havenstein has been sidelined with ankle and knee bursitis, symptoms of nagging issues he's dealt with throughout the year.
  • IR Placement: He was placed on injured reserve in November 2025, forcing him to miss at least four games.
  • Return Status: While eligible to return, the team held him out of games around mid-December 2025 due to the short turnaround on Thursday games, with no definite return date but hope for the end of the season or playoffs.
  • Replacement: Rookie Warren McClendon Jr. has filled in at right tackle, playing well, which complicates Havenstein's potential return and future role.
  • Future Outlook: Given his age (33), previous injury history, and McClendon's strong play, there's speculation that this could be the end of Havenstein's time with the Rams or even his NFL career, though he's a respected leader.
